Fillies and mares, 3 years old

.)    HONOR AND OBEY(IRE) earthsong  Goesoff at 16/1 and has Cothill on board. This Sadler’s Wells filly has 3 wins in 5 career starts on the turf and seems to be getting better and better each race. She has never raced over the Supertoyturf in Minnesotaand has never gone this exact distance. This is her first stakes try as barndog tries to see whether she can make the class jump.

.)  DISTORTED GREIN(GER) aprilwine The 13/1 odds along with little used jock J McDowell set this filly up for some long shot backing. This veteran of 20 races last won in March in an allowance in Northern California. The Greiton mare visits Minnesota for the first time as she tries to repeat the 94 speed figure she once posted at today’s distance. Thebigshow hopes that she can prove she belongs.

.)  SISSON’S ACTRESS(KY) devil Binzaman has recently been racing this Empire Maker in routes but don’t overlook the winning 2 out of 3 in sprints early in her career. She seems to like both dirt and turf as she has won on both surfaces.Despite running in graded company not long ago, she hasn’t actually won a stakes race as a 3 year old. She goes off at 5/1 and gets the services of Napper today. Napper is still looking for his first win this season.

.)  ZIGGOLO(ENG) gradelane This interesting filly out of Piccolo has won7 of 14 races on the grass and has won on the grass in a stakes as recently as May. The fortune 500 carries an impressive 19% winning percentage and hasacquired the services of track best jockey Friar. There is a lot to like here especially at 8/1 odds. The negatives include never having run in Minnesota, and never having run in a stakes at this distance.

.)  CAMBERVILLE(NM) volare When bucksplash paired up Avenue of Flags with Mr. P. and Northern Dancer I’d guess that he thought he’d wind up with a dirt sprinter. She started her career on the dirt but made the shift to grass in November. She has since taken off and has won 6 of 7.Today’s favorite (5/2) ran a huge 107 last out at this distance in a stakes in Wyoming. She will likelybe difficult to beat especially with Bowen on board.

.)  SMOKING KIWI(NZ) babyfarms Local trainer bigricksends this Zabeel mare out today at 11/1 odds. Even though rick makes his home in Minnesotathis will be Smoking Kiwi’s first trip on the SupertoyLawn. She gets the services of veteran jock Stinson. She ran a big 95 speedlast out at this distance in a stakes but it was only good enough for forth behind the aforementioned Camberville.

.)  ETRUSCA(ENG) 2aussieAnother local trainer, rafa, sends this Medicean mare out for her 14th race. She has won 5 of 10 on the lawn but is another that has yet to try the Supertoyturf. She won a 6.5 furlong stakes in Virginiatwo back with an impressive 97, but hasn’t posted anything close to the 107 of Camberville’s. O Man gets the mount as he looks to improve upon his 9.5 winning percentage this year. She is 7/1 and should be in your exotic bets.

.)  WABI SABI(KY) leeballs Corza of the EWC invades the Minnesotacourse with this 6/1 mare out of Elusive Quality. She was last in the race in Wyoming that has already been mentioned. She has 3 wins out of 7 turf tries but she has also shown some prowess on the dirt. Zandofsky is the jock as Wabi Sabi tries to turn the tables on Smoking Kiwi and Camberville.

.)  AUROR DERBY(KY) auror The Minnesota Residency is represented again inthis race, this time by Fernando. Pickel rides the Gone West filly who won at 8 furlongs on the grass last out. The importance of that race is that it was over this very same Supertoyturf. She led that entire race, a tactic that seems to work for her. If she gets the lead early here, I don’t think any of the others will be able to track her down. At 7/1 this is a good place to try and beat the favorite.

.)                   BRIEF(GER) noles02 ThisPentire filly has won 3 in a row including two at this distance. However this is a jump up in class and will require an improvement in speed for her to make the board. The 11/1 odds reflects this. However, Brief gets hot jockey Annika today and rides for a veteran trainer with over 1000 races. She started her career in claimers and I’d bet noles feels lucky that she wasn’t claimed away.

.)                   URBAN SEX SYMBOL(KY) kensei Stevesutto and his 14.5 winningpercentage sends this 16/1 long shot with Ballard aboard. The Gone West filly has won 3 of 8 on the grass but didn’t show up in her sole stakes try 3 back. She broke her maiden at this distance and her best race could make her a contender here.

The Minnesota Residency is back on track after the recent lull. Our contests have restarted, and any resident who hasn’t visited or posted in the message board recently is encouraged to please do so soon.
