Irish 1000 Guineas Trial 2013

Hi All and welcome to Ireland the land of Green. There’s only one thing the Irish like more than potatoes and that’s horse racing and today they have put together a nice day of racing. The weather looks fine and expect loads of people to come from near and far to witness some great racing. Today I will focus on the Irish 1000 Guineas Trial which is a Group 3 race at 1600m. Looking at the field there seems to be three standout horses but don’t be surprised for an upset win cause each horse as a good chance.

This filly is stepping up in class here today, and the only start she didn’t place was two starts back when she got injured. She had her first start on the grass last time out at 1700m where in a small field of four she stormed home to have an easy win. He is from the GATETOWIRE Racing Stables which are very big farm and they have entered this one to see how he’ll handle the step up in class I believe. Good horse but others look better here.

This filly is one of the better fancied one here and that’s probably got a lot to do with the fact she has never missed a placing. She is stepping up in class here but her last start performance in the Rebel Yell N Turf Filly Mile was pretty impressive where she just missed the win. Has won twice and finished second from her three starts at the distance and only looks to improve. I expect her to be put behind the leaders and look for her to finish strongly, must be considered as one of the main chances.

Hard to believe this filly was picked up for $30k only after winning her first start with a good speed for a two year old. She is bred well and I think the LENNY271 Racing Stables have gotten away with murder when they picked her up so cheap. She has stepped up to the plate everytime she’s been asked to and I expect her to get back and then try and run them down in the straight. If you like one at bigger odds this one might be the one to take for a bit of value, but be warned take her at your own risk.

This filly is the second favourite here and is also having her first start at the distance, class, and track. Hasn’t missed the placing from her eight starts and this is her second start as a three year old. She’s got the most wins from today’s field and look for her to take the lead and take it well, and make the others chase her home. She must be considered as a big threat here today.

This filly is our early favourite and is trying to win four in a row here to continue her good run. She has had one start at this class as a two year old where she took on the boys and nearly won but she faded in the closing stages to finish fourth. She’s had four stakes wins and looks ready to take the next step and I believe she’s the one to beat.

This filly is coming into this race out of form and that’s not the best way to come into a race like this. She has had two starts at this class and wasn’t far away at her first attempt at the class, but did not back it up when she came out two months later. Her best speed figure came last start out when she had her first start on the dirt so I guess the owners will be hoping for some rain to give any chance here. Hard to see her doing well here.

This filly has been racing well but at allowance company and this is a two steps up in class. This is her first start at the class, track, and distance. Has only once missed the placing from her five starts and she will most likely race from the back here and hope for a bit of luck in the straight. She’s dropping down in distance but hard to see her finish in the top 3 here.

This filly is the last runner in this years field and just happens to be the long shot of the race. Has taken her three starts to win but hasn’t lost since then and she’s yet to lose at the distance. The signs are showing that she should find this a bit hard as this isn’t a allowance race and she won’t get things her own way here. She is the winner of the benelux series juvenile and this is her first start back from a spell which also happens to be her first start to her three year old career. Hard to see her win this but don’t think she’s the worst in the field.
