Hot Music Played By The Wolf?

Washington – It was damp but not raining and the cold wet seeped into one’s bones as only those who live in the northwest can know.  I pulled my jacket closer as I made my way to the rail of this beautiful track. to check out the entrants in the Abu Id Bonanza, the feature race of the weekend.  The race honors a stakes placed 7 YO horse by the same name that made over $130,000.  Saturday’s race will be for 2 YOs, run at 5 1/2 furlongs over the lush turf course for a purse of $60,000.

The first out was Burning For You (Even), a son of Burning Roma.  Trainer Devineequi had ordered only a light jog for this dark grey colt.  Although he smelled of a Numotizine sweat, he was hitting the ground well and looked fit and ready.  This colt has been in the money in four of his six starts.  Sporting speed figures about 10 points better than most of the field he was made the favorite even though this will be his first time on the grass.

A colt with turf experience is Oh Black Water (7/5) a 2 YO son of High Yield.  The ewe-necked dark bay colt came by with the pony and was feeling his oats in the damp air, kicking high and acting terrible.  Trained by Stickup he has two wins including the Hast Door and was third last time out in the Thorny Mars.  A closer, he will likely run out of racetrack before the end of this and with all the other 2 YO stakes in the region I am not sure why he was entered going so short.

5ringsfarm dropped the entry of Warsong Wolf (9/2) a 2 YO son of Lonhro.  He came by in a strong gallop and was fighting his rider working up a sweat.  The big bay colt looked good though, and although he only beat four horses on the dirt, he loved the lawn and won by 3/4 of a length in his first effort.

The Java Gold colt, Hot Track (5/1) has two wins from six starts and both were on the grass.  A nice looking bay colt with a quizzical stripe down his face, he galloped by with his feet beating out a rhythm to the exercise boy’s rendition of “I’ve Been Working On The Railroad” hardly a ‘hot track’.  Trained by Topicount2  the colt was the winner of the Atlantic Needle before turning in two poor performances.  Detecting hot shins, Topicount2 stopped on the colt and gave him 30 days rest.  He should be better Saturday and may well be the best.
