RICH UNCLE LOOKS TO GET RICHER
The scenic track at Florida will this week play host to the Pan Americana Handicap Grade III. A grueling Grade III for all horses 4yo and up over Florida’s testing mile and a half turf circuit. A field of just four runners have decided to contest the $150,000 event on a firm track, let’s see who looks the goods on paper.
1 – S R VIOLIN(AUS) – recnrichie – 5/2 – This Australian bred son on Clangalang has won 5 races from his 23 starts and has a real penchant for any race over 11 or 12 furlongs. Has won two of his last eight outings and was placed two starts back in Stakes company over 11 furlongs running an SP# of 105. One slight concern is the booking of jockey L Lamb who doesn’t have the greatest strike rate (4%). This is an open affair and look for this guy to be up near the front and giving them something to chase.
2 – SKY(KY) – fiend – 6/5 – Recent for has been mixed with only one win in his last eight races. That was an impressive Stakes win over 9 furlongs in stakes company producing an SP# of 110. This son of Sky Mesa has been racing over distances a little closer to a mile but may appreciate the step up. Will probably sit 3rd and wait for a crack at them late in proceedings.
3 – BAD MAGIC(WA) – lip – 7/1 – A son of Trail City who has made a meteoric rise to Graded racing. 8 starts back this horse was racing in 5 furlong claiming races. And was still battling away in $4000 claimers six starts back. Did finish 4th of 5 runners in a Grade II over two miles 2 starts back and has been well placed by trainer lip in recent times with this event being no exception. Won over 12 furlongs on a yielding track at his last win which is some sort of form for this. May be tested here.
4 – RICH UNCLE(KY) – pokemyeyeo – 3/2 – a 5yo son of Point Given who looks to be the class runner in this small field. Has not won for sometime but has a string of close finishes all over this distance and all at the highest of levels. The only concern is that he has disappointed at his last 2 outings but both were in much larger fields. Will probably lead this field and try to run them ragged in a true staying test. Looks a big chance here if he can find his old form.
In a very open affair I’m going for 4-2-1
Good luck and Good Punting
