The sim gets coverage of two weeks of Breed My Steed all in one! Ain’t the sim lucky?
Six steeds hit the track week 4694 and three scored points. It was a decent week of racing for Comedy Central’s Breed My Steed series.
Goldsmith trained Girl Fighter to a solidly closing second over the UAE main course. It was her third start and her first in local bred company in good weather. She posted a 63sp as she was beaten by two lengths. Given her pedigree (her dam is a daughter of Dansili) she may be trying turf shortly. Dydalt bred the Battle Plan filly who now has a fourth third and second; a win has to be next.
Comedy Central’s funniest (and only) Texan Canyongate entered Caviar for his second consecutive third place finish. The Holy Roman Emperor colt, bred by Simaddict, posted an improved 66SP but finished six lengths back. Out of a Came Home mare, she may find success on dirt.
Hawkz‘ charge Indysaint wins the award for most-improved speed figure from debut to second start. The A.P. Indy filly earned a mere 50sp on a turf start, but found dirt more to her liking and ran a 74 in a closing second place effort. She was just a quarter-length short of victory at 6f at Eastern Kentucky. The filly was bred by Squirrel from a Saint Liam mare.
Also running was Eff Canada. The Harbinger colt made his third start in the Vilnus Kid Dirt Juvenile. It was a logical move for trainer Cmd, given the colt had won his second start (a dirt debut) with a solid 71sp, but the end result was a 15sp drop and a 12th place finish. Redhill is the breeder of record.
Cmd bred the next runner, Apology in Advance. The Zensational filly went from a narrow victory on debut straight into the G2 Vermont BB Juvenile Filly for trainer Aboot. Apology finished fifth, fading slightly to lose by just under three lengths.
The final starter was Strange Hero. Redhill’s steed has slowly been improving his loss margin and speed figure with each start, but slow is the key word. Most recently the Hussonet colt went 6f over the NSW turf course and finished last by just under 9f, but that’s better than the 10f loss last time, of the 14f loss in debut. Psyduck bred the colt from an El Prado mare who found moderate success in the rain; maybe Redhill will start watching the weather reports and plotting his campaign accordingly.
Raceweek 4701 saw just one steed hit the track, and she came home with a paycheck and points. Sapphire Sally made her third start for trainer Squirrel. The Tapit filly, bred by Tartar, finished 4th in a 5.5f maiden. The 61SP was a drop from her previous high and means she likely moves to grass for her next start.
Still leading Breed My Steed is Summer Sensation, trained by Sluggy and bred by Hawkz.
