Blazing Saddles Breeder’s Showdown Juvenile Turf
Blazing Saddles Breeder’s Showdown Juvenile Turf
Welcome to the first annual Blazing Saddles Breeder’s Showdown residency event. The Blazing Saddles Breeder’s Showdown is a residency event featuring the best we have to offer and I’d like to send a special thanks to Stylez for making some wicked banners. The WILD WILD WEST is BACK!
I am reviewing the BS Juvenile Turf which looks to be a very competitive race. Lets take a look at the entrants.
PP#1 – Angevin King – Cagy veteran Galileo presents us with Angevin King a royal son of Montjeu who has two wins and never has finished out of the money in 5 career starts. His last effort was a super fast 89 in a winning allowance effort. This horse likes to run a stalking type style and definitely and is a proven commodity over 8 furlongs. The bookmakers agree as they have made him a morning line 4-1 pick.
PP#2 – The Coolmoore Kid – Yours truly bring you The Coolmoore Kid another son of Montjeu, the stallion who is the pride of Coolmoore. The Coolmoore Kid is lightly raced with only 3 lifetime races and will have his work cut out for him in a field of more accomplished horses. He employs a very similar running style as Angevin King and they might be making a move at about the same point in the race. TCK has never attempted a race longer than 7 furlongs but should not have a problem with the distance.
PP#3 – Skunkbridled Song – The Skunker presents Skunkbridled Song for your viewing pleasure. Skunkbridled Song shows The Skunker is a gambler at heart as this fine animal is 6-2-1-2 on the dirt and would have likely been the favorite in the BS Juvenile Dirt but instead finds himself trying turf for the first time. His last race out was a wire to wire win in the I Wish I Was A Skunk Stakes prep for the BS Juvenile where he posted a fine 88 speed figure. It will be fun to see how this gamble pays off but with the Miswaki in the DDS spot it very well could pan out. Bookmakers sure think so as jockey Rob Zombie rides the 3-1 favorite.
PP#4 – The Accusation – Meguire’s The Accusation is a perfect 1-1 winning his only race thus far on the grass with a 73 speed figure. By Ad Valorem (son of
PP#5 – Choosing Power – Kloie girl presents Choosing Power (by Sadler’s son Powerscourt) who is 4-1-2-1 all on the grass. Choosing Power has a solid turf miler to ten furlong pedigree and looks to be one of the late movers in today’s race. Big question is how much ground will he be trying to make up on the horses who get first jump? You tri players must respect this entry and odds makers are giving a lot of respect at 6-1.
PP#6 – Giant Andronicus – This son of Marcus Andronicus trained by Stylez has been getting faster of late but has yet to return to the winner’s circle after a maiden score back in June. He ran a solid third posting an 82 in the 8.5 furlong Brother Vaccuum Special but then bounced a bit last out. If we get a rebound off of last race’s effort he could outrun his 10-1 odds.
PP#7 – Quad Deuces – Blazing Saddles has many poker lovers as you can tell if you look at the name of our horses. Pilgrim is one of the chief rounders among us and moves all in with this son of Tiger Hill. Quad Deuces has had a rough time of it since moving up in company back in June but if allowed to run uncontested on the front end he might be hard to see to showdown.
PP#8 – Iron Channel – Alishan may have been watching Iron Man when he bred this son of
PP#9 – Dillingers Pistol – Stand up pal Otistaylor brings us this Dylan Thomas X Lemon Drop Kid X Pleasant Colony super stamina breed. Dylan Thomas has been lighting up the SIM as a freshman sire and this one may continue to pave those streets of gold. Dillingers Pistol has the feel of being the most talented of this bunch with a smashing maiden debut and a solid 2nd in an open stakes in just two lifetime races. If he continues to progress off of those efforts you would be hard pressed to need to look elsewhere.
PP#10 – Bosmartzom – Boble’s entry Bosmartzom (by Smarty Jones) has drawn the outside post in today’s affair. Paying homage to Basketball Jones this entry shares a similar breeding feel and hopes to duplicate those results. After two so so dirt starts Bosmartzom took to the turf last time out and won wire to wire. Should provide enough early pressure on Quad Deuces to give the leaders a fighting chance and whichever one of them get to the lead could easily hold on for a major share.
Outlook – It would be inappropriate for me to make too much of a prediction in this race so all I can say is enjoy our res week Blazing Saddles and may the best horse win.
