Smackdown: Colts 7f. Turf

Smackdown’s two year old colt turf sprint at seven furlongs is sure to create fireworks when these 15 world class colts hit the track. There is a lot of promising talent in this New York race. Favorite Echoes In Eternity will be looking to see if he can continue to improve on two strong performances for the GR Simsters.

Delpenn National has a strong performer in Awesome Twofive that should play a factor, and Minnesota has Marcus Andratticus and Code Enforcement whom look tough. Code Enforcement has a world of pedigree, and should be a monster once he grows into his shoes. Will be very interesting to see which horses here make major leaps forward.

Super Brave Awesome Again x Forty Niner x Danzig

Notes: Best speed figures came on dirt. Super Brave has not topped a 69 speed in three starts. Last start was turf debut with a 66 speed and a 2^nd place finish. Even so has the pedigree to be a great runner, and is worth keeping an eye on in this race.

Demonic Kitty Kitty Kitten’s Joy x Dynaformer x Habitat

Notes:  Won GR Simsters Future Stars Stakes in first start of career. That was on turf and the colt put up a fine speed factor of 73. The colt went on to race once more on turf running second with a 70 speed. In last start showed he likes dirt too. Last two starts has been front running, but showed kick in first start. Will be interesting to see what strategy he runs in Smackdown.

Awesome Twofive Dylan Thomas x Nureyev x Round Table

Notes: Won March Madness 2 YO Stakes with a 72 speed on wet turf. Last time out won with an 80 speed on turf. He has raced all three races on turf with wire to wire wins in each. Most likely will look to do the same again here in New York. Expect  Awesome Twofive to set a blazing pace. The big question is whether he will have the stamina to take it wire to wire.  

Big Whiskey Sadler’s Wells x Woodman x Affirmed

Rez: GR Simsters

Notes: Two races on turf with two wins of 74 and 78 speeds. That’s not bad at all. Has a nice strong finishing kick, and will look to run down strong frontrunners like Awesome Twofive and Echoes In Eternity which have proven to be tough competitors.

Kiffer Dansili x Storm Cat x Theatrical

Rez: Minnesota Downs

Notes: Broke maidens with a 69 speed on turf in first start. Turned around and finished second in the Wild Minstrel handicap with a 77. Likes to stalk just off the pace which is expected to be a brutal pace.

Echoes In Eternity Giant’s Causeway x A.P. Indy x Unbridled

Rez: GR Simsters

Notes: Comes into the race as a 6/1 favorite. Broke maidens with a 75 speed figure. In only other start finished third in Bright Buster Memorial Stakes with a 76. Should be interesting to see if Echoes and Awesome Twofive fight for the lead, and just who wins it. Echoes In Eternity should be a sure fire factor in the race.

Stormy Reply Storm Cat x Rahy x Kingmambo

Notes: Broke Maidens with a 69 on turf and since has run 70 and 71 on turf with a third and first place finish. Is a stalker so a brutal early pace may play into Stormy Reply’s hand well.

Nine Pours Daliapour x Forty Niner x Doneraile Court

Rez: Minnesota Downs

Notes: Broke maidens with a 68 on turf. He has run second and seventh on turf in G3’s with speeds of 72 and 74. Nine Pours might struggle to keep pace here in New York.

Code Enforcement Dansili x Kingmambo x Seattle Slew

Rez: Minnesota Downs

Notes: Has yet to break maidens. Nonetheless anything can happen with two year olds, and the pedigree is certainly world class. He has run 70, 75, and 73 speeds.

Marcus Andratticus Marcus Andronicus x Monsun x Caro

Rez: Minnesota Downs

Notes: Showed a nice kick winning his last turf sprint on an off track with a 77 speed. If Marcus Andratticus can display that same kick here New York he might surprise and overcome his 14/1 odds. He needs to overcome two less than stellar starts on dry turf. 

Cymbeline Shakespeare x Sadler’s Wells x Seattle Slew

Notes: Cymbeline is a powerful stalker with two wins in two starts. His speeds of 74 and 83 are very promising. This horse looks to have a great shot of sweeping in and stealing this one. The frontrunners will need to get a huge margin if they are to hold of Cymbeline.

Ransom Boricua Red Ransom x Rainbow Quest x Royal Egyptian

Notes: Broke maidens with a 76 speed after a slow 5^th place finish at 66. He will need to make a nice leap forward to win here in New York.

To All The Cynics Dylan Thomas x Victory Gallop x Storm Cat

Notes: Another great horse from owner Super. This horse has run second, first, and first with speeds of 67, 75, and 77. Seems to be improving in each races which is not a good sign for runners looking to hold off this colt with a strong kick.

Suffering Servant Danehill Dancer x Pivotal x Dynaformer

Notes: Broke maidens in first start with a 71 speed. He may be a little green for this race, but shows real nice promise, and a world class pedigree.

Ohes Gotthe Fever  Stormin Fever x Danzig x Vaguely Noble

Rez: Minnesota Downs

Notes: Dundy has one of the more experienced turf runners in this race with four races. His debut was slow, and two starts on off tracks were nothing special. He broke maidens on dry turf however with a 75 speed. If he can grab the lead early he has a shot to stick nicely in the money.
