G2 KeggerDay Fillies Juvenile Mile

#1 Tactical Escape (MIDAS) 22/1 : By Run Away and Hide, a seldom-used sire with just 3 runners this year, 2 of which have found the winner’s circle. This filly broke through in May with an allowance win after competing in hot races earlier in the season. Took a big swing last out in the Storm Goddess Dirt Juvenile Fillies and outran her 14-1 odds with a strong late run to grab 3rd. Has she found her groove at the right time?

#2 Twirling Magic (Orphan Racing) 9/1 : By Good Magic, who has produced 33 winners from 112 runners this year, including one graded stakes champion. Faced the boys in her debut and held her own with a runner-up finish, then handled business next out with a 2 ¾ length score against fillies in allowance company. Makes a bold leap straight into graded stakes action, is she ready for the class hike?

#3 Nothing Is Fine (Orphan Racing) 8/1 : By Quality Road, who has produced 39 winners from 134 runners this year. This filly flashed talent right from the start, cruising to a 4-length debut win. Since then, she’s tackled stakes company and is coming off a 4th-place finish in the G2 Hoserhead Juvenile Fillies. She’s yet to crack that top tier of juveniles, but this will be her first try going a route. Will the added distance unlock another gear?

#4 Guarded Kingdom (Empire State Racing) 7/1 : By elite sire Gun Runner, who has produced 116 winners from 258 runners this year, including 8 stakes winners, 3 of those at the graded level. Won her debut by a head, then jumped straight into the deep end with a strong 2nd in the G2 Vermont BB Juvenile Filly. Tried the G2 Lean Machine Stakes in July but faded late to finish a disappointing 5th. Would’ve liked a sharper result heading into this one, is she trending the wrong way, or ready to bounce back?

#5 The Shot Caller (Orphan Racing) 7/1 : By elite sire Gun Runner, who has produced 116 winners from 258 runners this year, including 8 stakes winners, 3 of those at the graded level. It took her two tries to break her maiden, but she made a big leap in that second start with a 4 ½ length win and a major boost in her speed figure. Tried the boys next in the NY Young Gentleman Stakes and finished a well-beaten 8th. She might appreciate getting back with the girls here, will that make the difference?

#6 Moonlight D (Z Tastic) 7/1 : By Authentic, who has produced 13 winners from 54 runners this year. Owns the highest speed figure in the field, earned while breaking her maiden by 7 ¼ lengths back in July. Backed it up with another strong number and a runner-up finish against NW2L. The big question now is whether those figures hold up with the jump to graded company. If they do, she’s a major threat.

#7 Some Saucy Lady (No Residency) 6/1 : By Curlin, who has produced 101 winners from 204 runners this year, including 1 stakes winner. This filly impressed early, cruising home by 4 ½ lengths in an April allowance. Took on tougher company in the G2 Stoker Handicap last out and came with a run, but simply ran out of ground late to finish third. The added distance here should be right up her alley. She is the morning line favorite, is she ready to take the next step?

#8 Zoey’s Reign (Hoosier Racing) 9/1 : By Constitution, who has produced 45 winners from 127 runners this year, including 2 stakes winners. Undefeated in 3 starts, including a dominant 4 ¾ length win in an April allowance. Followed that up with a strong showing in the Rich Bag Dirt Juvenile Fillies, keeping her perfect record intact. Faces graded company for the first time, is this the next step in a rising star’s story?

#9 Barboxbow (Empire State Racing) 12/1 : By Oxbow, who has produced 4 winners from 16 runners this year. This filly hasn’t been shy about heading to the starting gate, this will be her 9th start of the season. She’s coming off a solid allowance win going 7.5 furlongs, getting up by a length. Her speed figures have been steady, but not quite at the level of the top contenders here. With this much mileage on the year, does she have one more gear to unlock in this graded test?

#10 Cries of Rage (Orphan Racing) 6/1 : By Curlin, who has produced 101 winners from 204 runners this year, including 1 stakes winner. Lightly raced with just two starts this season, she opened her career in style by beating the boys with a sharp debut win by 1 ½ lengths. Her speed figure dipped a bit in her second start, but she still managed a runner-up finish. She’s the morning line favorite, and if she can bounce that number back up, she’ll be tough to beat.

#11 Charged Aussie (Universal Racing Club) 19/1 : By elite sire Into Mischief, who has produced 153 winners from 340 runners this year, including 10 stakes winners, 2 at the graded level. This filly looked promising with a debut win back in February, but hasn’t quite lived up to the hype since. She’s coming off a flat 8th-place finish in a 7-furlong allowance, which doesn’t exactly inspire confidence heading into her first graded stakes try. Can she rebound and prove she belongs?

#12 Stella Cardo (MIDAS) 7/1 : By turf sire Wootton Bassett, who has produced 99 winners from 222 runners this year, including 8 stakes winners, one at the graded level. This colt is ranked #1 in my “Field In Numbers” ratings and has taken off since switching to dirt after an initial turf try. He rattled off three straight wins on the new surface and most recently finished second in the G2 Stoker Handicap. Proven against graded company and still trending in the right direction, can he take the next step here?
