Which Two-year-Old Colt won’t be Looking Back after the $150,000 Grade3 Looking Forward Stakes
A field of ten Two-year-old Colts will navigate around two turns for the first time in the $150,000 Grade 3 Looking Forward Stakes. The race will be run at One Mile over the Turf Course.
FASTCARSNFREEDOM – making up ground late in all six of his career starts, the tfon connections are hopeful that the added distance and an extra turn is the recipe for success for this gelded son of Exceed and Excel… making his first stakes appearance in the Mr Xyz Turf Juvenile LTO, the IRE bred was making a late bid before running out of racetrack in the Six and a half furlong feature while getting the best of FRENCH DETZKY and EXPERTLY BRED, both whom draw outside of him in today’s feature…Dam produced multiple stakes and stakes placed runners, however, the bulk of their success came while sprinting…stretch threat
COAGULATE KENNEDYS – well thought of 2-Year-Old Brown Colt by Kennedy, the corza connections immediately challenged the OH bred on the dirt at the Allowance level, albeit a NW1y, and after a 2nd place finished, transitioned to a non-competitive effort in a Listed Stakes and equally uninterested start in the Faber College Juvenile…slick connections quickly recognized a failed strategy, switched surfaces, and dropped into a maiden claimer where he finished third, then dropped to his lowest level in his next start at the Local Maiden level and proved much the best traveling the seven panels in 1:24:3 with a career best 80 speed figure…showing a preference to the green, connections once again try there hand at the graded level here on Saturday…must show more
FIREDIMES – runner up in the GR Simsters Future StarsStakes in his racing debut, the robsscoobi trained son of Frankel quickly made amends in his next start with a gate to wire victory at the MSW level in NSW…out of the Stakes winning Mare THANXTOOTAFFY(Street Cry), Dam of G1 winning KIVAX, winner of the 10f G1 Prince Of Whales, there should be no doubting his class or ability to handle two turns…dangerous
SELFISH RAGE – you have to be impressed with the tenpoint trained 2-Year-Old Bay Colt by Frankel’s second place finish LTO over a Yielding Surface in the 3away Turf Special, finishing ahead of Grade 1 winner I AM IN DEEP…should delight at the distance…no grade one winners in this field…one to beat.
VYZI BASKET – kudos to the cancun connections for snatching this PA Bred out of a 6k Claimer in his debut…the son of Twisted Mister immediately rewarded his new connections with a win at the Allowance level and following up with victories in the Green Van Turf Juvenile and Huskie Q B Casey P Turf Juvenile respectively, earning a start in Saturday’s G3 feature … the undefeated Gelding has checks all the boxes and pedigree suggests he will handle the added distance as and looks to continue his streak while -furlong around two turns for the first time…might be this good
NEITHERSYNDICATION – the thebigshow trained 2-Year-Old Bay Colt by Soldier Hollow is the last offspring of the G2 winning, multi stakes producing mare RIDE FOR SHOW, winner of the 8-fulong Fujimoto Stakes…the three-time winning GER bred has made an impact over both the dirt and turf course averaging a 79-speed figure in those four starts. Speed figures put him right in the mix, while his pedigree suggests he will handle the added distance…might need to rate.
FRENCH DETZKY – the heinzkruger trained 2-Year-Old Bay Colt by Wootton Basset was nothing short of sensational in his first three starts, capping off the troika with a convincing victory in the 6-furlong Atlantian Turf Juvenile…the FR bred faltered in his last start in the 6.5-furlong Mr Xyz Turf Juvenile finishing behind FASTCARSNFREEDOM, and while his immediate influence suggest he prefers sprinting, he will have to rely on his Grand Dam DARK SIDE OF SUN to negotiate the two turns…must not falter
EXPERTLY BRED – got to love that Allowance win two back, a key race that saw third place finisher HATED SEPOY finish ITM in multiple stakes races in his following starts…the selurnivek trainee by Expert Eye failed to fire in the Mr Xyz Turf Juvenile LTO finishing on even terms with FRENCH DETZKY and behind FASTCARSNFREEDOM…Dam has produced multiple turf routers, one a stakes winner, so pedigree influence suggests an improved effort going around two turns…deserves another chance
MIGRAINE RELIEF – fastest of the fast might best describe the lenny trained 2-Year-Old Bay Colt by I Am Invincible…while the field was nothing to write home about in his last start, that 87-speed figure put up in that 7.5-furlong Allowance prep should catch the attention of everyone in this field…Dam was modest at best during her racing career, but she has proven much more efficient producer with one stakes winner and multiple Allowance winners…will his kryptonite be that even 8 panels is a tad short, dams influence suggest a possibility, but that’s hoping against hope…one to catch
THE WARBREAKER – second of the lenny entries, this a 2 Year Old Bay Colt by War Front, out of the G3 winning, stakes producing mare THE KINGBREAKER, winner of the G3 Davola Dane South on the Dirt…the KY bred returns to the Turf, where he was near perfect, after a failed effort in the Huge Glacken Dirt Juvenile…finished third to WILL TAKE RAHYS in the Curlwaa Turf Juvenile two back who went on to finish behind FASTCARSNFREEDOM in the Mr Xyz Turf Juvenile…should improve with distance but maybe the lesser of the lenny duo…throw out last
Handicapping the Field
SELFISH RAGE and FIREDIMES figure to be the major players in this field giving SELFISH RAGE the slight advantage with its second-place finish over the G1 winning I AM IN DEEP. FIREDIMES is packed with the pedigree of a cham, pion and hails from sharp connections.
MIGRAINE RELIEF is fast but will have to contend with early pressure from NEITHERSYNDICATION and whatever other speed presents itself when horses go around two turns for the first time. The latter might be the most compromised while keeping the pace honest.
No telling how good VYZI BASKET really is, but best to disregard this horse debuted a claimer, he’s clearly not.
FASTCARSNFREEDOM, FRENCH DETZKY, EXPERTLY BRED, and THE WARBREAKER are all connected through the Mr Xyz Turf Juvenile, and while FASTCARSNFREEDOM benefits most from an early speed duel, the chances are the added distance will propel one of them over the others, but unlikely past the top tier.
COAGULATE KENNEDYS is an up and down sort who appears overmatched in this field.
The Picks
SELFISH RAGE – gets a Class edge.
MIGRAINE RELIEF – might be too fast for these.
FIREDIMES – too much for the rest
