This is a supercharged two year old stakes race in Dubai. It is going to be hard fought for sure with so many contenders despite the smallish field. This race has its share of runners coming off wins, and most have run within the same speed range. Olympic Deal deserves special attention here. He is exceptional pedigree, and is coming off such a dominant performance. Other notes of interest include Redoustina who may be a long shot, but she is a real nice filly. It is always nice to see a filly try and best the boys. Afrika Korps is an interesting pedigree that has done quite well, and Seeking Discretion is full of regal blood. The race is sure to be a competitive race. Now for a look at the field of runners:

MAMBO BAND has plenty of experience for a two year old, and has improved nicely. The Kingmambo x Dixieland x Cryptoclearance colt can win this race, but I suspect he will be out dueled here in Dubai this time.

AFRIKA KORPS has just two starts, but both of those were wins. He is Storm Cat x Alleged x Mr. Prospector and may be able to make it three in a row. He is coming off a speed figure of 83, so he has the speed potential to get it done.        

SEEKING DISCRETION has finished ITM in six of his seven starts while earning over 100k. He is coming off two consecutive wins, with the last being a stakes win in which he ran a 86 speed factor. His pedigree is Discreet Cat x Seeking the Gold x A.P. Indy. He is 9/2 but maybe he should be favored here. He certainly has beautiful pedigree.

HOPE AND DESPAIR has made four starts and finished ITM in three of those starts. Here is another coming off an 86 speed figure win. With so many horses in this race coming off wins, it is hard to predict what we will see. Hope and Despair who is Successful Appeal x Belong to Me x Peintre Celebre can, and may win this race. He will need to make the jump to stakes successful.

OLYMPIC DEAL is coming off a monster allowance win in which he ran a insurmountable 88 speed figure over a mile. It’s a jump to stakes, and then into the winner’s circle for this Red Ransom x Kingmambo x Seattle Slew colt if everything goes to plan. He certainly gets my money. I absolutely love the pedigree here, and I expect he makes the transition to stakes look as smooth as butter.

THE SHORTEST STRAW has struggled in his last two races, but before that he one the King Guapo Memorial Stakes with a whopping 86 speed figure. I like that he won that race, but his struggles lately are a real concern. This Pure Prize x Unbridled’s Song x General Assembly colt is going to have to rebound, or he just may end up with the shortest straw here in Dubai.

REDOUSTINA already has an impressive earnings total tallying over 100k, but she may have her work cut out for her this time against the boys. She is coming off a win in the Car City Stakes Bonanza. Her Redoute’s Choice x Crafty Prospector x Storm Cat pedigree is nice. You can never underestimates a two year old runner coming off a stakes win. She could surprise me.
