Close Run Race at Queensland

What a fantastic race!  Now that should keep the crowds and punters coming back if we have close racing like that each week at Queensland.

Leogold(IRE) had the early start and was neck and neck with Tycoon’s Niner(IRE) for the first furlong. Leogold(IRE) then took over and was out by a length for the next furlong or so just pacing well and keeping track of time.  Then the heavies started winding up with Red Light Run It(ENG) making the move and quickly taking over the lead.  At this point you would probably have thought the colt had the race won there.  But coming from behind was the big fast runner in Hunting for Limes(KY) and today he was hunting them down from the rear.  Fast finisher and great race by the jockey to take the win over Red Light Run It(ENG). Leogold(IRE) held on for third place after taking the early lead and it was a good run too in the end.  Another one which was unlucky not to get a place was Libertine(IRE) who was finishing very fast on the outside. Another couple of lengths and he would have been challenging for second place I think.  Great race though.  Silverino(FR) and Count Zimzam(AUS) both had good races too posting speeds of 103 and 101 respectively. The remaining horses bringing up the tail were Sweeper’s Sister(AUS), Tycoon’s Niner(IRE), Chasing Tale(KY) with The One Too bringing up the rear.

The local Queensland trainers out of the Hawkz Racing Inc (zimzam) and NextBonus Racing (songcycle) stable groups didn’t figure in the placings today but they will be back I’m sure very soon folks. Hope to see you back here at what has been another exciting day of racing at the Queensland track.
