NY Sires Series – HUECO MUNDO(NY) wins The Showdown for Ace Stables!

Race # 16
NY Sire Series Showdown 2008 — Owner Restricted Purse: $250,000
All horses, 3 years old — RESTRICTED TO PARTICULAR OWNERS
A mile and one eighth — Fast Dirt
Time of race: 1:51 2/5

Seven horses showed up for the final race in the 2008 NY Sires Series. It was a smaller than expected field, but it was still an exciting race.

MARLINA(NY) jumped out to an early lead followed by IENIESUS(NY). HUECO MUNDO(NY) was content to stalk the leaders in the third slot. MARLINA(NY) was able to stretch out her lead at the second call, but HUECO MUNDO(NY) started to make his move by the 3rd call. HUECO MUNDO(NY) with a burst of speed flew by MARLINA(NY) and she started to fall back. THIS IS FUN(NY) was able to maintain pace to take the place from MARLINA(NY).

THIS IS FUN(NY) deserves special mention due to a great run after joining The Showdown as an alternate!

Congrats to the stable owners and residencies!
Ace Stables – Ireland Division (Ireland)
Cmd Stables (Comedy Central)
Randy619 Stables (RASH)

There is a chance that there will be a 2yo Stakes race for NY Sires near the end of this year. There may be another NY Sires Series in 2009, but it depends on feedback. Please comment in feedback thread above.
