The Senor Boomer Challenge Stks

An even bunch of 2yo’s are set to fight out the main race at Newmarket this weekend. 4-1 the field in a 9 horse field tells you that punter will have a hard time working this out. There appears a lot of early speed, and this should help the run on horses.

1- NIMZOWITSCH 9-2; Refuse to Bend 2yo who has been consistent in his 4 start career. Disappointing last start and drops back to 7.5f after 3 straight Mile runs. Not the worst.

2-LIME ACTION 5-1; Progressive 2yo who won last time at this trip in MSW company after an encouraging debut. Gets back but hits the line hard. Good jock, good draw, good chance.

3- DRAMATIC CHARGE 5-1; Lawmen colt who has won 1 of 7. Shows good early speed and looks set to help provide the speed. I like the step up in trip, but doubt he has the class.

4- BARTSI GUSSE 8-1; By Savabeel, this colt has won his last 3. Has had a long preparation for a 2yo so whether he can keep performing is a question. On breeding should appreciate this distance and probably further. Place chance.

5- EL IS THE BEST 4-1; Undefeated colt who has looked very impressive so far in his 2 race career. Went significantly faster over the same course and distance as Bartsi Gusse last start. Has had his runs expertly placed, and looks set to be a major player here.

6- LATENT RUBY 10-1; Another undefeated colt who made the transition from MSW to Stakes win with a solid win against questionable opposition. Yet another on pacer and has to be respected.

7-CIRCLE OF SILENCE 9-1; So far has only been tried on turf, and his form on that surface isn’t up to the standard necessary to win this. Unless his dirt form is significantly better, he wont bother these.

8- I SCREAM 14-1; 3rd of the undefeated colts. He has raced on the pace to win his first 2 starts and looks set to get a trail just behind the speedsters in this. He is massively over the odds at 14-1, and with natural improvement again he can be considered a hope here.

9- DAVIS PRAYER 4-1; Beautifully bred son of Theatrical who has won 2 of 6 but 2 from 4 on the dirt. Didn’t run the mile 2 runs ago but bounced back over 6.5f last time out. Already stakes placed, and with a top jockey on board, he too is a major player.

In an even race I like 5 from 2.9 and 8. Despite its evenness, there do look to be some colts with good futures in the race, and it should be a good clash
