A Tribute to a King”Man”
Losing a bet is often painful. It has resulted in many embarrassing situations including men dressing like women (I know some like Laz do that for fun but I digress), dressing like a chicken or a host of other pride lowering feats. I can honestly say losing this bet is right up there so let me explain a bit about what has transpired.
Many of you know Kingman (Mike) as a long time sim player and chat room regular and we had an interesting discussion sometime in September. He was EMPHATIC that his Stephen Got Even three year colt A.P. Assault was going to win a graded race by the end of the year after a smashing allowance score in which he ran a 110 speed figure. I told him he was crazy and that this horse stood little to no chance of winning a graded event by year end since he had shown little run in his Lyons Club Derby effort and I figured the year coming to an end was working against him. But Kingman had it right and I was wrong this colt had it in him and proved it this Saturday with a SMASHING win in the Grade 2 Hamburg Hall, against older to boot! Perhaps most impressively he romped against a talented field that included four graded winners most notably Not So Cheap who has earned 2.6 million dollars in his illustrious career.
A.P. Assault is by Stephen Got Even (a talented son of AP Indy) that is most famous for having won the Donn Handicap at the age of 4. As a real life sire he has shown promise already siring Breeder’s Cup Juvenile winner Stevie Wonderboy and Wood Memorial/Gotham winner I Want Revenge. Most recently he has given us First Dude who was a real game horse this year and finished ITM more times then I can count.
In the SIM Mike has scored the first graded win ever for Stephen Got Even which is quite impressive considering he has only had one stakes winner since 2007. Perhaps Mike has stumbled onto something and found a sire that has some potential pop given his real life accomplishments and pedigree. Just checked the tickers and he is down to 75 credits/bps at that price you can not go wrong and would be wise to give him a shot. Mike’s particular horse has a Storm Cat X Broad Brush backend which is quite strong considering that the AP Indy X Storm Cat nick is one of the strongest in the sim. The mating makes a beautiful 4X4 to legendary Secretariat and could account for a lot of the success of A.P. Assault.
Well done Mike this simulated Bud’s for you.
