G2, Hoosier Stayer Stakes
This weekend on the card in Kentucky we have the running of the G2, Hoosier Stayer Stakes. The race has drawn an eleven horse field that will travel the distance of 14 furlongs across the firm turf track. The race is restricted to 3 year old and older Fillies and Mares only. Looks like a nice field of runners for this one and the morning line odds and post positions have been released. So let us now take a preview of the eleven horses that will make the start in Kentucky for the running of the G2, Hoosier Stayer Stakes.

Heading out first from the paddock we will see this 5 year old Chestnut Mare (CURLIN x PULPIT x SUMMER SQUALL ) that two starts back would have a nice run at this 14 furlong distance on the dirt and pick up the win in the G2, This Means War Stakes. She would then out in Pennsylvania for her most recent start going 16 furlongs in the G2, The Pittsburgh Stayer. She found a spot in third out of the gate but in her finial stretch run would be pushed back to cross the wire in fourth with a 98 speed rating. We have seen her win at this 14 furlong distance and perhaps the drop back down in distance will show her some favor but can she do it on the turf when she heads over to the turf representing the Orphan Racing residency.

Next, we have this 4 year old Bay Filly (CAMELOT (GB) x MALIBU MOON x SMART STRIKE ) that has been making her most recent starts at much shorter distances. Her most recent hit on the boards would be three starts back when she would get to the wire in third in the G2, The Vegas Swift. In her most recent start in Turkey, she would go 6 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Hunters Choice Turf Mare Sprint. She would never be a factor crossing the wire in tenth with a 96 speed rating. She is making a big jump in distance for this start and needs to come prepared with a good effort when she breaks from her gate representing the East-West Connection residency.

Here we have a 5 year old Brown Mare (CATAPULT x DEEP IMPACT x UNBRIDLED’S SONG ) that has been doing well for the owner in recent starts. Two starts back she would pick up the win in the G3, I Don’t Wanna Stop. She then returned to the track in Japan for her most recent start going 13 furlongs in the G3, Skip to the End Stakes. She would make a late closing effort that would get her into third when she crossed the wire with a 107 speed rating. She is adding a furlong to her two most recent starts when she heads to Kentucky this weekend representing the Midas residency.

Coming out next, we have this 5 year old Bay Mare (EPIPHANEIA (JPN) x SNITZEL x GALILEO (IRE) ) that has had her ups and downs. But she would have one of her up moments two starts back when she would pick up the win in the Rainbow Ruler II Turf Mare Stayer. She would then come back out for her most recent start moving back up in class in Japan going 12 furlongs in the G1, The Spiced Turtle Stakes. She would break from her gate and linger well back throughout this race as she crossed the wire in ninth with a 104 speed rating. She will need to bring some extra in her luggage as she makes her way to Kentucky representing the East-West Connection residency.

Here we have a 5 year old Light Grey Mare (SEA THE STARS x KINGMAMBO x EL PRADO ) that two starts back would hit the jackpot as she picked up the win in the G1, Sabbath Prix. She would then move to Berkshire going 14 furlongs in the G3, The Crazy Train Stakes. Her luck would fail her in this start as she would have a difficult race crossing the wire well off the lead in seventh with a 100 speed rating. She is going to be seeking to find a big rebounding effort this weekend when she heads out of the paddock representing the Universal Racing Club residency.

Next, we have this 6 year old Brown Mare (BRICKS AND MORTAR x GALILEO (IRE) x DYNAFORMER ) that is out of the HOF mare, Magniforma. Three starts back this horse would pick up the win in the G2, Brake Hill Stakes at this 14 furlong distance. Her two most recent starts would not be as kind to her. In her most recent start in New South Wales she would take to the wet turf going 13 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Khianti Turf Mare Stayer. She would run well back throughout this race and would cross the wire in ninth with a 99 speed rating. She gets back on the firm turf this weekend and perhaps that will re-spark her interest when she heads over to the turf representing the Empire State Racing residency.

This is a 5 year old Bay Mare (PERSIAN KING (IRE) x TANINO GIMLET x SADLER’S WELLS ) that has been running well for the owner in her most recent starts. Three races back she was third in the G1, Sabbath Prix and then would pick up the win in the G2, The Forever Young Stayer. She would then make her most recent start in Italy going 16 furlongs in the G1, Trastevere Stamina Cup. She would cross the wire eleven lengths back, but it was good enough for a third place finish with a 101 speed rating. She makes the drop back down in distance from her two most recent starts, but we know she can do well when on her game at 14 furlongs. She will be heading out of the paddock this weekend to represent the Latinos Del Muindo residency.

Headed out next, we have this 5 year old Bay Mare (BAAEED x MONSUN x NUREYEV ) that has made some good starts at the Allowance and Listed Stakes level but moving up into the graded class she has found some difficulty in the past. In her most recent start, she would be seen in Ohio going 16 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Chop Never Stops Turf Mare Challenge. She would find more difficulty throughout this race and would cross the wire well back in fourth with a 98 speed rating. She will need to find a much better performance this weekend than her two most recent races when she heads over to her gate as the longest choice in the morning line representing the Universal Racing Club residency.

Next, we will see this 4 year old Chestnut Filly (SIYOUNI x AUSTRALIA x SPEIGHTSTOWN ) that three starts back would pick up her first stakes win in the Kilconquhar Turf Filly Special. She would then go off the boards in her next Listed Stakes start before making her way over to Maryland for her most recent start. She would travel 12 furlongs in another Listed Stakes, Spaceship Earth Turf Mare Endurance. She would get the early lead out of the gate but in the final stretch she would be run down and cross the wire in third with a 107 speed rating. This little rabbit will need to bring her speed with her and perhaps a little extra as she takes on this field representing the Empire State Racing residency.

This is 5 year old Chestnut Mare (LONHRO x NIGHT OF THUNDER x POUR MOI (IRE) ) that has been running well for the owner. Two starts back she picked up the win in an Allowance race and then for her most recent start she would move back up in class. She would make her most recent start in California going 14 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Lil Pot Turf Mare Memorial. She was in fourth and over 10 lengths off the lead. When she hit the top of the stretch, she would find some extra effort after a couple of taps and start picking off horses to get to the front and win by two and a half with a 105 speed rating. She likes the distance and needs to show up with another nice closing effort when she heads over to her gate representing the Elite Racing Club residency.

Breaking from the final gate in this race we have this 6 year old Light Grey Mare (WAR FRONT x STREET CRY x EL PRADO ) that has been on a hot streak with four wins in a row. In her most recent start, she would be seen in Colorado going 16 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, The Big Ask Turf Mare Stayer. She was in third and five off the lead at the third call. When she hit the top of the stretch she would explode on this small field of five starters and get up for the win by nine lengths with a 102 speed rating. She needs to bring another big effort with her this weekend and have a good stretch run when she breaks form her gate representing the East-West Connection residency.
