Bargain Bowl Is On part 1

The plane has just touched down from New Zealand in Eastern Kentucky with the HAWKZ runners for the Bowl. It was a long trip but all travelled well and will have their first hit out Tuesday ready to storm the stakes races. This is the biggest day on the calendar for me . I may never have a Breeders Bowl runners but that doesn’t worry me. The bargain series has been hard fought this year and Ihope many more of you enter them next year

Best chances

Class Ack Juvenile – 2yr 8f Turf

Hawkz CATCH THE BEEL(NZ)

desbargain MISALLOCATION(FR)

These two have battled out the 2yrold turf races and another close race looks likely

It is Misallocation domination on the turf for two year olds. This filly has been good to dominant routing her rivals last time out in the Winchester by 2 and 3/4 lengths. She also won the Sandford Park prior to that by a 1 and 1/2 lengths. Her only loss has come on an off turf surface so many of her competitors may be praying for rain.

Hawkz PHARWAYZ(NM)

Dragnil EAGLE VIEW(SAF)

With an extra race the two year old racing has been exciting this year. Eagle View holds the upper hand having won the Amity and finished second in the Ginger Ale. Pharwayz showed she enjoyed the stretch out over a mile and that she can handle the boys.

Silent Witness – 5.5f Turf

Hawkz PLAYERS CHAMPION(TX)

Sultry DIAMOND CANYON(IRE)

Players Champion has been the only consistent runner in this division this year. Last year he was second in this race so this could be his year. There are several runners capable of winning this race, it is a pretty wide open division but Players Champion has put himself in a real good position to earn a Bargie.

Historically this race has not produced big speed figures. Many of the Bargain Bowl events have produced 100+ speed figures but this race has not done that yet. Starinsky still holds the record from the 1st running of the race with a 99 speed figure. Fillies have won twice and two other times held the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th places. The second fastest winner was by the other filly winner Wu Jen with a 98 speed figure. So fillies can and have done well.

Division Standings

149105 Diamond Canyon 10
128515 Count Zimzam 6
148211 Battle it Out 4

hawkz REWA DREAMIN(KY)

Safrace2 GYPSY’S WARNING(SAF)

There has been a very good back and forth battle in this division between Wariuz Corp and Gypsy’s Warning. Wariuz Corp won the Paint Brush, while finishing second in the Sugar & Spice. Gypsy’s Warning won the Sugar & Spice and was second in the Paint Brush. Slave to Tradition has finished third in both races but likely goes in a different race in the Bargain Bowl.

This back and forth has been going on for a while now as Gypsy’s Warning beat Wariuz Corp last year separated by a head.

Division Standings
149065 Wariuz Corp 16
169771 Gypsy’s Warning 16
181291 Slave to Tradition 8
165131 Meat Cleaver 2
173707 Handooine 2

Tale of Two Places – 6f Dirt

Hawkz Roaring Hawkz

Lifeline2 CT’S GUN RUNNER(CAN)
Roaring Hawkz has won the two divisional races this year defeating Ct’s Gun Runner both times. A decent showing here locks down the Bargie. Roaring Hawkz won last years event after Ballista had won the two divisional races during the year. Will be interesting to see if the tables are turned of if Roaring Hawkz can be the first to sweep the division.
The top three finishers have been new horses every year. No one has come close to repeating as a winner or hitting the board in more than one event. A filly won the very first event and is the only filly to win. The record holder is Ballista who posted a 109 speed figure in the 2007 Tale of Two Places.
Division Standings
175311 Roaring Hawkz 20
180356 CT’s Gun Runner 12
