The local race goers will have to get up early for the Dubai Racing Carnival, but will be on sight for their local co-feature, the G3 Saint Paula, lets get to the race!
PP #1 Ninety Five Theses-Johannesburg x Seattle Slew x Defrere, 6-1
She has been a little off form, in her last few. She usually likes to lay in mid pack, she can stalk too. Her last was the Mama Slew Memorial at 7f, she sat in 7th down by 7, then never really made a move, to finish 4th beaten 6. Her last win came back in mid July in the G3 Lean Machine at 6.5f. She stalked the pace in 4th, then she made a move around the turn to stride off and win by 1 ½. I don’t see her moving up to win in this one.
PP #2 Ocean Pacific-Dehere x Seeking The Gold x Storm Cat, 4-1
She’s a pretty consistent filly. She usually takes the lead, but can also stalk. Her last race was the Pregnant Fax Special at 6.5f. She broke out of the gate well and took the lead, and kept on going the whole race winning by 1 ¼. She earned a 97 speed figure. Two back was the G3 Yanta Snez Stakes at 7f, she sat off the lead early in 6th. Then passed a couple horses late, to finish 3rd beaten 3. A nice play here.
PP #3 Desdella-More Than Ready x Cat Thief x War Chant, 3-1
She is a very consistent filly. She usually stalks right off the pace. Last out in the Ratty Saratoga Memorial at 7.5f, she sat right off the pace in 2nd, then made a move coming around the turn, and went on to win by 1 ¾. Two back in the Granny Robe Challenge she sat in mid pack early, then made a move around the turn, and kept coming tow in by 1 ½. A strong co-favorite, the pick.
PP #4 Why Do We Die-More Than Ready x Easy Goer x Elocutionist, 7-1
She is a pretty consistent. She can either take the lead, or stalk right off the pace. Last out at 6.5f in the Thunder City G Special, she sat off the pace, and hung in the stretch to finish 2nd beaten 1 ¾, but this was in a 4 horse field. Three back in the G1 Thxmsslew Handicap at 6f. She sat off the pace by 3. Then flattened out in the stretch, to finish 3rd beaten 1 ¾. She earned a 90 speed figure. She’s a good play for the exotics.
PP #5 Z Freak-Giant’s Causeway x Mt. Livermore x Silver Deputy, 7-1
She’s had 5 races, 3 wins. She is the most inexperienced of the group, but she’s on the upswing. She usually takes the lead. She tried stakes company for the 1st time last out, and ran well. She ran in the Stupid Kingdom Special at 7.5f. She sat right off the lead in 2nd, then made a move around the turn, but got passed late and finished 2nd beaten 1 ¼. Her two before that were allowances, both she won. A nice price play in this one.
PP #6 Inspeightofitall-Speight town x Peintre Celebre x Vice Regent, 6-1
She’s another that’s pretty consistent. She usually likes to takes the lead, but last out in an open allowance at 6.5f, she sat last in a 5 horse field. She made a good late run to finish 2nd, beaten 1 ½. Two back in a nw4x allowance at 6.5f, she took the lead early. Then opened up around the turn, and held on to win by ½, earning a 92 speed figure. Not enough class for this event.
PP #7 Reign In Hades G-E Dubai x Forestry x Seattle Slew, 3-1
In her last few, she has been up and down. She usually likes to stalk the pace. Last out in the Smokey Arena Special at 7.5f on the turf, she sat off the lead in 6th, and never had much of a run, tiring to finish 9th beaten 6 ½. Her last and only dirt try came in mid August, in the Double Blush Bonanza. She sat and 5th early, and hung in the stretch to finish 4th beaten 3 ¾. I don’t know why she’s the co-favorite in this one.
PP #8 Warsaw Witch-Medicean x Danzig x Forty Niner, 18-1
She’s been off in her last two. She can take the lead or stalk. Last out in the G3 King Don Buffet at 6f on the lawn, she sat in 4th early, then got outrun coming around the turn and in the stretch, to finish 10th beaten 10. Her only win came in her Maiden win on the turf. She took the lead early, then opened up around the turn, and held on to win by 1 ½. Too over classed for this one.
This is a interesting race, a lot of up and comers, we’ll see!
