Grade 3 Stakes – Purse $150,000
Restricted to 3 Year Old Fillies
16 furlongs on Turf
Today we travel to Bro Park Racecourse inUplands Bro Municipality (40 km from Stockholm) for the running of the “St. Ipa de Swedish”, a sixteen furlong race on the turf for three-year old fillies. The race features some of the best the EURO RESIDENCY has to offer and the winner will take home the majority share of the $150,000 purse. We have perfect conditions for racing and a huge crowd is in attendance.
Here is a closer look at the field:

This DR. FONG filly has finished in the money in six of her fourteen career starts including two wins. She makes her first Graded Stakes start here following a twelve furlong win at an Allowance Race in Turkey where she ran career best 99 speed and won by more than two lengths. She makes another big jump in distance here but I think she should be able to manage it and might find a way to sneak a spot on the board.

This MENDELSSOHN filly comes in off an impressive win at this same distance at an Allowance Race in France. She ran 96 speed in that one and showed good tactics in beating the runner-up by more than four lengths and the third place finisher by seven. She is running in her first Graded Stakes but I think she will perform well and we could see 100+ speed from her. She should garner lots of interest at the betting windows and I think she has a good chance of taking home the win here.

This FASTNET ROCK filly finished third two back at the twelve furlong “G1 Adelaide Oaks” where she ran 92 speed and was beaten by FOMORIA by four lengths. Last time out she stretched things out to sixteen furlongs for the first time and went gate to wire for the win at this same track. She will face better competition here but her experience at the distance should benefit her and she should be in the mix as they make the turn for home.

This SOTTSASS filly has finished in the money in seven of her eight career starts including three wins with the most recent coming at a nine and a half furlong Allowance Race in Germany in April. She is making her third straight Graded Stakes start with the other two resulting in a third place finish at the “G2 Diana Grand Prix” and a fourth place finish at the “G3 Oaks de Danish”. I think she will like the distance here as she likes to run near the back of the pack before closing late down the stretch. She should be one to watch as she competes out of the one hole.

This CONTRAIL filly out of the Hall of Fame Sim Mare JEU DE MOT comes in off back to back wins with the most recent coming at a fifteen furlong Allowance Race in England where she ran 83 speed and won by more than ten lengths. She will face better competition here but she should handle the distance well and I think will be in the mix for a spot on the board.

This SIXTIES ICON filly comes in on four weeks rest after an impressive 94 speed victory at an Allowance Race in England at this same distance. Two back she ran in her first Stakes race when she competed in the twelve furlong “2 Weeks To Late Epsom Oaks” where she finished third. She makes the big jump to Graded Stakes here but I think she will have a good showing and might be a nice long shot pick as she competes out of the eight hole.

This CONSTITUTION filly makes the first Graded start of her career and just her second start on the turf with the previous coming in her third start as a two year old. Last time out she ran 90 speed over a twelve furlong track in an Allowance Race in Kentucky and she won by more than six lengths. She comes in well rested but I am not sure that the change in surface will suit her.

This FRANKEL filly has finished in the money in four of her nine career starts including three wins. Last time out she ran in her first Graded Stakes at the twelve furlong “G3 Oaks de Swedish” where she ran career best 100 speed and finished in fifth place. She seemed to manage the distance well there and should be able to handle the extra four furlongs here and should be in the mix as they make the turn for home.

This STUNNING SPIRIT filly comes in off back to back wins at Claiming Races with the most recent coming in Germany in a four horse field that feature two CPU horses. She ran career best 87 speed there over the eleven furlong turf track and was never challenged by runner-up KYMARG SUNDAY. She will face a bigger more competitive filed here but I think she will handle the distance well and she might be a nice surprise.

This MAKFI filly makes her first Graded Stakes start following back to back Stakes races that resulted in a third place finish two back and an eleventh place finish last time out. She comes in off just 15 days rest after racing on just eleven days rest in her previous start. The odds maker has her as the favorite but I’m not sure if she will handle the distance and the short layoff could be a factor too.
Thanks for a great article!
