Sim Hall Of Fame inducts Class of ’08
The Sim Hall Of Fame & Awards Committee announces the induction of Horseshoe Bay and Krishna into the Hall Of Fame. The pair brings the current total of Hall Of Famers to 23.
The 2008 class:
Horseshoe Bay
Coming as no surprise whatsoever, Texasace’s magnificent Horseshoe Bay enters the Hall immediately in his first year of balloting. Known as “Bay Bay” for short, many recognize this great titan of the turf’s career as the best-ever in the game’s history. No one can forget “Bay Bay” breaking Sunnybank Memorial’s consecutive Grade 1 victory streak in 2005. Then a sophomore, Horseshoe Bay counted the Derby de English amongst his electrifying win streak, bettering his predecessor’s record to 6-in-a-row. Horseshoe Bay would go on to collect the first of what would be two consecutive Breeders Bowl Turf trophies that season, claiming Sim Eclipse Awards titles as well as the coveted 2005 Sim Horse of The Year prize. He dominated the Long Turf Division as an older horse at ages 4 and 5 too, winning the Turf Horse title again in 2006. Horseshoe Bay retired last December with $10.5 million in lifetime earnings.
“Horseshoe Bay is named for a resort in the Texas hill country, which is fitting given his owner’s Texas connections. This son of Red Ransom, affectionately known as Bay Bay, has provided his owner/trainer, and racing, a taste of the high life, with the sort of remarkable career that only comes along once in a while, and is to be enjoyed while it lasts…..” Read Topicount’s Horseshoe Bay Hall Of Fame biography
Krishna
Few if any gamers can match player Theatrical’s wildly fantastic Sim success. Already the trainer of Sim Hall Of Famer School Kris (Class of ’05), Phil (theatrical/paceman2) gains his second inductee in the grand racemare Krishna. A champion at age 3, Krishna is probably best known for spectacularly winning multiple Grade 1 races over both surfaces in the summer and fall of her sophomore year. However, that is only half the story of this unique mare’s five racing seasons. Long after most players would have retired her, Theatrical persevered with Krishna, letting her carve out a splendid niche as a top-notch stayer. She enters the Hall with an exceptionally varied and wide-ranging career.
“Paceman2’s prize filly had a remarkable season that will probably never be equaled, winning G1 races on both dirt and turf, defeating both males and females, as well as older females. She never ducked, taking on the highest level of competition, and was rewarded with championship honors as best 3yo filly in that year…..” Read Topicount’s Krishna (IRE) Hall Of Fame biography
