The Creepy Prospector Special
2 year old fillies tackle the mile distance on the dirt this week at Tennessee in the 4th running of the CREEPY PROSPECTOR (FR) Special. The stakes record, set in 2005, belongs to SILENT RUSH (Cat Thief x Forty Niner x Damascus) who covered the mile distance in 1:36 1/5. A competitive field of ten runners have been entered for the running of this year’s race.
PP1) HEARTSWIDEOPEN (LA) – (War Eagle x Tsunami Slew x Herat) – 10/1 Richgins Stables
Making her 3rd dirt mile appearance in a row today this filly looks as if she will be quite competitive in route dirt races in the future and in today’s race. Last time out, in the ALICENWONDERLAND Bonanza, she closed hard from C2 on to catch all but one of the other race entrants finishing 2nd only ½ back of the winner with a final SP# of 85. The rail post might really help her chances today.
PP2) HAILO (KY) – (Half Ours x Deputy Minister x Personal Flag) – 8/1 Kingman Racing Syndicate
Finishing in the WPS spot in her first four races this filly, based on the Stakes Placed horse Jesse Jackson, has shown steadily increasing SP#’s with added distance. Her last time out, in an ANW3L race at BC, she sat close to the pace then took command of the race before the stretch drive to win by 1 ½ lengths with a final SP# of 88 at today’s race distance. Her chance to continue her WPS streak looks solid to me today.
PP3) HURRICANE AMY (KY) – (Langfuhr x Quiet American x Storm Cat) – 4/1 Windham Hill T-breds
Already an earner of over $140,000 in her short racing career this filly is also a graded stakes winner, G3 Sabrina Stakes, the only entrant in the field with that distinction. Her last two stakes starts have been at the mile dirt distance after earning her G3 win at 6 furlongs on the dirt. Last time out she set the pace in the ALICENWONDERLAND Bonanza and was caught in the stretch finishing 4 ¾ lengths back of the winner in 7th.
PP4) RAPID RUN (KY) – (Elusive Quality x Halo x Storm Cat) – 7/2 Tees Stables
Making her first stakes start today her at Tennessee this filly broke her maiden last time out at LA while posting an 88 SP# at 8 furlongs while coming out of post 12. In that MSW36,400 race she led every step up the way winning by ¾ length and setting a new lifetime SP best. She draws a better inside post compared to her first four previous races today and is a deserving ML favorite.
PP5) CHOKECHERRY (KY) – (Teuflesberg x Buckaroo x Bold Reason) – 6/1 Elenalag Stables
After breaking her maiden in wk 3644 by 3 lengths this filly has finished 2nd twice in allowance races while posting a lifetime SP best of 87 at the 8 furlong dirt distance last time out. This filly is also the only runner in today’s race who has run at the 8F distance three times before today and she has steadily improved her final SP#’s while doing this. A repeat of that trend again today might find her in the winner’s circle.
PP6) SISSON’S ZAP (KY) – (Ghostzapper x Gone West x Mixtli) – 8/1 Binzaman Stables
The first of two runners entered in today’s race by owner Binzaman Stables this filly, out of the mare Sisson’s Gonesky, has 2 lifetime wins out of 7 starts in 2008. Her last race at EK, an A56500 race, saw a change in race tactics for the filly as she sat back in the field finishing 6th while being unable to make up ground on the other runners which was a reversal of her usual front running style ways. Already a winner at 8F on the dirt I look for her to return to her front running style strategy today.
PP7) SIX OASIS (ENG) – (Oasis Dream (GB) x Kingmambo x Northern Jove) – 5/1 Given Stables
An earner of just under the $100,000 mark this filly has already established her credentials as a fine turf runner as she sets 21st in the 2yo F/M Route Divisional rankings here on the SIM. She has 3 wins out of 5 races on the turf including a stakes win in the Six Shooter Special at NJ at 8 furlongs. She has raced once on the dirt, a 2nd place finish at 6F in an ANW2L race, and is a real threat today and capable of winning it all if she converts her talent over to the dirt.
PP8) LAUGH TIME (FL) – (Don’t Look N Laugh x Gilded Time x Forty Niner) – 37/1 Espnstable Stables
This filly is making her second stakes start today at the 8F distance and her connections must be hoping for a better showing today from this runner out of Sudden Time than the first time out. In that race, the Raspberry Phar Challenge at CN, she never found her footing in the race and trailed the pack throughout to finish 7th. She showed improvement her last race at 6.5F to set a new lifetime best SP# of 68.
PP9) HOMEFORTHEHOLIDAYS (JPN) – (Came Home x A.P. Indy x Black Tie Affair (IRE)) – 6/1 Topicount Stables
An allowance winner her last time out at 8F at OT this filly posted a new lifetime best SP# of 87 in that race. She has faced tough graded competition already in her short racing career running in the G2 Vermont BB Juvenile Filly (4th) and the G3 Lean Machine Stakes (7th). Both of her two lifetime victories have come on the lead and she will be a threat even from Post 9 if she can secure a decent running position close to the front at the beginning of the race.
PP10) SISSON’S BRIDLE (KY) – (Unbridled’s Song x Cat Thief x Capote) – 11/1 Binzaman Stables
Our far outside post brings us the second Binzaman Stables entrant in today’s race who has one lifetime victory to her credit and earnings over $47,000. Her last time out, at 7.5F in the Wretched Charger Special, she finished 2nd by a head while closing well to set a new lifetime best SP# of 79. Her form shows her with the capability of being competitive from far back in the middle stages of a race and I think she has the best chance for her owners of getting a share of the today’s purse out of their two race entrants.
