The Te(xas) (Fe)sti(val) (Specta)cle
Juvenile Filly Dirt 8.5f
The Comedy Central Residency brings the The Te(xas) (Fe)sti(val) (Specta)cle to the sim this weekend with an 8 race series with races run over a variety of distances and surfaces for horses of all ages. Members of Comedy Central will battle it out accumulating points in races with the top 4 scorers over all having their choice of 4 well bred prize horses.
The next race we will look at is the Juvenile Filly Dirt race run over 8.5 furlongs for the soon to be 3 year olds fillies. Although entry is restricted we still see a quality line up for what looks to be an exciting race with stakes winners and place getters in the field. They will be battling it out for a share of the $125 000 that is up for grabs.
1. YES ITS SILVER(KY) 8/1
(YES IT’S TRUE x DISTORTED HUMOR x SLEWACIDE)
C Gross ( 83 – 9 – 5 – 12 – 11% )
Yes Its Silver is the only stakes winner in the field winning the Victorious Shadow Memorial at his last start, over 6 furlongs on the dirt. On that occasion he led the whole way after jumping quickly, he has led and won at 3 of his 5 career starts and looks the early leader here from an ideal gate. His speed figures haven’t been great with a high of 79 and his best form is over shorter but expect to see her leading this for a long way.
2. ROGUE HOE(IRE) 8/1
(HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR x EMPIRE MAKER x KINGMAMBO)
J Webb ( 531 – 83 – 83 – 72 – 16% )
This well bred 2yo filly has only missed the money in one of her 6 career starts. She has been a consistent place getter before breaking her maiden last time out when victorious over 7 furlongs with a speed figure of 86. It looks like the distance should suit and she looms as a threat in this.
3. FINAL BARS(KY) 7/1
(UNBRIDLED’S SONG x FORTY NINER x THEATRICAL(IRE)
V Waddle ( 128 – 19 – 17 – 16 – 15% )
This 2yo filly is out of a Forty Niner mare who won 5 of 25 starts and earned over $140 000 for connections. She has so far had a first and second from 4 career starts and looks to be suited by the switch back to dirt after failing last time out on turf. Being by Unbridled Song she should appreciate the distance and looks a good chance of hitting the board in what is a very even race.
4. ABSENT MINDED(NY) 15/1
(NOONMARK x DANEHILL x TOM ROLFE)
Se Hall ( 85 – 8 – 10 – 16 – 9% )
This bargain bred by Noonmark out of a moderate performing/producing Danehill mare has managed to win 1 of 6 career starts to date. On that occasion she finished hard from 12th to win over 8 furlongs on the dirt with an 80 speed figure. She has since struggled and will need to improve to pose a threat to favourites in this one.
5. SPECIAL RIDE(KY) 5/1
(AWESOME AGAIN x
I Rosenbach ( 113 – 18 – 14 – 11 – 16% )
A beautifully bred filly by Awesome Again out of an outstanding producing
6. AND STUFF(KY) 5/1
(MINESHAFT x
G Post ( 69 – 4 – 10 – 3 – 6% )
And Stuff is the second foal of Muds and Suds after she previously produced stakeswinner Ignorify. This brown filly has shown ability, particularly since being stepped up to 8 furlongs and beyond. At this stage she has won 2 of 3 on turf and hasn’t registered a dirt win but did run well last time out over 8.5 furlongs on dirt to run 2nd with and 89 speed figure. A similar run will see her prominent in this.
7. BORN TO BLITZEM(AUS) 9/1
(REDOUTE’S CHOICE (AUS) x WAR CHANT x DYNAFORMER)
T Ace ( 810 – 200 – 160 – 144 – 25% )
This Australian bred Redoute’s Choice filly has improved sharply since switching from turf to dirt with wins at 3 of her last 4 races. She likes to be on the pace and ran out 8 furlongs strongly last time out when a winner with a 88 speed figure. A repeat of that performance would see her in the firing line for a long way.
8. HORATIO TWO TO ONE(AR) 5/1
(FAN THE FLAME x SEEKING THE GOLD x
C Shoemaker ( 730 – 146 – 139 – 129 – 20% )
Another filly that has improved sharply recently since moving from turf races to dirt. She has been impressive recently and now has won 3 of 4 on the dirt with her only blemish being a 2nd placing when she was finishing strongly but couldn’t quite catch the leader. At her last 2 she has won with 88 and 87 speed figures and although untested over longer than 7.5 furlongs she has been finishing strongly and the trip looks like it will suit. A huge chance.
9. DANCE INDY FLAMES(AR) 6/1
(FAN THE FLAME x A.P. INDY x NORTHERN DANCER)
P Jolly ( 234 – 33 – 41 – 37 – 14% )
Another on speed runner and another Fan The Flame filly. She has already had 7 career starts and registered 1 win and 4 minor placings. She has been well placed by connections often taking on small fields and was good last time out when placing in a stakes race on dirt over the same distance. On that occasion she led and just went down in the concluding stages finishing with an 83 speed figure. Expect to see her up the front for a lot of this race.
10. THE THIRD CONCHORD(KY) 7/1
(FUSAICHI PEGASUS x SUNDAY SILENCE x VICE REGENT)
J Lucas ( 80 – 6 – 10 – 9 – 8% )
This brown 2yo filly has had 2 career starts to date jumping from the gates slowly before making up good ground in the run to the line. She won her maiden on her first attempt coming from 11th at the half way mark to win running away over 6 furlongs. Last time out when stepped up to this distance she finished better than most coming from 17th to finish 5th in a good quality allowance race. She will be strong at the end and expect to see her chewing up the leaders late.
11. CUZ HE KNEW(ID) 19/1
(CAUSE
S R
Cuz He Knew is a brown filly who has won 3 of 4 career starts to date over a variety of distances. She likes to settle just behind the leaders before grinding home late, she has improved at every start and managed to win last time out over 8.5 furlongs with an 83 speed figure. She will need to improve further to win this but is definitely capable.
It looks like a great race, good luck to all involved.
My tips:
1. Horatio Two To One
2. Special Ride
3. And Stuff
