2024 Breeders Bowl F&M Sprint 3yr+

Friday, November 1, 2024 — 2:00:00 PM EST | Race ID : 3231104

Breeders’ Bowl F and M Sprint
Grade I / Group 1*CPU – Purse : $750,000
Restricted to 3 Year Olds and Older, Fillies and Mares Only
7 Furlongs | ~1400 Meters | Seven Eighths of a Mile                                                                            Track:  Fast Dirt

1REAL CHINA WHITEKY3Fasrstar22A Rolling           ODDS: 39/1

MEDAGLIA D’ORO x A.P. INDY x UNBRIDLED

#4 ranked 3yr old filly has continued to get a better SPD each time out aswell progressing to the GR 1 this year and 4 solid starts at this distance after testing longer in her debut for this season.  Drawing the rail for the first time in her career should benefit as she likes to be just off the pace and rally.  Baffling that the odds makers have made her such higher odds than #5 La Chimichanga as these two battled it out last time and was only beaten by ¼ length.   A great stepping stone to what should be a solid and productive 4yr old campaign aswell as end to a good 3yr old season.

2COSMIC RIPPLEKY4FepicF Oxon                  ODDS: 10/1

WAR FRONT x A.P. INDY x ALYDAR

#10 ranked 4yr old filly that had a very short 3 yr old season with only 3 starts has seen the workload increase immensely with this being her 7th start of the season.  Shortening up from 7.5 F will benefit as she likes to be a frontrunner and will avenge the lost from fav in here #7 Gold Humor who sat in the weeds and waited to pounce so their could be another head to head dual here.  Faced three others in here and have beaten them be it at 6F, but still can’t be overlooked as she is also 8/8 in top three finishes in career sprints.

3TAP YOUR BABEKY3FfdllodgehJ Dawg   ODDS: 25/1

TAPIT x MORE THAN READY x STREET CRY

#7 ranked 3 yr old filly that rattled off 5 straight wins last season that was capped off with a BB appearance in the Juv filly (7th).  She has only seen the winners circle once this season (back in Apr) be it a GR 1.   Jock  J.Dawg comes back after a 1 race absence and this along with a favorable PP should be a factor.  SPD figs have been on the uprise this season after each race (- the off track start) so indications are pointing to a solid outing here and dismiss those 25/1 odds.

4MISS CURLY WURLYKY4Fasrstar16Z Kentucky   ODDS: 9/1

CURLIN x STORM CAT x FORTY NINER

#16 ranked 4 yr old filly has yet to win a GR 1 race although close in a 6.5F earlier this year.  Will be trailing the field looking for quick fractions to come in and steal this one, also has done well from this PP.  The big question will be if she has her A game to finally over take #7 Gold Humor which has beaten her twice while helping set the pace and holding it down.  Either way has been a good season that saw her jump from GR 2 to GR 1 races and is currently running in her 5th GR 1 in a row.

5LA CHIMICHANGAKY3FotticoO A Haack   ODDS: 27/1

TAPIT x CANDY RIDE x A.P. INDY

#5 ranked 3 yr old filly that has already exceeded what mom (LA CHIMICHURRI) has done!  Comes in here after a 2nd in a prep ALW for this one, but before that had 6 straight wins including a GR 2 and the GR 1 Exam beating #1 Real China White at the wire.  So again high odds but, that doesn’t discourage me here I’ll gladly take the payday.  This is her distance no doubt about it so should see a good showing and if a disappointment well?  There’s always next year when she’ll be stronger and a even bigger threat.

6Z’HA’DUMKY4FbrooklineA Jolly   ODDS: 10/1

MORE THAN READY x SMART STRIKE x SUMMER SQUALL

#4 ranked 4 yr old filly that has turned her career around since the last time I wrote about her (2023 Bluegrass Oaks).  Since the Blue Oaks she tried longer and owner Brookline realized a new game plan was in order.  Hence she started to tackle 7F where she went 4 wins in 5 starts with some Graded in there and tried going shorter (6.5) but I think the handlers are seeing this is really the place here at 7F.  A big factor is whether jock A. Jolly can read the field right this time after a disastrous 8th last time he had the mount.

7GOLD HUMORKY5Fcrawf68A Craig   ODDS: 5/1

DISTORTED HUMOR x SEEKING THE GOLD x A.P. INDY

#2 ranked 5 yr old Mare that looks to dominate again some that she’s faced in here before.  2 wins & 3 plc in 6 starts this season in all Grade 1 but one which was a GR 2.  She is the horse with most career starts in this one and hoping father time can hold off a bit longer or will this be her swan song race regardless of result?   Will be waiting patiently for horses up front to make a mistake or just have a great trip is all new in the reins jock A. Craig will be looking for.  Has had more success at 7.5 F and  that could play more into strategy aswell.

8BOURBON SUPERNOVAKY3FpatriotnationD Givins   ODDS: 22/1

GHOSTZAPPER x BERNARDINI x TALE OF THE CAT

#6 ranked 3 yr old filly in her first 7F race.  Has been a nice surprise out of mare  ONYX TREASURE that was a solid miler on the turf, so to produce better and more on the dirt has got to have owner Francua beaming.  Stamina should not be a problem for this pacesetter as we could see wire to wire strategy?  Improving SPDs each time out and peaking at the right time will only make her a threat in the coming year regardless of this result.

9BITCOIN GIRLKY4FborinquenJ Benisz   ODDS: 8/1

MCKINZIE x GONE WEST x NORTHERN DANCER

#14 ranked 4 yr old filly that has put Mc Kinzie on the map!  Also covered her last in the Bluegrass Oaks where I mentioned little known sire McKinzie and from there this one is now her sire’s top horse in the rankings. Again like Z’Ha’Dum this one which had a 20th result in Blue Oaks had to be reformed and started 2024 with a bang winning 3 straight again like her 2yr old campaign and owner Borinquen is hoping sticking with jock J.Benisz will give him the result they want.  A key point is those 3 straight this year were at a 6.5F distance so we could see a mid pack move here to help with the stalking style?

10THEY GOT MY SOULKY3Fslowrollelite0V Gardner    ODDS: 21/1

TAPIT x BROAD BRUSH x DEPUTY MINISTER

#3 ranked 3 yr old filly first timer at 7F.  Has 4 wins out of 5 starts in sprints and stamina to boot after winning last time out at 7.5F while just off the pace catching and beating Bourbon Supernova (who is in here).  The heat should not bother this one as she just came in from AZ and beat others that are in here although primarily running on the east coast.  Will be hard to ignore this one despite those odds as she has been in the top 3   8 of her 9 career starts.

11THE CAMBOKY5Fmasterm03K Ledwith   ODDS: 5/1

SPEIGHTSTOWN x AWESOME AGAIN x UNBRIDLED’S SONG

#3 ranked 5 yr old Mare that started the season with a big STK win.  However stumbled badly next time out (9th) in a GR 2 so slowly building her confidence going GR 3 -2 – 1 has paid off as she has b2b 7F wins (G2/GR1).  I think this one has more in the tank then other 5/1 fav Gold Humor and the public will make her the clear fav by post time.  The key factor for her will be pace,  can’t see PP being a problem cause she ran at this position from a bad start last time out and recovered for the victory.

12SIXTY SIXTH SENSEKY5Fpadrebri16F Gossett   ODDS: 10/1

STREET SENSE x STORM CAT x MR. PROSPECTOR

#6 ranked 5 yr old Mare with career 9 wins(most in this race).  This late bloomer to Graded races (started this season) started solid with a couple of 3rd and couple of 1st.  She has taken a step back her last two (6th/13th) which could be alarming but Owner/Trainer Padrebri has assured us he’s not concerned and pointed “such is life in the high stakes of GR 1 racing!”  Must point out this horse is unlike many Padrebri horses,  as I see only one 2nd place finishes lifetime here.  Gotta be doing something right! BRI

13JACK’S FRENZYKY4FfightclubE Cerda   ODDS: 6/1

WAR FRONT x SEATTLE SLEW x MR. PROSPECTOR

#1 ranked 4 yr old filly and what would a Graded race be without at least 1 Lenny horse?  Shhhh don’t answer that (I know people).  Will/Should be looking for mid SPD fractions to keep on pace and pounce on the leaders late.  Has shown that the outside PP is not a hinderance as she has 3 ITM results to show for it.  Only factor I could see being a problem is this is not her regular distance and tiring could be an issue since also this will be her 8 start of the season be it she has 2 months recovery for this one.

14SPEIGHTFUL GALKY5Fddstables32T Small   ODDS: 5/1

SPEIGHTSTOWN x UNBRIDLED’S SONG x A.P. INDY

#5 ranked 5 yr old Mare and tied for most career wins in this race (9).  In theme the 5 yr old ladies are all fav odds(5/1) which I guess shows experience gains odds?  Alas here it is ladies and gentleman the Past winner of this race a year ago looking to defend her crown.  She has had a tough 5 yr old campaign by her standards starting with a 9th finish, 3rd, then a win in GR 2 Best fight  and recently a  6th vs others that are in here that really took it her.  Hopefully the break and learnt lessons will be enough for jock T.Small that retains the mount.  The PP should not be a factor here either as she loves to come from behind, the only tell will be if respond when asked.

The odds makers were not kind this year to the 3 yr olds thus clouding judgement and trying to sway bettors away from reaping in the big payday.

But as they say here in the sim the odds are only a number when It comes to the Graded Races so best of luck to all.

Thanks so much for doing the write up. I’ve got my fingers crossed for my filly but it’s a tough field.

Great story regardless of circumstances. Even better considering the late notice. The Rabbit is my nominee for Derby Fever Hero of the Month!

Didn’t hear about the late notice, but that makes the article even better..

Anyway, I’m thinking chalk here… Gonna go with The Cambo.
