Quickly from the middle goes Danza Macbra and along side is Galeos. That pair quickly angles into the rail and is followed by Voodoo Smile and :Light of Heaven, both off to a very good start from the outside posts. Shine on Through follows them with Not So Cheap dropping back and the early trailers are Dylan Tom N Jerry and Sadler Rock.
The field makes their way down the back stretch for the first time and Danza Macbra has taken command by a length. Galeos hands on the outside as Voodoo Smile edges up the rail. Following cover on the outside is Light of Heaven.
Approaching the quarter pole and Danza Macbra has opened a two length lead. Galeos can’t get to the rail as Voodoo Smile has that path to himself. Light of Heaven still riding the outside as the field is by the quarter pole in :48-flat.
Danza Macbra takes the field into the turn and has a near 3 lengths on Galeos. Voodoo Smile gains on the rail with Light of Heaven a length and a half back. It’s two back to Shine on Through in the fifth position and another two to Not So Cheap. Then there’s a huge gap of a good 5 lengths to Sadler Rock and Dylan Tom N Jerry. Nearly 20 lengths between the leader and the trailer.
The field comes to the half in 1:37.4 with the second quarter in a slower :49.4. It’s still Danza Macbra on top by nearly three strides but the field is now setting its sight on the leader!!! Into the Clubhouse turn and finding daylight on the inside is Voodoo Smile who quickly rushes to grab the lead and following is Light of Heaven. Swinging to the outside is Galeos as they all rush by Danza Macbra who looks to be done for the day. Shine on Through is about five off the lead with Not So Cheap swinging to the outside. Starting to rev things up are the late closers Sadler Rock and Dylan Tom N Jerry.
Down the backstretch and it’s Voodoo Smile on the inside and Light of Heaven on the outside running as a pair. Galeos is three behind them and Danza Macabra continues to lose ground. Not So Cheap and Shine on Through are not making much headway and are a good 8 strides back as Sadler Rock and Dylan Tom N Jerry continue to make up ground.
By the three-quarters in 2:27.1 with the third quarter run in :49.2. Into the final turn and the battle on the front remains between Voodoo Smile with Light of Heaven riding the outside Galeos is still holding on to third but here come the late runners. Sadler Rock and Dylan Tom n Jerry are picking off horses one at a time as they swing wide.
Down the stretch!!!! It’s still Voodoo Smile with Light of Heaven being encouraged by jockey Bailey. Kowalkowski is going to the whip on Voodoo as Light of Heaven matches strides and now makes it to the front. Light of Heaven slowly pulls away from Voodoo Smile as Sadler Rock moves into third but it’s going to be Light of Heave, at the wire with the victory, ridden by R. Bailey this will be his 6th career win in 15 starts. Finishing second was Voodoo Smile and Sadler Rock takes the show position. Time for the two miles was 3:27.3 with the last quarter going a much, much slower 1:00.2.
