Very Miniscule Field
The FORTRESS TWERTON Stakes
Stakes
A mile and five sixteenths
Firm Turf
$40,000
Fillies and mares, 3 years old and up
A few weeks between drinks at Tassie here but we are back albeit with a very small field. In fact the smallest you can probably get with only 4 runners here. Very much a case of anyone can win here and certainly anyone can come second. and third etc…. who do you like?
1 CACKLIN’ KRIS(KY)
Record: 20-7-7-1

Jockey: K Best
Odds: 9/5
Impressive record – has been in the top 3 places 15 out of her 20 outings in her career to date. 7 of those have been wins for this mare out of the famous and successful Kingmambo. Well placed here looked sensational in her last outing on an off track. Unfortunately this is not an off track but still in with a very good chance after performing at a reasonably consistent level at Stakes racing. Likes to come from behind – well suited to the distance. Small field – every chance to take this out – and if she can will be cackling like the old girl that she is all the way to the bank.

Two wins out of her last 3 both at Stakes level and both convincingly. Definitely goes well on the longer distances – loves it – relishes it – takes it in and spits it back out. Distance won’t be a problem in other words. What might be a problem is her consistency or lack of it. Up and down in form, the question will be is this one of her ups or downs. That said she hasn’t been run consistently at the longer distances either so maybe Im jumping to conclusions there. Personally I expect her to go well with the long distance here. As before small field so everyone of these runners has an excellent chance really.
3 BLAZING INFERNO(IRE)
Record: 19-6-3-4
Owner: newarkde
Jockey: J Harzheim
Odds: 5/1
One thing that she has in common with these runners is the distance. But that is where the similarity ends as she is a touch below these others in class. Has performed well most recently 3 runs ago where she won in Allowance level and then again last time out at Stakes level running a 2nd place finish. She just lacks a little in speed though and will need to really run the race of her life to get up here.
4 ALONDRA HAACK(IRE)
Record: 29-11-6-1

Odds: Even
Lots of speed with this one out of Sadler’s Wells with her last race a 106 over 10.5 furlongs however running out fourth place in the end. Can run the distance though and should be and is one of the favourites here with a definite chance of winning. Just needs to time her run well and make sure she finishes with plenty of ooomf across the line!
