Taylor’s Story prevails in the Bluegrass Oaks
Taylor’s Story made the most of three-quarters of a length in Saturday’s Bluegrass Oaks. That was her margin of victory over runnerup second-place finisher Diocese. The G1 win sealed the filly’s place in the sim record books and pushed her earnings to just shy of $1million for trainer Deyoto3.
Taylor’s Story faced an easy trip through the Oaks, settling midpack through the first half under the guidance of jockey B F Abman. She moved into the turn, and matched strides with Diocese through most of the stretch before pulling away. Her final time of 1:48.1 for 9f was three-fifths off the stakes record held by Swift Kick.
Diocese is trained by Riverdance (Lilbitfarm). Union Jack Flyer, campaigned by Poowillck, was third.
The filly is by Distorted Humor out of Carol of the Bells. Bells, a Grade I winner in her own right, also has a 2yo daughter by Street Cry who was third in her debut.
Congratulations to Taylor’s Story and her connections for a superb win.
