G2, Dell Web Mile
We are headed over to California this Saturday where a featured race on the card will be the G2, Dell Web Mile. This race will be across the firm turf track and is restricted to 3 year old and older entries. The race has drawn a field of ten horses that will make the start in search of wire and winner’s circle. This looks to be a competitive field, and the odds makers have released their morning line odds. With the post positions drawn let us take a quick preview of the horses that will make the start this Saturday in the G2, Dell Web Mile.
| 1 | THAT WONT SCARE ME | AUS | 5M | liam31 | F Gossett | 18 | 4 | 56% | $1,000,770 | 80.00 | 7/1 |
Coming out of the paddock first we have this 5 year old Bay Horse (I AM INVINCIBLE (AUS) x HARD SPUN x FORTY NINER) has a couple of graded second place finishes recently in G2 level races. But last time out he would throw a clunker in Kentucky when he went 8 furlongs in the G2, The Sparkler Handicap. He remained way back throughout this race and would never be a factor. The owner would like to see a nice rebounding effort this time out when they head over the turf representing the Orphan Racing residency.
| 2 | GUILT FORMER | LA | 6G | adonai | A Dominguez | 21 | 13 | 86% | $641,871 | 104.00 | 7/1 |
Next, we have this 6 year old Bay Gelding (GUILT TRIP x NEW APPROACH (IRE) x DYNAFORMER) that was claimed back in March of this season. The new owner did not take long to putting this horse to work in some higher-class races. Three starts back he would get a second place finish in the G1, The Cobbler Mile and then follow that up with a second place finish in the G2, The Edward’s Kingdom. Then came his most recent start going 9 furlongs in California in the G1, Eddie O Cap. He would find disappointments in this race and would not factor finishing over fifteen lengths off. This horse has done very well overall for the new owner and looks for him to put up a good effort this Saturday when he heads out of the paddock to the cheers of an excited crowd.
| 3 | RYZE ARETOH | GB | 4G | ldstable | C Winter | 15 | 11 | 87% | $322,125 | 44.00 | 5/1 |
Here we have a 4 year old Bay Gelding (SOGANN x ZOFFANY x KITTEN’S JOY) that has shown up well in some Listed Stakes races recently, but that has struggled to hit the boards in some G3 races. Last time out he was on his game in Ohio going 7.5 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, New Ernie Tuft Challenge. He shot out of the gate and never looked back as he made a gate to wire trip for the win with a 115 speed rating. He gets another opportunity this weekend to step up into graded company and prove himself when he heads out in the post parade representing the East-West Connection residency.
| 4 | OLDMOON ACCEPTED | IRE | 4G | oldmoonfarms2 | R Harzheim | 14 | 5 | 57% | $561,715 | 144.00 | 9/1 |
This is a 4 year old Chestnut Gelding (NIGHT OF THUNDER x SNITZEL x DARK ANGEL (IRE)) that had a big win last November in the G1, The Oldmoonfarms Mile. Since that time, he has seen many struggles as in his three most recent starts he has not been able to hit the boards this season. Last time on the track was in Kentucky going 8 furlongs in the G2, The Sparkler Handicap. He would again struggle trying to close late down the stretch and ended up crossing the wire in eighth. He gets another shot as a four year old to find the boards this weekend when he heads out at post time representing the Only Stayers residency.
| 5 | RYZE BLACKALL | AUS | 4G | newastin19 | L Radzinski | 15 | 8 | 80% | $407,860 | 68.00 | 4/1 |
Here we have a 4 year old Chestnut Gelding (GOOD JOURNEY x KITTEN’S JOY x SEATTLE SLEW) that has had some nice races for the owner including his most recent start that came in Kentucky. He would travel 8 furlongs in the G2, The Sparkler Handicap. He would make a big charge down the stretch picking off horses and his 117 speed would gather him a third place finish as he crossed the wire just a quarter off the lead. He looks to be in the hunt for a graded win and he gets that shot this weekend when he heads over to the turf representing the All-Stars Racing residency.
| 6 | SUPERSTITOUS STAR | IRE | 5F | padrebri20 | K Proehl | 14 | 7 | 79% | $550,631 | 62.00 | 5/1 |
This is a 5 year old Bay Mare (GALILEO (IRE) x SEATTLE SLEW x RAHY) that is here to take on the boys this weekend. She has a good record coming into this start on Saturday and has not missed hitting the boards since March of 2023. In her most recent start, she would head out here in California going 8 furlongs in the G2, The Call For Cash. Once again, she was on her game as she stayed close just off the lead. When asked for a little extra effort down the stretch she would deliver and get up for the win by two and a quarter strides with a 112 speed rating. The owner likes what he sees in this big girl and is looking to keep her record intact this weekend when they head over to the gates representing the GR Simsters residency.
| 7 | INTO SHADY | KY | 4M | knightstc | S Webb | 15 | 6 | 67% | $200,680 | 5.75 | 12/1 |
Now we have this 4 year old Bay Colt (INTO MISCHIEF x CANDY RIDE x A.P. INDY) that has made his two most recent starts on the turf. He took well to the turf during his transition back in May when he picked up an Allowance win in Kentucky. In his most recent start, he would head to Wyoming where he would go 6 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Little Tedzig Turf Dash where he would find a third place finish. He gets a graded start this weekend on the turf and the owner is looking for a good effort as he brings him back around two turns. He will head out in the post parade to the cheers of an exited crowd.
| 8 | MONASTEREVIN | IRE | 4M | cb1011 | GD Mate | 15 | 6 | 60% | $632,933 | 132.25 | 6/1 |
Coming out next will be this 4 year old Bay Colt (SEA THE STARS x REDOUTE’S CHOICE x MR. PROSPECTOR) who two starts back here in California put up a big effort to get the win in the G2, The Frisco Mile. He would then head to Berkshire where he would travel 8 furlongs in the G1, The Queen Sam. He would not find the same success across the pond and would never factor in this race with an eleventh place finish. He is coming back to California to a track the owner knows he likes to run on and looks for him to show up with extra effort this time out when he heads over to the turf representing The Mecca residency.
| 9 | SUGAR SENSATION | SAF | 6M | kingscourt6 | T Ace | 15 | 4 | 53% | $142,117 | 4.00 | 18/1 |
Next, we will see this 6 year old Light Grey Horse (FLOWER ALLEY x UNBRIDLED’S SONG x STORMY ATLANTIC) that will be the longest choice in the morning line. He has bounced around at various distances at the Allowance level and will make his first graded start this weekend. In his most recent start, he would go 8 furlongs in Kentucky in a $50700 NW4L Allowance. He was ready for this race and would get up for the win. He needs to show up this weekend ready for a big race as he jumps up in class to make the start representing the Universal Racing Club residency.
| 10 | ROCK REEF RACER | IRE | 4G | rubber4 | M Scott | 15 | 5 | 73% | $698,564 | 184.00 | 7/1 |
Breaking from the final gate in this race will be this 4 year old Bay Gelding (FASTNET ROCK (AUS) x GALILEO (IRE) x MILL REEF) who is a prior G1 winner. He would find that win last November in the G1, New Zealand 2000 Dark Beers. He has had a couple of hits on the board since that time in graded starts. In his most recent trip to the track, we would see him head out going 9 furlongs in Tasmania. He would put up a good effort here and would cross the wire in third with a 112 speed rating. He is seeking his first graded win of the season here in California when he heads out at post time representing the Northwest Racing Circuit residency.
Good luck to all owners and horses!
