Dolly the Sheep and Big Mac’s!
Nowadays it seems everyone is clone crazy. They have cloned Dolly the sheep. They clone plants. Heck some guy is even trying to clone McDonald’s Big Macs, so it only seemed natural to me that I attempt a little horse cloning. I got out my apron, my gloves, and mask. I readied the test tubes and began to work. It was clear I couldn’t make exact replicas but I was sure going to try! I figured it was time we carried on the bloodlines of those legends that have passed away or were simply geldings. I even cloned a few present runners. Heck, I was in the zone and carefully documenting where every chromosome should go. When I was finished hunger had besieged me. Now if only I could clone the Colonel’s secret recipe! If you want to own one of these fine runners it’s time to get out your sim checks and start the breeding!
Eight Belles
This poor filly tragically gave her life at Churchill Downs but surely will not be forgotten. She ran her heart out to a nice second place finish in the Derby. I think her clone could be a real nice runner. It’s not a perfect clone, but here is how I would honor Eight Belles. The breed has a nice 3×4 Fappiano. The combo has never been used in the sim.
Unbridled’s Song x Dixieland Band x Cryptoclearance
Funny Cide
Funny Cide just couldn’t finish off the triple crown, nonetheless Funny Cide was a nice gelding. Most clones have used Little Current, but I think your better off using Key To The Mint here. That way you get a Ribot cross just like the real thing. My breed sticks with Slewacide who is probably on the downside now. Though you could just go Seattle Slew and see what happens.
Distorted Humor x Slewacide x Key To The Mint
Barbaro
Now here is a version for your very own Barbaro I think that could really rock! Most simsters stuck with the DDS of King’s Bishop but that hasn’t worked out well. Round Table on the back end was used once with outstanding results. I think that is clearly worth another shot, but I also like trying something new and using Nearctic on the back end. Nearctic influence in most clones of Barbaro get dropped, so it’s interesting to throw a good dosage of Nearctic back in and see what happens. I like:
Dynaformer x Carson City x Round Table or Nearctic
Imawildandcrazyguy
This gelding made an appearance in the Kentucky Derby finishing 4th and 2007. It’s hard not to like Imawildandcrazyguy, and I love the copycatting off this breed. I have two options. One is a more accurate clone for you all looking for a cheapo to breed. My other idea really fascinates me, and I think would be a great value breed costing a bit more. The Milwaukee Breed has never been done.
Wild Event x Top Account x Blue Ensign
Milwaukee Brew x Private Account x Hoist the Flag
Electrocutionist
All this colt did was finish in the money in six G1 stakes and earn over 5 million. That is not too shabby at all. On September 9th, 2006 Electrocutionist suffered a sudden heart attack and died. The colt had been a dominant force once winning the 2006 World Cup in Dubai, and The King George the VI Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes. Electrocutionist was a truly a dominant force.
The first clone is interesting, though it has not had success in the sim. The second option I have listed I think will do a lot more justice to the great Electrocutionist, and it gives you a nice 4×5 Nasruallah cross and 5×5 Nearco cross.
Red Ransom x Arazi x Ela-Mana-Mou
Red Ransom x Blushing Groom x Ela-Mana-Mou
George Washington
This Irish foaled horse was dominant and sent to stud after a nice career. After it was clear fertility problems were present George Washington returned to racing. Sadly George Washington was euthanized on the track in Monmouth Park after a Cannon bone fracture in October of 2007. The horse had finished in the money in seven G1’s with four of those runs ending in the winners circle. In all the 14 race career was good for six first place finishes, one place, and four shows. George Washington earned over 1.4 million and is truly a horse to remember.
The breed really fascinates me. Alysheba is the dam’s sire. You don’t see a lot of breeding of Alysheba to the Danzig line turfer’s, but I think it is a very interesting play. You can stick with Luthier on the back end or experiment with something that might add a bit more punch.
Danehill Dancer x Alysheba x Luthier
Horatio Nelson
In 2005 Horatio Nelson won the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere G1. In all Horatio Nelson won three stakes in 2005 and finished 2nd in a G1. The colt made seven career starts in all with four wins and a second place finish. After completing the 2006 Epsom Derby Horatio Nelson was euthanized from a broken Cannon bone.
Here again I suggest a nice clone using Danehill Dancer, but you could throw some Nasrullah blood on the end and get an interesting play if you don’t want to use the clone version with Master Derby.
Danehill Dancer x Sadler’s Wells x Master Derby
Below I have some interesting breeds to take a look at based on some well known thoroughbreds. Some are very close clones and others are well thought out upgraded versions. I will let you figure out your Curlin and Big Brown clones. Enjoy!
Pyro
Pulpit x Wild Again x Al Hattab
This clone is real close to the real thing. You could get even closer to the real thing and put Pass The Tab on backend, but Al Hattab probably does the breeding more justice.
Tale of Ekati
Tale of the Cat x Sunday Silence x Caerleon
This clone is real close. The breed is missing some Mr. P. but you get a similar ND and Ninjinsky II cross. The breed looks real good on paper. Has to be a sure fire winner!
Henrythenavigator
Kingmambo x Sadler’s Wells x Affirmed
This clone uses A DDS from the dam’s dam side instead of sire side, but it keeps the key Raise A Native cross in the right place, and also keeps the turfy blood you want. This cross has never been used in the sim and is a sure fire monstah!
Left Bank
French Deputy x Dr. Fager x Hail to Reason
Dr. Blum should be the DS here but that clone has been done four times with no success, so let’s beef it up a bit with Dr. Fager (Blum’s sire) and see if you get lucky.
