Off Track a Joy for A.S. Carson

A.S Carson proved her affection for an off track in the Rich Tree Challenge today in Queensland. The $55,000 turf stakes for three year old and up fillies and mares was run in a light drizzle but the Fosters guzzling crowd didn’t seem to mind and neither did A.S. Carson.

Johnstables four year old Pine Bluff filly won her 12th race in 28 tries and more importantly for this race is four for four on an off track. She looked like she was too far off the pace at the halfway point but put it into a gear that no one else had and won going away. She moved up to sixth in the Long Turf rankings for four year olds and looked like she is ready to move up that ranking as well.

Tonnochi Road leapt out to the lead in what looked like a jailbreak start and built what looked like an insurmountable margin at the half. She was nearly nine lengths up on the second place In the Habit but wasn’t able to hold on against Carson who swept by easily in the stretch. Tonnochi Road was able to hold on for second and Four Sixes got a paycheck by finishing in third.

Johnstable will have to keep one eye on the weather and the other on his prized filly as he looks for more off tracks for A.S. Carson to dominate.
