1- SHADES OF ALEX 17/1
AFLEET ALEX x A.P. INDY x DEPUTY MINISTER
Owner: Knightmare Stables
Jockey: V Gardiner
Career: 12-7-0-$605,510
Here is a three year old filly that should have her work cut out for her if she is going to win this race. She does have a grade three Jersey Oaks win on her resume in which she posted a 111 speed figure. She will need to have a break out performance here. This nice young filly is full of potential.
2-THE WORD 11/1
A.P. INDY x SADLER’S WELLS x KINGMAMBO
Owner: Given Stables
Jockey: F Gossett
Career: 36-13-6-7-$2,213,919
This 2010 GR Simsters championship distaff winner has a long list of credentials. She showed a great deal of speed back in May when she won the Cane Lois Stakes while posting a 111 speed figure. Recently she has seemed to slow down. Last time out she was given what would seem to be a breather in allowances but only managed a second place finish. If she regains form and likes going back to dry dirt she could factor in this race.
3-LINDY HOP 27/1
AWESOME AGAIN x STREET CRY (IRE) x NIJINSKY II
Owner: Super Stables
Jockey: T Small
Career: 18-4-2-3-$1,554,375
The often imitated and never duplicated stables of Super bring this three year old filly to the big dance. She has shown a penchant for closing quick down the stretch but has really failed to make a big splash since March when she won the Miss Bonnie Grade two race. She is capable of a big emergence if she can regain form.
4-ARTEMIS AND APOLLO 7/1
MONTJEU (IRE) x KINGMAMBO x PLEASANT COLONY
Owner: Super Stables
Jockey: P Harzheim
Career: 27-9-6-6-$1,675,596
This four year old gal is probably Super stables best shot in this race. She is coming off a poor grade one performance in California but prior had managed a first and second in grade two races over eight and a half furlongs. She finished 13th in this race last year but she does have a big win a grade one this year after winning the Orange Blossom by two lengths. She is capable of posting a big speed number as her 115 in the Orange Blossom shows. If she rebounds from her last start she will close fast and factor in this race.
5-WIKIPEDIA 9/1
A.P. INDY x SPEIGHTSTOWN x DEPUTY MINISTER
Owner: Lilbit Farms
Jockey: A Rolling
Career: 28-11-7-6-$632,547
WIKIPEDIA finished second in the grade one Super Filly Handicap in September. She also won a grade two back in May. She has shown that she is capable and has posted consistently solid speed figures. She should factor in this race. She is an example of another fine example for Lilbit Farms.
6-MUSIC OF DRAGONS 12/1
UNBRIDLED’S SONG x SECRETARIAT x NORTHERN DANCER
Owner: Given Stables
Jockey: J Caves
Career: 26-11-3-3-$593,859
This five year old has shown great form as of late. She is coming off second and first place finishes in back to back grade ones. She should be on or near the front of the lead in this one. You gotta love the pedigree and results with MUSIC OF DRAGONS. This is a serious threat to take this race.
7-UNION JACK FLYER 6/1
A.P. INDY x AWESOME AGAIN x STORM CAT
Owner: ScotsAnglo Stables
Jockey: K Ledwith
Career: 18-8-5-2-$1,362,420
This lady has the form and consistency you just do not see in some of these other pretenders. She consistently post her speed figures above 107/108 for the most part. She has won three grade one races at nine furlongs this year. UNION JACK FLYER is quite simply in a class of her own.
8-EMPIRE HAACK 5/1
EMPIRE MAKER x PEINTRE CELEBRE (IRE) x FORTY NINER
Owner: Otto Haack Stables
Jockey: O A HAACK
Career: 32-14-3-3-$1,325,650
If UNION JACK FLYER is in a class of her own than EMPIRE HAACK is not far off. The favorite is coming off back to back commanding victories over eight and a half furlongs. She should finish strong and factor into the money in this race for sure.
9-YOU SEE LA 14/1
SPECIAL WEEK x STORM CAT x KINGMAMBO
Owner: Next Bonus Racing
Jockey: D Givens
Career: 23-11-2-5-$2,316,175
This four year old is coming off a nine and a half furlong third place finish in a grade three. She won the grade two Canada back in February. She hit a rough spell back in June and July but really appears to be over that now. She may be coming back into form at just the right time. Only in the sim would Dan Givens decide not to ride his own horse.
10-LANA TURNER 28/1
STREET CRY (IRE) x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY (IRE) x FAPPIANO
Owner: Super Stables
Jockey: H Harzheim
Career: 16-6-2-2-$986,860
Back in June this three year old won the grade one Sister Hen Stakes. She really has not had good form since. All the top level racing has seemed to catch up to this gal but if she could regain form she may surprise us.
11-ANTIMATTER 8/1
STORM CAT x MISWAKI x DANEHILL
Owner: Fastnfirm Stables
Jockey: O Osbourne
Career: 29-12-6-3-$845,141
It is always nice to see entries that are coming directly off big wins. Last time out ANTIMATTER won the grade one Great Dame while posting a 106 speed figure. She will be looking to try and repeat back to back. She has a great chance of factoring in the money in this race. The veteran six year old should not be dismissed.
12-HAIL THE THUNDER 16/1
THUNDER GULCH x UNBRIDLED x HAIL TO REASON
Owner: Phillipj’s Comeback Stables
Jockey: D Evans
Career: 9-5-3-1-$737,280
Here is a three year old with a lot to love. She is in good form and on a three race winning streak. I love the unconventional pedigree. I love the 111 she posted in the grade one Birmingham Stakes. She has nine career races and everyone of them she has finished in the money. I can’t see why she shouldn’t be in the money in this one. She is offering great betting value.
13-SKIDMORE INDY 7/1
A.P. INDY x SADLER’S WELLS x KINGMAMBO
Owner: Jrogue Stables
Jockey: A Jolly
Career: 41-12-7-4-$2,621,846
SKIDMORE INDY is a feisty old veteran who just keeps going and going. She may have over forty starts but her last one resulted in a grade one victory. She is consistently tough and a threat to go wire to wire. She should get the lead in this race. If she does she will be tough to catch.
14-SAN FRAN GOLD 9/1
GIANT’S CAUSEWAY (IRE) x DEPUTY MINISTER x ALYDAR
Owner: Papracing Stables
Jockey: D Sherman
Career: 24-6-4-4-$779,190
SAN FRAN GOLD is a consistently fast filly at this distance. She will need to rebound from a three race stretch of disappointing finishes. If she can get back into the form she should in the D-Day Distaff and overcome a tough pole position she can factor in this race.
Fast Track Eddie’s Prediction
Well that is the field folks. I will look for SKIDMORE INDY to take the early lead. UNION JACK FLYER and EMPIRE HAACK will rally late. UNION JACK FLYER wins, followed by EMPIRE HAACK with SKIDMORE INDY finishing third.
Best of luck to all the owners/trainers who made it into the race and good luck.
