Welcome to the East Coast Mile brought to you by the great state of Rhode Island. This race is full of great mares with even greater potential. Some looking for their first grade win others looking to once again be a graded winner, even some coming into their first graded attempt. At a mile on the fast dirt track, this race is building up to be one of the great races of the week. As the race draws nearer lets view the horses in the race and get a view into what we could possibly see.

PP1 123147 Sought And Found Trn Jimj2 Jockey R Manson 4/1

Seeking The Gold x Dixieland Band x Blushing Groom(FR)

This horse likes to come from the gate, and go towards the back of the pack. She will stalk the leaders until its time for her to make her move. She has a great kick and possesses great speed. In her last race she showed once again how she likes to run from the back of the pack. With her speed and knowing when to make her move, she is going to be hard to beat. R Manson got the go ahead to make the ride, and I am sure he will be looking to run her the same way. Look for this horse to be near the front at the end of this race.

PP2 127935 Hill Valley(KY) Trn Hornets07 Jockey D Tyrrell 8/1

Slew City Slew x Dixieland Band x Buckpasser

Coming from pole position two is a great horse owned by Hornets07. This horse is looking at its second attempt at the graded level. This mare love to hang in the middle of the pack before making her move. She has great speed and if she makes her move at just the right time, she can easily win this race. The jockey for this horse is D Tyrrell, and he is looking to put this horses success to the graded level in this race. Watch for this horse to be very competitive at the end of the race.

PP3 76922 Mach Red Trn Troync5 Jockey B Scott 7/1

Red Ransom x Machiavellian x Hoist The Flag

This mare coming from pole position three is coming off a grade one victory. She will be looking to improve upon her graded success in this grade two. She likes to stalk the leaders from the front of the pack. Look for her to stay near third or fourth place for most of the race. When she makes her move, she could move well into the lead, and hold of the other mares that like to make late moves. B Scott will be looking for a foothold near the front of the pack before he gets her to make her move. Look for her at the front in the end of this one.

PP4 92480 Seeking Death Trn Lenny28 Jockey V P Davis 6/1

Seeking The Gold x Lyphard x Never Say Die

Coming from pole position four is a great competitive mare. She has a great racing record, and is looking at her second graded attempt. She has great speed, and her move is one of the best around. Coming off a mile win she is looking for a back to back win, at the mile distance. Jockey V P Davis is looking forward to the race, in hopes he has what it takes to push her into the winners circle in this grade two. Will be very interesting to watch this mare throughout the race. She could very well be the next graded lady.

PP5 107911 Dresden Trn Mariana2 Jockey A Ringler 9/1

Lammtarra x Miswaki x Seattle Slew

Coming from pole position five is another great lady who is returning off a mile win. She has a great record in her nineteen career races. She has showed she has the speed, and has the patience to keep from going for the kill right away. She lurks just of the pace of the leader, hoping to find the right line, or perhaps looking for the weakness to get her past the competition. She is a threat whenever on the track. With jockey A Ringler getting the ride will be another great performance from this great mare.

PP6 149156 Awesome Sight(KY) Trn Dwhisper Jockey S Meola 14/1

Awesome Again x Damascus x Miswaki

Coming out of gate number six is another great horse with a great record. This mare only has nine career starts, and of those seven were in the top three. She hasn’t ran any stakes races so far, this will be her first at the stakes level. It will be hard to tell what this awesome mare will do in this grade two. Theres no other graded races for me to compare to. I will say this though, I believe this great mare has the speed and ability to win this race. Jockey S Meola will be looking to help this great mare cross the wire in front of the competition. It will be interesting to see how this races turns out for her.

PP7 144192 Graupoint(KY) Trn Xanderman Jockey G Tapia 8/1

Point Given x Storm Cat x Vice Regent

The mare coming out of gate number seven has been in graded races before. She has not won one yet, but that could change this week. She has speed and talent. She has a great career record. She likes to stay in the middle of the pack, stalking the leader. She will look to make her move just before the stretch. Her jockey G Tapia hopes he can get her to break to the lead before the rest of the pack, and hold them off to take the win. This will be another mare to watch in the race, which is turning out to be very talented and fast.

PP8 122633 Clout(KY) Trn Lasthope Jockey G Skaggs 7/1

Storm Cat x Seeking The Gold x Alydar

The mare in gate number 8 has a great racing record. She has the speed and ability to win this race. I am just wondering if she doesn’t like the fast dirt track. She seems to like the muddy tracks better. That may just be the difference between a win and an also ran. I think she could very well prove me wrong. Just by looking at her last bunch of races, I think she likes the mud. Her jockey G Skaggs will look to get this great mare into the lead in the latter stages of the race. Look for her to be competitive in this race, she can win it if she makes her move just right.

PP9 121964 Reno Trn Jimdscott Jockey K Henry 7/1

Gone West x Northern Dancer x Graustark

Coming from pole position nine is a mare that is looking for her first graded win. She has a lot of speed, and if she runs her race can use that speed to put her in the lead. She likes to lurk between the back of the pack to the front of the pack, while stalking the leader. The jockey given the ride is K Henry. He will look to put her into the winners circle this time around. This mares ability to stalk the leader will be put to the test as there is a lot of great closers in this race. She just needs to be the one to close the best to be the winner of this one.

PP10 26580 Squeakers Trn Shredder1 Jockey W Abner 12/1

Alzao x King Of Kings (IRE) x Alydar

This mare is looking for a graded win also. She has had many graded attempts all of which have yet to yield a win. This may be the week she becomes a graded winner. She had a decent outting in her last race although she didn’t finish in the top three. She has plenty of speed and has a lot of talent. The only thing I am slightly worried about is if she is declining from age. I think she can win this race if she makes her move at the right time. Her jockey W Abner is going to try to keep her around the middle of the pack. Look for her to be competitive and possibly win this race.

PP11 111841 Desperado Wish Trn Desperado4 Jockey M Nad 8/1

Gone West x Dixieland Band x Key To The Mint

The mare coming from gate number eleven is another great mare looking for more graded success. She has been to the winners circle at the graded level before, and will be looking to visit it again after this race is said and done. She didn’t have a good outing in her last race finish wise. She will be looking to return to he winning ways this week. With her jockey being M Nad anything is possible. M Nad will look to run her to previous winning efforts in hopes of walking away a winner. She likes to hang between the middle to the back of the pack, and charge to the front.

Final Thoughts

Well after looking through the mares in this race, I have to say this will be a very fast race and I don’t see any clear cut winner in this race. Every horse in this race can win this one, its going to be a question of which horse makes their move at the right time and can hold off the competition. As I had said theres no clear cut winner in this one so making a pick to be the winner is going to be hard. I believe it will come down to two horses in the end, and it will be Sought And Found and Desperado Wish fighting for the win with Sought And Found edging out the win. The competition in this race is very high and will make this race very exciting. Good Luck to all the trainers and their mares.
