For Love Of The Game

Thanks to the inspiration from my dear Sim friends on the Message Board & the Chat this article came to be.

I Hope it causes a giggle (yes, giggle) or two!!  Enjoy!

YOU KNOW YOU ARE ADDICTED TO THE SIM WHEN…

  1. You buy a laptop so you can still play when you’re out of town.
  2. You take your laptop on vacation so you can sit in the condo lobby & watch your horses race.
  3. You stand in line for 2 hours at the library just to use the internet for 15 minutes to enter your 200 horses for the week. (Talk about speed entering!!)
  4. You admit that you’ve used your Blackberry phone to try to navigate the Sim (which is torturously slow, & you have to squint).
  5. You suffer through your friend’s dinosaur dial-up internet for 10 hours to do a job that normally would take 30 minutes.
  6. You sneak on to the game at work, throwing glances over your shoulder to make sure your boss isn’t sneaking up on you. Who knows, she may be trying to steal your new-and-totally-awesome-future-Derby-winner-to-be 2yo that you’re researching!
  7. At the betting window at your local racetrack you place a $100 exacta bet on Solar Song and Ermington Pegusus in the 16th race.
  8. You scream with joy when you see the reigning Sim T.O.T.Y. in your local Rite-Aid, running up to her for her autograph & picture.
  9. Instead of sleepwalking at night you sleep chat in the Sim.
  10. You get in a heated debate with Mo-Joe at the track bar when he leans over & states that Seattle Slew was the greatest racehorse to grace the track … ever! Your rebuttal is that Storm Dog is obviously the best horse in the world, she’s even ranked “A.”
  11. You’ve spent 45 minutes checking the Sim, and entering horses, on a Cruise Ships internet center, at a cost of nearly $2.00 per minute.
  12. You’ve walked over 2 miles through the French Quarter in New Orleans, at 2:30 am, searching for a 24 hour Internet Cafe, so that you could watch your results!
  13. You call in sick to work so you can have extra time to enter horses before the deadline.
  14. The only way you will agree to a camping trip is if the campground has wireless internet.
  15. You are on the brink of collapsing due to severe dehydration, but you refuse to go to the hospital until after all your horses are entered into races.
  16. You’ve been in the game for over 5 years and you have never missed one week of racing or even watching your horses race.
  17. You may possibly have a life-threatening pulmonary embolism, but you put off going to the emergency room because you haven’t finished making spreadsheets for your 5 new stables.
  18. You make sure that you have a buddy in the Sim that will enter you horses for you on weeks that you are forced to be away from the internet.
  19. You choose watching your Sim ponies race instead of enjoying time with your new bride on your honeymoon in Maldives.
  20. You rearrange social events around Sim deadlines.
  21. World War III breaks out in your house between yourself and spouse or significant other anytime you so much as glance at a computer.
  22. You pack your desktop computer when you go out of town so you won’t miss a single moment of this great game!
  23. You raked up over $600 in long distance phone calls via hotel dial up on your last business trip because you had to get your horse entries finished… And then expensed the entire bill to your company.
  24. You stole Linda Rice’s laptop out of her office at Saratoga so you could check your simulated horse races.
  25. You’ve hi-jacked a complete stranger’s laptop at the local Starbucks when the person made the mistake of getting in line for another decaf mocha latte.
