The winner in the 2YO Male Dirt division is VINDIFY, who is owned by Dontbetonme. This two-year-old has never raced outside the stake level class and in the first half of the season picked up to listed wins. On the second half of the season, he raced in G1 races and the late closer picked up his first grade level victory in the Happy Independence Day with a pair of seconds following in the Dell Computer Futurity and Sparkling Wines. He locked up the Eclipse award with a big win in the Breeders’ Bowl Juvenile.   Congrats to Dontbetonme!1

Taking the Eclipse in the 2YO Male Turf Division is UNFARNAN, owned by Ffoslas.  Things fired up for Unfarnan in mid-2022 where he just missed a win in the Norfellow Stakes (G2), finishing third by a mere neck. After this close one, Unfarnan caught fire and picked up a three-bag of G1 wins, stealing the More Nay at 11/1 followed by the Middlepark Stakes and wrapping things up with a very nice run in the Breeders’ Bowl Juvenile Turf Sprint.  A very nice season and congrats to Ffoslas!1

A fourth in the Lets Get Dirty G1 race was next followed by a very decent second in the G2 Pea Shooters Handicap. This sprinter is always in the picture and congrats to Cuetec!1

Secret of Kings bagged a pair of grade race wins in the later half of 2021 which set him up nicely to kick off the 2022 season in the bi-annual running of the 2022 Equinics, a race he ran away with a win by more than two strides. He came a stride short in the G1 Tongkat All Challenge and took a solid second place finish.   Later in the season, he would hit the board once more in a listed stake race, taking second once again.  Congrats to Naskipp, who is a frequent writer for the BTB!

These pair of wins earned enough points to get into the Bluegrass Derby, a race in which he was an outsider at 15/1 odds.  He won the race and later in the season added the G1 Travelers Stakes to his list of grade race wins.  Tip of the hat to Kaner and his very nice colt!

Bringing the Eclipse award to the Operating Room for the 3YO Male Turf Route is BEST INJECT.  Owned by Tees, Best Inject came close to winning a grade level stake race first time out in the G2 Fainting Goat Nightmare where he lead all the way, but beat at the line to finish second.   Two races later, he went gate to wire in the G1 2000 Guineas. In the Breeders’ Bowl Mile, he was able to take the lead but was outrun to the wire, taking a very nice second spot. Congrats to Tees for a horse who undoubtedly will be a toughy this season!

He went cold after winning the New Yorker but looks to be righting the ship with a pair of seconds in the Wisdom Tooth Dirt Endurance and Coastal Mining Dirt Special listed races.  Congrats Lenny on adding another trophy to your closet of awards!

Kiama later on finished third in both the Saint Legend and Japan Classic. A very nice season from this youngster who will have plenty to say in 2023. Congratulations VYZ!!

Alll writers have a chance to win it, so snag a race and write an article….get paid credits and maybe win this horse..8:56Yes….We’ll move onto the Older horses and start with the Sprinters on the dirt surface8:56And we have some very good Older horses…..here is the dirt male winner:8:56The Eclipse winner in the Older Male Dirt Sprint class for 2022 is AMERICAN MOVE, a horse owned by Massatoga. American Move struggled in 2021 in stake racing, hitting the board once in five listed stake tries.  He kicked 2022 off as an unlikely winner and in February, finished 3rd by a head at 29/1 in a listed stakes. Odds went up to 32/1 in an April listed stakes race, that he stole by a stride. The longshot then ventured into the G3 Md Breeders Bowl at 15/1 and walked away with the win.  He continued to go off at double digit odds, this time 11/1 in the G2 Smile and the horse smiled all the way to the winners circle.  The G1 Iceberg would be the next victory he recorded and he followed that with an entry into the prestigious G1 Breeders’ Bowl Sprint, which would be another win. He ended the year with a second in the G2 Deep South Sprint. A wonderfully successful season for this champ and owner Massatoga!

Moving over to our Older Female Dirt Sprinters the winner is Speight’s Fight for Ianwhipkey8:59Speight’s Fight had the biggest season in her career as a four year old in 2022. She began by winning a listed over the winter and in the spring added the G2 Unthinkable. After an unsuccessful route attempt she returned to sprints to run second in the G2 Best Flight before scoring the biggest victory of her career in the G1 Nutcracker.8:59http://derbyfever.com/onehorse_inline.asp?horse=12100044007DerbyFever.comDerbyFever.com Horse Racing GameFree Online Horse Racing Manager

Onto the Turf Sprinters….9:00And the lucky male winner is….9:00Earning the Eclipse award for the Older Male Turf Sprint is WASH RINSE REPEAT, who is owned by Lenny271. This gelding has become a sort of king of sprint racing as he snagged four G1 victories during 2022.  He fired things off with an amazing 123 speed in the 2022 Equinics. His second victory was delivered in the Cup of July. He just missed a win in the Sprint Cup, where he finished second by only a neck.  The 2022 season concluded with wins in the Breeders’ Bowl Turf Spin and the King Kong Sprint.  Congrats to Lenny with the success with Wash Rinse Repeat, who has already picked up a G1 in 2023 in the Pekays Rememberance Stakes…is a repeat Eclipse in the making?

She took two listeds to begin the year before jumping right into G1 company where she handily scored in the Greek Goddess. She added another listed win July and then took the biggest race for older female sprinters, the G1 Fujimoto Turf Sprint.9:03http://derbyfever.com/onehorse_inline.asp?horse=12100061367DerbyFever.comDerbyFever.com Horse Racing GameFree Online Horse Racing Manager

We cross back over to the dirt surface for our Rout winners9:05Ok, should be Route winners9:05and here is the award winner for the men…9:05Winning the Eclipse award in the Older Male Dirt Route category is a horse owned by Stockswami and comes out of one of my favorite sires (and you can figure that out by his name) is…..SEATTLE WAR FRONT. The horse earned the top spot based on his first two starts in the race season where he burnt speeds of 120 and 118.  This came in the G1 Glenn Kegasus Tradition Killer in January and two months later in the $6 million dollar purse rich Sand Castle Classic.   Seattle War Front was retired at the end of 2022 after earning over $5 million over his career. He’s been used to breed Pharoah’s Gold Gal and hopefully his success will go well in his daughter. Congratulations to Stockswami and best of luck with your newborn!

You should have come here!  I brought Spam Sandwiches!

Spinround  9:10 PM
The 2021 Champion Older Female Dirt Route, there was little doubt that Magical Morning was a great mare. But returning in 2022 she smashed records, winning four starts, all in G1s, entering the Hall of Fame and then, with a second straigtht win in the Breeders’ Bowl Distaff becoming the leading earner among all females on dirt. Sportingly Kingab has returned her for a six year old season, targeting the races she won in 2022 – the Original Margarita Invitational, the Go For the Gold and Smokestacks. Watch out trainers in this division, perhaps you should look for easier spots!9:11http://www.derbyfever.com/onehorse_inline.asp?horse=12000047979DerbyFever.comDerbyFever.com Horse Racing GameFree Online Horse Racing Manager

Roxynken  9:13 PM
Taking the Eclipse award for the Older Male Turf Route is GOLDEN JULY who is owned by Fdllodge20.  Golden July knocked off three G1 wins during 2022 which came in the Sydney Cup, Kakarazuka Kinen Cup and the Coxless Stakes. He also managed to have top three finishes in four other grade level races which include a second in the G1 King Kong Cup and thirds in the Mr. Met Cap (G1), Manha Manha Challenge (G1), and Challenge Cup (G3).  For a horse that had it’s first race in the month of July, he has definitely turned Golden.  Congrats to Fdllodge20 on finding this piece of gold!

moving over to our Female Turf Route Champion, the Award goes to Name Police owned by Ace!9:16Fittingly a horse named for beloved sim trainer Itch was crowned a champion of 2022. Itch self identified as the game’s name police although this mare’s name most certainly would not receive a ticket. She won two G1s in 2022, the Equinics and the Weedy Establishment. She was second in the G1 Prix Marcel Boss and third in the G1 Foul Mouth. Her only off the board effort came when she ran against the males in the Breeders’ Bowl Mile but she did her trainer proud by finishing fifth.

sremel9  9:18 PM

Roxynken  9:18 PM
If Beerkeg is still here…this one’s for you:9:19The five-year-old (now turned 6yo) CUSTOMIZER has taken the Eclipse in the Older Male Dirt Long class.  Beerkeg, owner of this “Old Man”, watched the horse grab a win in the G2 Old Man stakes, to fire off the 2022 season. This guy who likes to be near the front connected for another win in the G1 Desert Stamina Cup after building a sizeable lead and cruising to the line. On the back half of the year, another win was captured in the G3 Jackson Jog going a long 2-mile distance. He wrapped the season up with a second in the Seattle Stayer, a third in the Breeders’ Bowl Dirt Marathon and another third in the Hit Man, all G1 races. A nice long distance runner and congrats to Beerkeg!1

Moving over to the Female Division our Older Dirt Long division winner is War For the Gold and owner Kingab9:21War For the Gold is another returning 2021 champion for trainer Kingab. She was the 3yo Female Dirt Long winner that year and her 2022 campaign was nothing short of brilliant. War For the Gold won four G1s – the Empire State Stayer, Great Dame, Jungle Stayers and the Equinics. She added two G2 scores in the Old Lady and the Big Dessert Stakes from seven starts on the year. She’s another amazing mare who is returning for another season.9:21http://www.derbyfever.com/onehorse_inline.asp?horse=12100008010DerbyFever.comDerbyFever.com Horse Racing GameFree Online Horse Racing Manager

Uh oh…I see my name keeps coming up and I had another meeting.  1) Consecutive G1 wins will take a little while (seems like a complicated search), so I’ll have to find time to get that.  2) I do have a list of Eclipse Winners.  No link at the moment, but I’m working on something and I’ll make a note to add Eclipse Winners as well…

Roxynken  9:23 PM
You won again!!!!….the winner is…..9:23Given walks off with the Eclipse award thanks to YOU HAVE NO CHOICE taking the older Male Turf Long division. This guy started the season with a trio of wins, the first in an allowance followed by a listed stake race and wrapping up in the G1 The 5-Series. In this race he ripped out a 120 speed and took the top level win in his first grade level appearance.  You Have No Choice swept another pair of G1 wins in the long named King Geoff and Queen Beth’s Emerald Stakes and the Arc De ComicDog. This intimidating named horse has become a specialist at the 12-furlong distance.  Congratulations Given on a fine horse and a fine race season!

Our last award of the evening  is the Champion Female Turf Long.  The winner is Platinum Wipe Club owned by Ace.  And she also happens to be the Horse of the Year!9:26Females who want to score championships do well when facing males and Platinum Wipe Club showed plenty of them her backside in 2022. The free wheeling front runner scored in three G1s against males including the Spring Cup and the Gold Glass early in the season then topped off by a win in the $6 million Millwood Cup. She was never behind in any of those races, all run at the sim’s longest distance two miles. Oh and as an appetizer earlier in the year she trounced fellow females in the Equinics at a mile and three quarters. As icing on the cake she became the leading earner for turf females with more than $7 million in the bank.9:26http://www.derbyfever.com/onehorse_inline.asp?horse=12000061719DerbyFever.comDerbyFever.com Horse Racing GameFree Online Horse Racing Manager
