Grade-1 Jean Brat Recap

Racing like a 1-5 steam horse, rather than the modest 5-1 favorite, Middle Name Danger coasted home, uncontested at the wire. Ladofmanor had his prize 3year old colt Middle Name Danger tight, fit and as “sharp” as a razor’s edge, and he proved without a doubt that he was easily the best, rolling to a 2 ¼ length victory against what looked to be a balanced and very competitive field of 3-year old’s on form.

Iant6’s colt Sugar Water Clue set a “brisk” early pace, cutting early fractions of 22:22 and 46:81 for the 2 and 4 furlong calls, stalking him 1-2 lengths back were Super26’s Snatch Away and Skunkbred2’s Samuel Bennett, followed by Lenny26’s Bridge Of Skulls. Jockey R Truitt sat coolly on the favorite in 5th, tracking the front group, waiting for the speed to “wilt”. Middle Name Danger made his bold, sweeping move entering the stretch and never looked back, uncontested through the stretch, he waltzed home for the impressive 2 ¼ length win. Meanwhile the pace was taking a toll on the front group and Bestobene2’s colt Galico who rallied from 13th position at the 1st call was steadily improving, picking off horses one by one, easily walking by Bridge Of Skulls and Samuel Bennett, whose jockeys were frantically at their whips trying to keep their colts together in mid stretch, to grab the runner-up honors. Bridge Of Skulls managed to hold it together and complete the trifecta.
