The SOOTHING LIMO Special

MICHIGAN – Only 6 in this weeks field but there is lots to like about this group. We have the 2003 and 2004 Panhandle Derby-G3 winners here today. Two 3 year olds trying the big show. Many making their stakes debuts. That’s always exciting especially when they are all so evenly matched. DOOR CRACK is the big favorite on the board at 8/5 for trainer manager.

1  RESURGENCE DUECE  (trained by hydrogen)   7/2
(DANZIG x FORTY NINER x NIJINSKY II)
-The sun seems to be setting on a pretty solid career with this royally bred 5 year old. Always a tough allowance competitor and he managed to bag a stakes here and there including the Panhandle Derby-G3 late in 2003. The short field could always be a blessing but his best days are probably past him.

2  LEMON FAIR RIVER  (trained by catamount2)    5/1
(BEHRENS x KINGMAMBO x SILVER HAWK)

-Nice looking 3 year old colt trying aged company for the first time. Likes to race near or on the lead which will make him the hunted in this race. Knows how to win and gets a chance to really show what he’s made of this week. Been averaging mid 90’s against his own kind and will need that and maybe more to get it done here this week.

3  CL CANDOR  (trained by pokerace)   5/1
(SUMMER SQUALL x SKY CLASSIC x STORM BIRD)
-Lightly raced 4 year old has walked up the allowance ladder and makes his first stakes start. Has won 3 of his last 4 with big late charges. We will have to see how the pace of a shorter field affects him. If the passing gear kicks in, could sweep ’em all.

4  GLUE FACTORY LOU  (trained by hurryup)   3/1
(ALPHABET SOUP x EL GRAN SENOR x PERSIAN BOLD(IRE))
–GLUE FACTORY LOU is not ready for the Glue Factory. Not yet anyway. And trainer hurryup doesn’t fit the name of somebody who would wait 28 starts into a horses career to give him his first shot at the big time. After breaking his maiden on the second asking and first time on the turf, this horse raced in 25 straight allowance races with good success. Surprising second choice on the board, or worthy? Question answered Saturday.

5  DESERTED KING(IRE)  (trained by persuader)   13/1
(ROCK OF GIBRALTAR (IRE) x GREEN DESERT x ROBERTO)
-This 3 year old has taken well to his new trainer to win his last two in fine style. Has two allowance restrictions to go yet but the way he raced his last couple times out for persuader must have …um…persuaded this trainer to take a shot. Another first time stakes starter.

6  DOOR CRACK  (trained by manager)   8/5
(EL CORREDOR x FAST PLAY x NUREYEV)
-The Fave in this field of six is a former graded winner (Panhandle Derby-G3) and has been graded placed in a Grade 1. Went a lifetime best 118 winning Panhandle Derby-G3 in 2004. Switches back to the green track and is very capable of hitting the century mark at any time. A race like that would put him in front of the Polaroid when this race is over.

Good Luck!
