Grade II Hannah Barbera Cap
Did someone say Turkey? Most who will read this question why did I just start the word Turkey with a capitol letter? Well all you Thanksgiving lovers out there will be very disappointed to learn that this is not your ordinary Turkey we are talking about. We are here in the country of Turkey to cover this weeks race, The Hannah Barbera Handicap. It’s another week of sim racing and we here at the BTB are proud to be covering this fillies and mares race which will feature nine girls going a mile and a quarter on the firm turf. It looks to be an exceptional race, and it is anyone’s guess as to who will come out on top of this one. And now the moment we have all been waiting for, here is the call to the track.
PP 1. Groote Stuk will lead us off in gate one today. This four year old mare with a nice pedigree consisting of Dynaformer X Unbridled’s Song X Miswaki, has not once failed to come in lower than third. It is a tough field today though, and owner brasco33 hopes that though the odds are at 8/1, this girl can somehow pull through and make it into the top three again. After starting her career on the dirt, (1 win 1 place and 1 show in three races) she made the switch to dirt and has had improving SP’s ever since. Three of these SP’s have been in the 100 plus range and all those three have come in her last three races. All three of those races were listed stakes and Groote Stuk will be looking to run the same if not top her best SP of 108. Ko Williams will get the ride on Groote Stuk today.
PP2. A five year old mare out of the galileo stable will come out of gate two today. Mambo Carano looks to add to her trophy case as she too looks for her first graded win today. This girl has had an up and down career to say the least. With a pedigree consisting of Teofilo X Dynaformer X Kingmambo, this girl has all the right pieces to break out of here shell anytime. Sitting at 6/1, this girl has spent most of her life on the grass. She has won numerous listed stakes races and well as running numerous SP’s of over 100. One thing she does not have though is a graded win, and she will look for her first today. In three lifetime graded attempts, this girl has finished 5th every time. Recent races suggest she is on the rise and she looks to improve upon that 104 SP she ran last time out. N Cohen will get the ride on her today.
PP3. Now on to a young filly who has had a great racing career so far. This filly is only four years old and already has a nice record of 12 wins in 23 starts. SJ’s Carsonado is one of the few fillies in this race who have that beloved first graded win. She did not stop at just one though as she now boasts a total of five graded wins, including winning the Breeders’ Bowl Filly Juvy and the Juvenile Filly in back to back races as a two year old. She has not been as fit as of late and owner thebigm hopes that this 9/2 filly with a pedigree of Bertrando X Carson City X Affirmed can step it back up after three wins in her last four races, all of which have come at the listed stakes level. D B Cooper will get the mount here today.
PP4. The middle three horses in today’s race consists of three horses all who have about the same odds. Northern Town opens up that group out of the four gate with odds of 7/1. This young four year old mare was a nice breeding consisting of Northern Meteor X Dynaformer X Carson City. Owner paddy decided four races back that a dirt try may be the best option after running a 109 on the dirt earlier in his career. That attempt failed though and the switch back to the turf has proven to be a nice boost for this young girl. Two wins in three races have been the result, though her other graded try last time out ended with a fourth place finish. She has not failed to run under 100 though in the last three races and she hopes to improve upon her 110 two races back. Getting the ride today will be jockey J Castillo.
PP5. Brutal Truths will shoot out of the five gate today being the favorite at 7/2. This five year old mare has had no trouble finding the winners circle with 11 career wins. He has failed to hit the board in just 7 of 27 career races. With a pedigree of Curlin X Sadler’s Wells X Mill Reef, who would of ever doubted that this girl would like the turf. The good thing for owner fairhaven2 is that this girl is finally starting to find her stride. In her last seven races, she has run over a 100 SP in every race finishing with a 3-1-2-1 record. Her highest SP came in her first and last graded win which was a 113 SP in a Grade III win four races back. T Snider will get the mount on Brutal Truths today.
PP6. Rounding out the middle group with odds of 6/1 is Kriegsherr. This four year old mare out of Monsun X Blushing Groom X Storm Bird, has just 16 races under her belt, though she has just failed to hit the board in one of those races. That came in a 4th place attempt in a Grade III race in which she did run a 100 SP. In two graded attempts so far, this girl has hit the board in one finishing third three races back in a Grade III. She makes the jump in class today and hopes she can improve upon her best SP of 108. Kriegsherr will get the mount of L Betts today.
PP7. The final three horses in today’s field consist of three young horses all of which have under twenty career races. We start with the long shot Off Limits who is out of Street Cry X Deep Impact X Sadler’s Wells. This girl is young and relatively untested in her eleven races in her career so far. She has proven though that she can step up to any challenge winning seven of those races. She has run in just one graded race and two other listed stakes in her young career. She has just one win in those races as well finishing 5th and 6th in the other two. She is the long shot in today’s race though she is sitting on morning line odds of 12/1. She is owned by ragman and will be ridden by S Burby.
PP8. In gate eight we have the four year old mare Seaing Stars. This girl out of Sea The Stars X Montjeu X Rainbow Quest will be looking to take down the field with odds of 7/1. She is no stranger to the stakes or graded ranks as she has eight graded attempts and 16 overall stakes races in 21 career races. She is .666 in hitting the board in those races with hitting 14 out of the 21 times. She looks to match or even improve upon her best SP of 111 which came in a first place listed stakes finish back in November of last year. Her last race was a little disappointment as she finished 9th in a ten horse race and ran a 98 SP. Will a short month rest be enough for this girl today? We will find out. Mounting Seaing Stars today will be Pe Elliot.
PP9. Rounding out today’s field will be the four year old mare Fiddle Dee Dee. This girl out of Raven’s Pass X Dynaformer X Nureyev has been running great as of late and looks to improve upon her performance last time out. This resulted in a lifetime best 111 SP and a first place finish in a listed stakes which took place about a month ago. She will take her first step into the graded waters this week after running in four straight listed stakes races and finishing first in three of those races. She finished second in the other. SP’s have been on the rise for this girl and owner dosstables hopes the 6/1 odds are enough to get her some love as well as a win here today. Jockey G Painter will get the ride.
Well today’s field looks to be a dandy with any one of these horses having a shot to take their trip to the winners circle. Personally, I think that it will be a close race, and I would not be surprised to see just about every one of these horses make it into the 100 SP range. If I had to pick, which I fail at most of the time, I would take the 2, 5, 9 trifecta box. I like Mambo Carano to improve her graded totals today and I feel like this is the race. The great thing about this game and horse racing in general is that you cannot really predict anything. Everything is a mystery in this business. That’s going to wrap it up here from Turkey. I want to thank you all for reading today and remind you to check out the BTB forum for all your sim readings. For Squirrel, Roys, and I as well as everyone who is a writer at the BTB we thank you for your support and hope you enjoy. As always good luck to all racers.
