One Mile Classic
Today’s card for the Big Hill group II, is a lottery, most of the horses on display today have the potential to win, a few have shown their cards already. My selections are any of 4,9,1
(9/1) WILD CAT TALES (3yold filly)
TALE OF THE CAT x DANZIG x KRIS S.
Lead up form coming into this race is excellent. Three starts back she won a graded stakes over 8.5furlongs with an impressive time of 105. Last start she was only beaten 1 3/4 length with another impressive time of 105.
She is very consistent, and has blossomed into a nice 3yold filly.
“she will get back and motor home over the final furlong, expect her to be in the mix come the concluding few yards”
(15/1) EMPIRE GOLD (3yold Filly)
EMPIRE MAKER x THEATRICAL(IRE) x SEEKING THE GOLD
Last few starts have been below par. Perhaps better suited in lower class races. In my opinion her last few starts were not over the distance she likes. She goes back to 8 furlongs, where 4starts back she shown glimpses of what she is cable of, clocked 102 over 8.5furlongs.
“A filly that hasn’t shown enough to be in the contention in today’s race, place chance at best, but not the worst today”
(20/1) TEXAS SUNRISE (3yold filly)
DEPUTY MINISTER x STORM CAT x GREY DAWN II
A real roughy, she will be a bystander in today’s Graded stakes. Has no form, Perhaps more suited in lower class races.
“Rough and ready…will surprise if she gets within 5 lengths of the field”
(7/1) THEY CALL ME MAGIC(3yold filly)
DANZIG x NIJINSKY II x INTREPID HERO
Although she was a grade 1 winner last start, she goes up in distance in 1 1/2 furlongs. Her form leading up to this race is superb, but i must question the reason for entering her over 8 furlongs. After saying all this, she is a versatile filly, having produce some impressive times between 6 and 10 furlongs.
“She is pure class, and can do it all, lead, run off the pace in sprint and route racers. It would surprise me to see her win today, but her in your multiples, keep safe”
(14/1) FILET CHEVAL (3yold filly)
MINESHAFT x STORM CAT x VAGUELY NOBLE
One of the real roughies of the field. She has only clocked plus 100 only once in her career, which is a major concern considering so many in this field are at the peek of there careers. But bare in mind that she has shown a glimpse of what she can do 2 starts back with a speed of 105.
“Will find it hard work keeping up with this field, better placed in stakes quality or over longer ground +8furlongs”
(14/1) BUTTON(AUS) (3yold filly)
TESTA ROSSA (AUS) x STORM CAT x SEATTLE SLEW
Probably out classed today, but bare in mind that she defeat some quality fillies to take home a listed grade race over 8.5furlongs. Only query is the distance, she seems to do better when the distance is over more than just a mile.
“She is an explosive mare, but distance and class is a concern. Place chance at best”
(7/1) MAN ON FIRE (3yold filly)
WOODMAN x AJDAL x RIVERMAN
Looks to have found race winning form, an impressive 108 over 8 furlongs last start. Rarely is this filly disgraced. Can be forgiven two starts back, was beaten by 6 1/4 lengths. Take on trust a filly that finds the line. As a 2yold she showed us what she can do, and now she has a chance to take home a graded stakes.
“Has the form, has the ability, will come home strong over the concluding last 2 furlongs. If they are running on she will win!!”
(11/1) LOVALUCE(3yold filly)
STORM CAT x UNBRIDLED x GALLANT MAN
Has had some handy wins in her promising career. Since her win five starts back in a Grade 2 race over 8 1/2 furlongs with speed 102, she hasn’t been able to produce a decent win.
“will find the going hard today, not out of this one, but will need to do something special to win … place chance at best”
(6/1) WHITENER (3yold filly)
DEPUTY MINISTER x SEEKING THE GOLD x A.P. INDY
what a record this filly has, as a 2yold she won 6 from 8 starts, and was able to string a 7 stakes wining streak, hat must be some kind of record. Since this remarkable effort, she has won a group 2 race two starts back, with an impressive speed
of 112 over 8furlongs on dirt. If she can reproduce this type of form, I don’t think the rest stand a chance.
“A remarkable filly, who as promised so much, and has delivery. She will not leave you wondering if only…will hit the line hard. Looms as one of the dangers in this race”
(6/1) BERZERK GOLD (3yold filly)
SEEKING THE GOLD x A.P. INDY x DANZIG
She is in remarkable form, a true stakes horse, has won some big races, and come oh so close in at least half a dozen more. She comes up in distance to a mile where she is more suited. Her last for starts have been over 100 speed, the best 2 starts back run over 8furlongs dirt with speed of 109.
Will definitely be in the money.
“Smart filly, never disgraced, give it all she has, just needs some luck her way and this race will be history”
(24/1) CHRISTAN’S PRIDE (3yold filly)
TWO PUNCH x STORM BIRD x RAISE A NATIVE
The wild card of the race, has no form leading into today’s Graded stakes, will need to run a remarkable race to win today.
Very promising as a 2yold, and hasn’t won since.
“She hasn’t really lived up to expectation, will find the going tough, mid field at best”
(5/1) GENUINE ORANGE (3yold filly)
HANSEL x DEPUTY MINISTER x HABITAT
One of the form horses in the race, she has had some classy wins leading up to this race. Last two starts for two wins, both in graded stakes. Best was twwo starts back winning at an impressive 112 over 8.5furlongs dirt.
“will need to be on the pace early on, if she gets out of the barriers cleanly, will find her self in the mix. Looms as one of the favoured horses to take out this race!!!”
(9/1) DAYLIGHT T(IRE) (2yold filly)
DAYLAMI (IRE) x MAJESTIC LIGHT x STAGE DOOR JOHNNY
Has come of age as a 3yold, last start winner over 9 furlongs with speed of 103. Has had some nice runs since coming back to a dirt track, probably more suited over some more ground, rather than todays mile race. Will need to improve if she is to be a contender.
“A horse on the rise, will win a graded stakes before she retires, but i dont think this is her race. Place chance at best”
(20/1) CITY PROSPECTOR(IRE) 3yold Filly
CENTURY CITY (IRE) x MR. PROSPECTOR x NEVER TABLED
As a two year old she showed some class winning 2 graded stakes and a placing in another. Since then she has been disappointing and hasn’t really gone on with what she did as a 2yold. Will need to regain some lost form if she is to be any kind of threat.
“Out of form group 1 winner who is struggling, can’t she her in the money in this one!!”
