Florida Racing Club – Tequesta/Sabal Palm Review
The Florida Racing Club race review for Derby weekend! We had a great turnout for both of our Florida Sire stakes races this weekend.
Our annual Tequesta Stakes had fifteen runners and four previous stakes winners. Six of the fifteen entries were able to finish with a 91+ speed number.
KING ALWAYS HAVE (out of alw winner GEMS OF ATTRITION) in the 5PP was able to secure his first stakes win after a shocking run schedule. Coming into the race with seventeen races, there are several recent races with around 12 days rest and has been running on very short rest since being picked up as a 12.5k claimer back in July 2024! Congrats to the stuger/stuger49 stable on the shocking win! Hopefully his schedule will allow him to be able to attend the Apalachee Stakes.
ROADIMBO (out of mare JUMBO’S BIMBO) was able to charge into second place from the 1PP. Previously won back to back the FRC Breeder Juvenile ALW and FRC New Years Stakes 2025. Starting as a claimer after a couple of changes of address has most recently had a 100 speed number in a G3! Congrats to lourival/orrrrdago on the fine horse!
FLAMEGUNNER a lightly raced horse out of stakes winner FLAGRANTE DELICTO, he generally sets the pace but was only able to stalk in this race. Exclusively running in local FL races this horse looks like it has a bright future. Congrats to tees/tees2yosale on the strong run in this race!
The first running of the Sabal Palm Stakes had fourteen runners and two previous stakes winners. Six of the fourteen entries were able to attain a 90+ speed number.
DOWNED SPIRIT (out of stakes winner PISHACHA) is our winner from the 9PP. Debuting with a win in the DUR local bred series and not too long after was able to win the local 2yo Junior Rule Stakes. Her last 2yo race was back in November and she stayed on break until this race in May. Congrats to yhold13 stable! There is strong turf bloodlines in this filly and it would be interesting to see how she performs on the other surface. Hopefully we will see her in the Apalachee Stakes.
CERTIFIED SONG had a strong kick to come from far back to finish second out of 1PP. She has run exclusively in FL local races and has shown great strength in the mud. Congrats to vkstables/wpooh888 stables and the great future they have with this filly.
UNFINISHED POEM is another exclusive FL local race runner was able to power through the flailing field to get to third from the 11PP. Congrats to FRC residency member bobthehat/nabokov2 on the third place finish!

The Florida Racing Club residency is trying to bring more FL local races to the sim! The vast majority of our races are open to the sim. If you like this… please consider supporting with a stable so we can bring more of these type of races to the schedule! Thanks to our current members – your support has made these races possible!
