This weekend one of the headlining races in Florida will be the G3, The Old Cap.  This race will be across the fast dirt this Saturday and will be restricted to 3 year old fillies.  The race has drawn a field of nine entries this weekend and will be at the distance of 6.5 furlongs.  The morning line odds have been set and the post positions have been drawn for this race.  Let us now take a look at the horses that have entered the G3, The Old Cap this Saturday in Florida.

Coming out first we will see this Bay Filly that was sired by Mitole (MITOLE x WAR FRONT x A.P. INDY).  This filly has been running very well for the owner and will be coming into Saturday’s race with three wins in a row.  Last time out we saw her run in Idaho on 11/19/2022 going 7.5 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Stormy Angel Dirt Juvenile Fillies.  She got out fairly slow in the early going but moved her way up to fourth by the third call.  She had a nice stretch run as they turned for home and was able to get to the wire first by one and a quarter with a 95 speed rating.  She is seeking to get that number one spot again for the fourth time in a row this weekend when she breaks from her gate representing the Universal Racing Club residency.

Next, we have this Bay Filly who is a scratch bred (GHOSTZAPPER x DANZIG x FAPPIANO).  She is a prior G3 winner when she got up three starts back in the G3, Buckeye Debutante.  She was sixth in the G1, Happy Halloween and then came her most recent start on 12/25/2022 in Michigan.  She would face the boys on this Christmas Day on an off track in the G3, The Happytime Stakes.  She found a spot early in third and held that position until late in the race where she would get knocked off the boards and finish up in fourth with a 92 speed rating.  The owner gets a familiar jockey to his horse to take the mount this weekend as he is in hope to see his filly back on the boards.  They will saddle up in the paddock this Saturday and come out to represent the Elite Racing Club residency.

3SHAKE ME AWAKEFL3Fck2stableB F Abman5180%$34,2620.259/1

This is a Brown Filly who was sired by Dak Attack (DAK ATTACK x BRODY’S CAUSE x PIONEEROF THE NILE).  This filly has one win to her credit in five starts and that was in a Maiden Claimer in Minnesota on her second trip out.  Last time we saw this horse take to the track was here in Florida on 01/09/2023 when she went 8 furlongs in a $35400 NW2L Allowance of which she finished up second with a 92 speed rating.  This non-allowance winner will be taking a big jump up in class this weekend as she moves back down to travel around one turn.  She will come out in the post parade and over to her gate representing the East-West Connection residency.

4VIOLENT JAZZKY3Fcwk0O A Haack5380%$294,94038.005/1

Here we have a Light Grey Filly that was sired by Gun Runner (GUN RUNNER x GHOSTZAPPER x TAPIT).  Three starts back she nailed down a nice win in the G2, The Iron Deck.  Next time out she had a rough trip in the G1, Frickazee Stakes with a ninth place finish.  Then came her most recent start on 11/25/2022 in Oklahoma where she went out in a Listed Stakes, Arrogance Dirt Juvenile Fillies at the distance of 7.5 furlongs.  She made a good closing effort and was knocking on the door but crossed the wire in second just off by three quarters of a stride with a 91 speed rating.  She gets moved back up in class this weekend and the distance here in Florida should be in her wheelhouse when she breaks from her gate representing the East-West Connection residency.

5LORNE COPPERKY3Fkymar42D Givins5360%$183,96024.007/2

This is a Brown Filly that was sired by Omaha Beach (OMAHA BEACH x TAPIT x STORM CAT).  Three starts back this filly grabbed the wire first to get the win in the G3, The Sorgento.  Next, she ran a disappointing seventh in the G1, Frickazee Stakes.  Her most recent start then came in Ontario on 12/24/2022 when she went 8 furlongs in the G3, Reflections Futurity.  She was very close throughout this race staying just off the lead, but she would not find the effort needed this time out as she crossed the wire in fifth three strides short with a 97 speed rating.  She gets another opportunity this weekend to get back on the boards at the graded level when she comes out of the paddock and over to her post draw representing the Universal Racing Club residency.

6ELANA LIBERTYKY3Fmillerfarm11V Gardner54100%$144,12513.008/1

Next, we have this Bay Filly who was sired by Orb (ORB x SPEIGHTSTOWN x STORM BIRD).  This horse has five prior career starts and has picked up four wins and a second place finish.  She has shown she likes being at the top of the pile and will get another opportunity to do so as she moves up in class here in Florida.  Last time out we saw this horse on the track in Ohio on 12/10/2022 going 7.5 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Strolling For Gold Dirt Juvenile Fillies.  In the early going she remained back in sixth but had moved up to third by the time of the third call.  She was asked for a little extra effort in her stretch run, and she responded and got the win by over two lengths and a 93 speed rating.  She needs to show up with that kind of effort again this weekend when she makes her way over to her post draw representing the East-West Connection residency.

7FLIRTATIOUS WINDKY3FpiratemeadowsO Ridenour6117%$37,0930.0014/1

This is a Chestnut Filly that is a scratch bred (FLATTER x MISWAKI x BROAD BRUSH).  She broke her Maiden back in July of 2022 and since that time has not been able to find a spot on the boards in any of her starts.  Last time out we saw this filly in Kentucky on 12/25/2022 going 5 furlongs in a $49700 NW3x Local Allowance.  She stayed close in the early going of the race but had fallen back to sixth by the time of the third call and that is where she would finish up the race with a 79 speed rating.  She is taking a big jump in class this weekend in Florida and needs to show up much improved when she breaks from her gate representing the All-Stars Racing residency.

8SCRIPT FOR PILLSAUS3FstreetbossA Darling7586%$140,76616.007/1

Here we have a Bay Filly that was sired by Ole Kirk (OLE KIRK (AUS) x STRONG HOPE x SEEKING THE GOLD).  She started the 2022 season with two trips on the turf that were not so impressive, but when she was switched over to the dirt track in July she set the house on fire for the owner and has come away with five straight wins in a row.  Last time out we saw her on the track in Hong Kong on 01/07/2023 going 5 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Strong Buck Dirt Filly Sprint.  She was again on top of her game for this race and she lingered just off the lead in the early going and was able to find a little extra as she approached the wire to get the win by a half length with a 93 speed rating.  She will be in the hunt for her first graded win and sixth win in a row this weekend when she makes her way out of the paddock and over to her gate representing The Mecca residency.

9ABSOLUT JAMMINTUR3Ftfon37E Sharp13477%$203,20014.006/1

Coming out of the final gate will be this Bay Filly who was sired by Bodemeister (BODEMEISTER x AWESOME AGAIN x A.P. INDY).  Three starts back this filly got the win in a Listed Stakes, Fu Fu Mascus Dirt Juvenile Fillies in Arizona going gate to wire.  She was a disappointing eleventh in the G1, Happy Halloween in Vermont.  She then had her most recent start in Minnesota on 12/10/2022 going 6 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Fleet Of Four Dirt Juvenile Fillies.  She got out of the gate well and grabbed her spot in second and held that until her final stretch run where she began to fade back to cross the wire in fifth with an 82 speed rating.  With two failed graded starts in her career, she needs to step up her game this time out and show us more of her speed.  I think she has the ability to challenge here in Florida when she comes out representing the Sherwood Forest residency.

Good luck to all owners and horses!

Skippy’s Watch List

2-Ghostiziano:  This looks like good spot for this filly.  Can she find her spot on the boards?

6-Elana Liberty: Four wins in five starts.  Can she find another here in Florida?

8-Script For Pills: She has never lost on the dirt.  Can she keep that streak going?
