Nine 2YOs Set to Gun It Out, in the G3 AZ Shoot-Out
The Shoot-Out Special this year is packed with potential! Nine talented fillies will go head to head to see who will become the first graded winner. Among these fillies is Garaballa, sister to richest 3yo Adjuge, who looks for her 3rd consecutive win on Saturday. To achieve this she will have to beat the favorite, Incredible Show and 7 other explosive fillies.
Anything is possible with lightly raced 2 year old horses. Any one of these fillies could be ready to make their next big improvement and leave the others in the dust. This race is a major betting pay-out waiting to happen. Hopefully this article can help someone find the winning combo.

Horse Name ODDS Trainer Last Speed#
Pp 1) H.H. Boundary 20/1 Svdstables 69
H.H. is the only horse in this field with a stakes start or win. She is shipping from NJ where she won the Hard Headed Woman Stakes 28 days ago. She broke her maiden 28 days before the stake with a 61 SP#. She is the most experienced and can hopefully increase her SP# by a similar margin. This horse is bred to sprint. Her sire is Henny Hughes, his offspring have run in sprint races 73% of the time. He gives much more speed influence than stamina to his offspring.
Pp 2) Latenite Investmnt 14/1 Indeath 71
Latenite Investmnt won the first NWRC Residency MSW race of the year. She has the shortest shipping distance of the whole field having to only travel from California. She has the number one jockey in W Kewmwa, who happened to win this race last year on a Midnight Lute filly. Kewmwa has won at 33% this year and is ITM 72%. Latenite investmnt has real champion sprint pedigree with Midnight Lute as her sire and Henny Hughes as her dam sire. Midnight Lute won the Breeders’ Cup Sprint twice in his career.
Pp 3) Incredible Show 2/1 Tg1 77
Incredible show put on an incredible show in her debut in NY, running 5f in 58:4/5 sec. She has the highest SP# in the race and arguably the best sire in the race in Awesome Again. Her Game Dam, Incredible Rip, won six stakes and three of those were at 16f. Incredible Rip’s last three offspring have placed or won stakes themselves. One is a graded winner although it too was over a mile. Although it doesn’t say much about Incredible Show’s speed, this says a lot about her class. She also has a class jockey in N Gardner, who has won this race twice.
Pp 4) Garaballa 6/1 Har 68
Garaballa is two for two in her race career. She has won two allowance races in DB. Her debut on the turf she ran a 58 and then a 68 going 5f on the dirt her next out. This is another filly with real class and a proven family. The Turf sensation Adjuge is her older brother. He is the richest 3yo, with earnings of $2.9mil. She is not a full sister, but both sires come from the A.P. Indy line.
pp 5) No More Snow 12/1 Elite5 56
This horse is special to this race in many ways. No More Snow is one of only 3 horses in the race to have ever seen Allowance company or higher. She is also the only horse without a win. She ran a game second in a field of seven, going 5f in Montana. No More Snow is a South African bred making her the only non Kentucky bred in the race. Her sire is the second year sire A.P. Arrow. He produced one graded winner last year in his first breeding crop. This filly and her trainer Elite5 are in connections with the Squirrel Empire, and will surely be ready to make a big improvement on race day.
Pp 6) Saturday Addition 13/1 Kennyg 73
Saturday Addition is shipping in from Kentucky after winning a 5.5f MSW on 3/26/11. She has run in two MSW races, finishing fourth in the first race and then winning the second. She is training perfect her last race was 35 days ago. She was able to increase her SP# by 10 points in the 35 days between her first two races, look for her to improve again. She is bred for this race considering her game dam Silver Kicker won three stakes races at 6f or less.
pp 7) Caustic Warrior 7/2 Broadbrush 75
Caustic Warrior has one start and one win. He is shipping from NY, where he won his debut on an off track. He is coming into the race with the second fastest SP#. He is well rested with 8 weeks between races and should be feeling good. He is by a first year sire named Warrior’s Reward, who has 22% winners this year. Caustic Warrior’s dam side is beastly with a dam sire – damdam sire combo of Distorted Humor and Unbridled’s Song. This well bred horse look like one of the ones to beat.
Pp 8) Night Rider K 10/1 Targetfarm 66
Targetfarms has this horse shipping in from Ireland. This filly beat 12 horses in her 6f debut. She went to the lead and never looked back. Only time will tell if she is fast enough to win at 4.5F. Her game dam Nocturnal Blush never won a sprint race. She is by a highly underutilized sire that goes by the name of Harlington. In Harlington’s three year career he has produced 110 and 3 of those have went on to be graded winners. Last year he had produced Graded Winners in over 6% of his offspring, 33 horses and 2 graded winners.
Pp 9) Placater 5/2 Picaso 71
Picaso’s stable is doing really well, winning 22% of the time. Placater is coming off eight weeks rest after winning her debut in Kentucky going 5F in 59:1/5 sec. This was another front runner that has never been pressured. The outside post could be good for her. Her sire is Quality Road, a first year sire with 13% winners so far. Placater has a stellar back end breeding with Seattle Slew as the dam sire and Mr. Prospector as the DD sire. Breeding like that gives one real potential for greatness. As the second favorite, she is expected to improve a lot off her first race.
