Queensland Hosts Train Station Stakes (G3)

Twelve fillies waiting to leave the station

Twelve 3-year-old fillies will race in the Train Station Stakes at
Queensland on Saturday. Only three of the fillies have speed figures in
triple digits – Flowerats (twice), Briseida (twice), and Violete (once).
Three entrants – Flowerats, Pride of Archer, Fantastica Visione –
haven’t won in a year or more.

1) Flowerats 19 5-3-0 $567,160

Flowerats’ last eight races have been stakes, 4 of which were graded.
She was second in three of the ungraded races, once in a field of only
four.

Only two of her races have not been stakes, an MSW and one allowance,
She won her first five races, including a Grade 1, but hasn’t won in
over a year.

2) Running Silly 10 4-1-1 $131,616

Running Silly makes her sixth stakes appearance. Her last five have been
stakes, with three allowances filling out her last eight. She won an
ungraded stakes and two allowances, one of those, her last, by a mere
nose. (This was not the same race Fire up the (Eng) lost by a nose.)

3) Briseida 13 6-1-1 $374,430

Her last six races have been graded stakes with a win in a G2 and
placement in a G1. In that race, an Equinics race, she was third, only
3/4 of a length back. She won both of the ungraded stakes.

She ran in one earlier ungraded race, unplaced.

4) Fire Up the (Eng) 17 8-2-4 $51,600

Some breeders cleverly incorporate the breeding location into a horse’s
name as this breeder did.

This is her first stakes race. She has won six of her last eight, losing
her last by only a nose. Several of her races have been in smaller fields.

She was seventh in her only turf race, over a year ago. She seems to
like an off track, which she won’t have today, winning or placing in all
four off track races. She appears to have been claimed three times, once
for $4000.

Most of her races have been at 6 to 6.5 furlongs. Her last two have been
$8700 allowances – she lost her last by a nose – so this race could be
difficult for her, involving more distance than she has run before, a
change of surface, and a jump in class to her first stakes, with no
ungraded stakes as preps. She also has the lowest average earnings per
race in the field, less than half that of the next lowest.

5) Danakristical 18 4-2-5 $123,330

Four of her last eight races have been stakes, one graded, with two 3rds
in ungraded stakes. She won an allowance two races ago at this distance
on an off track. She generally runs 6 to 8 furlongs, sometimes in
smaller fields. She has run in a G1 but was unplaced.

6) Pride of Archer 13 3-4-3 $131,729

She has run in three ungraded stakes and was unplaced in each. Some of
her races have been in smaller fields.

She was third in an ungraded stakes a year ago.

7) Violete 13 5-4-2 $201,615

Violete won her last race with an above-100 speed figure (the only last
race 100+ in the field), an ungraded stakes with a field of four at 6
furlongs. She hasn’t run at this distance. Her last four races have been
at 6 to 6.5 furlongs, shorter than today’s race, though she has placed
at 8 and 10 furlongs.

8) Fantastica Visione 13 2-3-2 $90,980

Fantastica Visione has been running 6 to 7 furlongs, including four
recent stakes, one of which was graded.

She has run in three other stakes, two graded, winning an ungraded
stakes. Her last win was in May, 2007.

9) Seymour’s Darling 18 3-7-3 $257,680

Her last 8 races have been stakes (0-2-1 – ungraded) to G1. She has been
running longer, 8 to 11 furlongs, though her last was at 7 furlongs.

Her last win was a year ago.

10) Brief 13 5-3-3 $97,166

She has been in two stakes, both ungraded, and won one at this distance.
She usually runs 6.5 to 7.5 furlongs. Her record in her last 8 races is
4-0-3, unplaced only in an ungraded stakes.

With three exceptions she has improved her speed figures from race to
race. In one case she ran the same figure twice in a row followed by a
decrease of one point in the next race. The third exception was two
races ago which was run on an off track.

She has no earlier stakes races. Her only other failure to place was in
her first race which was her only dirt race.

11) Street Crying 14 6-5-0 $188,185

She has had 6 recent stakes, up to G2, winning two ungraded races and
running second in two more. Only her last five races have been on the
turf (2-3-0), including two allowances in which she was second.

She ran in two earlier stakes, winning one and running 4th in the other.

12) Gypsy Tears 13 3-3-2 $184,090

Her last race was an allowance in which she ran fourth, but 13 1/4
lengths back. She has run in seven recent stakes, to a G1 in which she
was third. She won an ungraded stakes at 6 furlongs.

She had five earlier races, none of them stakes, where her record was 2-2-1.
