Can PERFECT BEAST(KY) Do It Again In 2012

Hello everyone and welcome to sunny Surrey where we have a good days of racing ahead of us. The weather is fine and warm so expect a big crowd to turn up as there are 2 GRP1, 3 GRP2, and 1 GRP3 race on offer today. There are a lot of quality horses here today and a lot of nervous owners, as each looks to leave his mark on Saturdays racing. This race was first run in 2001 and unlike most races these days, this one has stayed the same for 11 years. Good luck to all and enjoy what promises to be a great days of racing.

This colt had his first start at GRP1 level last start out, where he surprised everyone when he finished second at 12/1 odds. This will be his first start at the distance but has raced at 2000m pleanty of times so the extra 100m won’t worry him. Has got the one start at the track where he faded in the straight to finish more than 10 lenghts fourth. Should run well but I think he ran his race last start, and don’t think he’ll back up that form here.

Has had the 1 start at the track for a second placing at 2200m and that was last start out. Connections are hoping this race will be the one big race he wins this year, but I’m not convinced about him. I think he can’t win this, but take him at your own risk.

This five year old horse just happens to be the number 1 ranked in this division. He is yet to lose a race at this distance, and add to that he won this race last year. Has only missed the placings once at this class and that was last start out where he didn’t lose much ground, but lost a few placing to finish seventh. R Whisper has jumped aboard on him this year and that has got to be a positive, as that jockey knows this track well. Look for him to bounce back in this race and might just win it again. Got to be considered as the one to beat.

This five year old mare is taking on the boys here today and why not. When you look at her form against the boys, she is yet to finish worse than second. This is her first start at the distance, and she does run better over longer distances. Has had 4 starts at the class for a win and 2 seconds, and probably unlucky at her only miss. Her first start was at this track and is yet to miss a place from 2 starts here, but on the other hand she hasn’t won here. She is in fine form and that is sometimes hard to stop, and that’s why she must be considered as one of the main chances.

Did win a GRP2 and GRP3 race, but his only start at this class came last start out where he was making a bit of ground but not enough to make him competative. Has the 1 start at the track for a fourth, and A Edwards takes the ride on him this time out. Hard to see him winning this, but if you like a bit of value might pay to take him as a place chance.

This five year old horse is named after an AFL champion I believe, but don’t take my word for it. He is having his first start at the distance, and for me he looks better suited at 1600m-1800m races. Both his starts at the class were dissapointing and this will be the first time he runs beyond 2000m. Having his first start at the track, and has the experienced A Powers on his back. Bookies fancy this one as one of the main chances, but I say take him at your own risk.

This four year old colt would prefer a rain affected track, but not going to get that here. Has won at his only start at the distance 3 starts back, and that was at GRP1 class. Has the 5 starts at the class for a win and a third, but is having his first start at the track. He is the long-shot of the race and that’s not cause he’s a bad horse, but when you’re out of form you will attract the bigger odds. Has been well beaten his last 2 starts, so he has been freshend up for this race, and might need a spell after this one. Won’t win this but wouldn’t be surprised if he put in a good run here.

This four year old colt is having his first start at the distance, but is in form. Was very unlucky not to win at his only start at the class. Hasn’t raced much in Group race but when he has he has made them count, but the question mark id how much has he got left to offer. Having his first start at the track but I think D Aniel will give him every chance of winning this. In form horses are hard to beat and if he keeps improving like he does he’ll be worth a thought.

I think his best is past him and don’t think he’ll finish top 5 here.
