G2 Spring Hill Stakes
The Spring Hill Stakes is a Grade 2 race in Surrey England for all fillies and mares going one mile on firm turf. 7 Fillies will take to the gate in attempt to win the majority of the $250,000 Purse.
1. BIONIC HAACK (IRE) 2 year old filly (Shamardal X Danzig X Sadler’s Wells) Trained by Castillete, This filly I 3 wins for three starts but has never tried the grass. Bred to love it with every fiber of her being. She has two allowance wins and a top speed of 75 going 5.5 furlongs. This race is longer than anything she has run and an entirely different surface. Will be a tough race for her but if she runs to her breeding she should be fine.
2. BLADE INCISION (KY) 2 year old filly (Henrythenavigator x Montjeu X Rainbow Quest) This filly is trained by Foxon7, and broke her maiden on first asking. She then won a stakes race putting up an 80 speed going 6.5 furlongs. She started next in a Grade 3 7 furlong race which turned out poorly. She finished up the track with a 72 speed. I am guessing she was not hurt in that race because it was only 4 weeks ago but that finish at the longer distance suggests something went wrong or she does not like that long. She is bred to love long on turf but that last race has me worried. Talented filly hopefully she can get back to form.
3. QUANTIFIER (AUS) 2 year old filly (Elvstroem X Broad Bush X Round Table) Trained by Seedley, this filly has three starts and just broke her maiden last time out. What is good is she shows that she likes the longer distance. She had a speed increase and a win her first and only race over a turf mile. This unlike some of the other starters shows that she runs, the others are bred to but show some dislike for distance. This girl likes it and that despite only have a maiden win, will be an advantage.
4. PATA (KY) 2 year old filly (Birdstone X Sadler’s Wells X Jules) This filly is trained by Uaoz, is another that has covered the distance and surface. Starting her career on dirt this filly broke her maiden first asking and after a 4th place in the Arizona Shootout G3 race they switched to turf. An obvious preference was shown and with the addition of distance this filly became unstoppable. With two allowance wins at a mile on turf posted an 80 speed on the off track last time out and her wins have been easy. Lots to like with this girl.
5. KANLY (IRE) 2 year old filly (Excellent Art X Danzig X Seattle Slew) Trained by Simond5, this filly also comes out of the G3 7 furlong Calvados race. This one however ran better going longer. She finished third and closed but got out closed. I think she will relish in the longer distance and the speed of 83 is the 2nd best in this race. There are some talented milers but I think this girl can step up and run with them. Speed and a desire for distance are key.
6. 6. THE LIBERTINE (KY) 2 year old filly (Giant’s Causeway X Kingmambo X Deputy Minister) This filly is trained by Ritichie, is beautifully bred and dangerous in talent. She holds the best speed of any horse in this race with an 84 speed that she posted finishing 3rd going 7 furlongs in a stakes race. She won that race by a nose and after two second place attempts it looks like the added ground is what did the trick. She has covered 7.5 early on and showed she wanted even more ground I think she will be excellent in this race.
7. TEXAS SKY (IRE) 2 year old filly (Galileo X Storm Cat X Mr. Prospector) Trained by Dixiedotco, this filly is lovely. A stakes winner already and a talented trainer to boot. Her best speed is a 76 her wins came at the 6 furlong distance. With her breeding I would assume she would like longer. However, I hesitate as with the step to 7 furlongs her speed did increase but not a lot. She finished a fading third. The ground might help her get so far in front she can’t be caught but she will need to love the mile to get there. Tough placement but she does have talent and should like the distance.
I don’t pick for baby races because not only are they so exciting but there also very unpredictable. Good luck to everyone.
