Queensland – AUS (QLD)

Stakes – Purse $100,000
Restricted to 2 Year Olds
7.5 furlongs on Turf

Today we are at Aquis Park in Bundall Australia for the running of the ERC “ZOUSTAR”, a 7.5 furlong race on the turf for two-year olds.  This race features a field of ten and presents  some of the best “newbie” turf horses that the ERC residency has to offer. They will be competing for a purse of $100,000 and the winner will also collect the lion’s share of the stakes bonus points awarded, which will determine a club champion at year end. All but one of the entries have finished in the money in all of their starts and three come in undefeated. This is going to be a great race with lots of speed and it could come down to a photo finish at the wire.

Here is a closer look at the field:

t loesch                       11/1

This two-year old VANCOUVER filly out of the Sim Mare SATIN PURPLE comes in HOTwith three straight wins since being claimed by the newfy stables in mid January. Her speed numbers have increased with each start and last time out she blazed 77 speed in a gate to wire win in New South Wales. She faces the boys for the first time here but might surprise and find a spot on the board.

d evans                       9/1

This two-year old DEEP FIELD gelding out of the Sim Mare NO BEE A DOUBT LV has finished in the money in three of his five career starts including two wins. Last time out, he ran 78 speed in a gate to wire win at this same distance at an Allowance Race in Victoria and was never challenged. He will likely go to the front early and will probably need 80+ speed to hold off this competitive group of ten.

#3

c wyatt                       8/1

This two-year old SEPOY filly out of the Sim Mare SLISILELA started her career with back to runner-up finishes and has followed that up with back to back wins. Last time out she busted 84 speed at this same distance and won by less than a length against a five horse field in South Korea. She ran off the paced in both of her wins and I expect she will do the same here and should have a good chance of increasing her streak to three in a row.

r dowell                      4/1

This two-year old WRITTEN TYCOON coltout of the Sim Mare MICROWAVED POTATO has four wins in his first five career starts with his other race being a fifth place finish at the “ERC Dark Angel” back in March. He comes in off a win last time out when he ran 86 speed at a seven furlong  Allowance race in California. He ran near the back of the pack in that one and will probably look to deploy a similar strategy here before kicking it into high gear as they come down the stretch. He should be in the mix and has a good chance of taking home the win for the ownership group.

#7
keltus
chino15 barn
k perkins                     8/1

This two-year old scratch bed son of DARCI BRAHMA (x DANSILI x THEATRICAL) has gone gate to wire in winning his last two which both were run over four and a half furlong tracks. He impressed with 78 speed last time out and if he can repeat that he should be able to compete with this group. He will likely look to go to the front early and will have to fend off all late challengers.

#8
carbonwood
newyearz2 (summerset)
j cox                            5/1

This two-year old son of LILBOURNE LAD out of the Sim Mare HOLLYHOCK comes in undefeated in three career starts with all coming here in Australia. Last time out he blazed 86 speed over six and a half furlongs but was almost beaten by an impressive colt named DARN GOOD DEAL. He comes in well rested and should garner lots of interest at the betting windows and will get lots of support from the local crowd. He will go off as one of the favorites and may be tough to beat.

#9

c bollinger                  6/1

This two-year old WRITTENT TYCOON filly out of the Sim Mare BACK TO MY HOME comes in undefeated in two five and a half furlong starts. Last time she ran 72 speed and edged out COAGULATE FEEF and BID MACHINE by less than a length. She is stretching things out here for the first time but if she can handle the extra distance, she should compete with this group.

#4

p bangs                       8/1

This two-year old SEPOY filly out of the Sim Mare LAGUNAS has started her career with back to back wins. Last time out she ran 76 speed over a six and a half furlong track in New York and beat runner-up NIFTY DANCER by a length and a half. She comes in well rested and should have a chance to find a spot on the board.

#1

z zariz                                      5/1

This two-year old BULL POINT gelding out of the Sim Mare OUTBACK ANTIMONY was picked up in March and has finished in the money in all three of his starts with his new owners and broke his maiden last time out when he ran 81 speed over a seven furlong track. He is making his first start since being gelded with his last race coming on June 28. He should like the distance and will look to sit middle of the pack before challenging the early leaders.

#2

bigzstables9 barn
t phillips                              11/1

This two-year old CATALINA CRUISER colt out of the Sim Mare VALPAK broke his maiden just eight days ago in Wyoming when he ran 82 speed in a gate to wire win. He has gone to the front early in all three of his starts and I expect him to do the same here. Not sure how he will handle the short rest and travel but if he can recover quickly he could have a shot here. He is also making his first start on the turf.
