Storm Troubled Qld With Only Four Runners
Welcome back to Queensland after another horrendous week of storms for the State. All the best to those who are still cleaning up after the carnage of the last few weeks there.
Today we have the Geronimo’s Hoss Stakes for fillies and mares 3yo and up. Only 4 runners today for the purse of $55,000 on what has been rated surprisingly as a firm turf track considering all the storms of late! Not many to take you through here but let’s have a look anyway.
1 COYOTE PIPER(KY)
Owner: buffy5
Record: 14-5-1-1
Earnings: $233,269
Jockey: M Cameron
Odds: 7/1
A 3yo gurl out of Mineshaft x Dixieland Band x Sadler’s Wells has been running somewhat consistenly over its last 10 races or more. Having had a successful campaign earlier in the year in Allowance company on turf has run exclusively since then at Stakes level and today is no different. Posting speeds around the low 90’s has won two of last 4 outings. That was the Florida Bay Bonanza over 10 furlongs in September and the Sandy Bat Bonanza over 11 furlongs earlier in July. Distance no problem here and should rate well. Good bet at 7/1 odds on the tote.
2 BEATBOXER
Owner: bombfly
Record: 26-8-5-6
Earnings: $277,275
Jockey: C Wyatt
Odds: Even
One of the favourites here – well there are only 4 horses in the race so they are all going to be fairly close considering their talent. This one is out of the mighty Seeking The Gold x Danehill x Ela-Mana-Mou(IRE). Looks good as has been posting speeds in excess of 100 off and on with her latest win coming back in May over 10 furlongs in the Forty Six Groom Special Stakes. Have to take note though of her run in August in the G1 Yolkshire Oaks again over 10 furlongs where she finished third across the line. That was a good run. Obviously with Wyatt on board she looks pretty good to take this out today.
3 SADLER’S SWING(IRE)
Owner: camotion
Record: 24-8-3-3
Earnings: $208,955
Jockey: S DeBerg
Odds: 7/5
From Swain(IRE) x Sadler’s Wells x Rhythm is in the swing of running here coming off a second place finish which was after a string of 3 consecutive wins all at Allowance level. Two very good speeds of 105 and 103 over 11 and 12 furlongs. This one can run folks. Hasn’t got the record at Stakes level though and in fact couldnt really put it together at this level earlier in the year. Has another chance now and could really challenge here. Should be there at the end.
4 HIGHLY IMPROBABLE(IRE)
Owner: justeng
Record: 33-9-6-5
Earnings: $159,817
Jockey: P Kays
Odds: 4/1
A 5yo who has done some racing with 33 runs under her belt, was bred from Not Impossible(IRE) x Little Current x Reviewer. Looks out of form to me with her best run a second place finish at Allowance level in her last 5 runs or so. Last win was back in May at Allowance level so it’s been a while since she was on the podium. Judging by her name, I’d say its improbable but not impossible that she will take this out today.
And there we go folks only the four runners. I won’t pick the top 3 today as that is just like a lottery really with only the 4 runners. I will put out a winner though and I think that wil be 2 BEATBOXER who with Wyatt on board and her last few runs looks pretty good to me.
