A B C D – Alphabet Challenge Today

Well Im late but I am back at the Queensland track and a good race too – hey I picked the winner and my second placing came third so Im pretty happy all up. Good race although at the end there were really only two who were going to be able to win as the rest of the field trailed by 5 lengths and more.  Exciting race though as we have found some new 2yo possible champions here today.

First

Yes the winner was COUNTJEU(SAF) who led for much of the race and won it reasonably easily in the end after not really being seriously challenged towards the latter part of the race.  Speed of 89 was his best performance to date and an impressive performance too winning by a length over the 6 1/2 furlongs race.  That was his third win and his second Stakes win in his short racing career so far.  Looks good with that speed and is probably ready to move up to G3 now with this continued success at this level. Trained by safrace5 and with earnings now over $119,000 this one is looking the goods.  Watch on his next race out and see how well he does.  Fantastic win in the end.

Second

BELEQWAYA(IRE). Thats right he was in second place across the line.  I didnt give him a whole lot of chance of performing but I was very wrong. Coming off two wins over 6 furlongs, he will probably like extra distance again as he was still closing when crossing the finish line.  Big jump in speed for him up to 87. Trained by irishman2, that takes his career earnings to over $68,000.  Coming from towards the rear of the field, he finished fast at the end cruising past third place and wanting that extra distance to challenge for first.  Good run and a good race.  Id be keen to see him run some extra mileage next time out.

Third

DIGGINDAMAMBO(FL) was third across the line also coming from the rear of the field but some 5 1/2 lengths off the winner across the line.  Trained by vipersix and a speed of 79 which equalled his previous best run last time out. Also looking like he would like extra distance in my opinion. His previous race was over 7 1/2 lengths but at G3 level so may prefer extra distance at this level instead. I dont know – hard to tell sometimes with the 2yo’s as you sort out what he prefers.  Regardless was a good run at the Qld track here taking his earnings up over $70k.

Other Rans

VOLLEYSHOT(JPN) and CHILL OF A DOLLAR(IRE) rounded out 4th and 5th place and the last of the ITM runners. They were only a couple of lengths behind third place after both were running near the front of the field early particularly CHILL OF A DOLLAR(IRE) who faded badly at the end.  Other rans were ROAD RULES(AUS), ORO(ENG), COZY HILTON(SAF) and KASH WISH(KY) brought up the rear some 17 1/4 lengths off of the winner.  Maybe back to allowance company for these to freshen up, get some confidence and results back before another try at Stakes level.

Its interesting to see these 2yo’s come out at this level as sometimes you get some really good performances and thats exactly what we got with our first and second placing horses today in COUNTJEU(SAF) and BELEQWAYA(IRE). Congratulations to the ITM trainers and hope to see you back again next week.
