Ur In For A Long Race!
France– The $75,000 Yellow Snowman Stakes will send five sophomore fillies the grueling distance of two miles. The main dirt track is expected to be fast. www.doubledeposit.com
The 8/5 favorite is Hollow Victory (GB). The Great One, J. Stivers, is aboard. The Beat Hollow (GB) filly has two wins, six seconds and four thirds in 20 career starts. She has never been past 13F in her career and seems to do her best work at around 10-11F. Her late running style should pay off if Stivers can get her to relax for the first nine furlongs or so.
Diving Dolphin (IRE) is 5/2 under L. Woodard. Daughter of Daylami (IRE) has four wins in nine tries. She spends most of her time in Germany, but has shipped here once before and was victorious. Hasn’t tried anything past 9.5 furlongs and that could be a problem for the front-runner. Will need to slow the pace down to a crawl in order to stay the distance.
High Flyer is 3/1. R. Truitt gets the call. Dixie Union filly has been the bride’s maid four times to her one win across the dirt. She has tried this distance twice with mixed results. Lone start in France came on the weeds where she was trounced in a GIII at 5/1. Experience at this distance should put her ahead of those who have never tried before.
At 9/2 is Tete Astaroth (GB). R. Kraft is up. Diesis (GB) filly probably doesn’t belong in a stake race, but with a short field one can never second-guess her trainer. She looks rather erratic in her pp’s and her recent form is horrible. Just the type that usually jumps 15 points and wins a race like this. Your call.
Tete Exodus (IRE) is 5/1. Like her stablemate, she doesn’t belong at this level. Has a good jock in R. Stevenson so, the Desert King (IRE) progeny has that going for her. Has a good stalking style that typically fares well in France. Seemed to enjoy 12F five back, but this is 16F and Stevenson will need to make a difference.
