Stakes – Purse $100,000
Restricted to 4 Year Olds and Older
10 furlongs on Turf

The start of a new year and season begins for the Elite Racing Club at Fairyhouse Racecourse, Ireland’s premier horse racing venue which is situated in the parish of Ratoath in the County of Meath. Eight impressive equine beasts have made the journey here for the Fastnet Rock, a 10 furlong race on the turf featuring some great speed assembled by the famed barns of ERC owners/trainers. They are racing for the winner’s share of the $100,000 purse, with the victorious owner/trainer also collecting club stakes bonus points which will determine a club champion at year end. Jockey tactics and racing luck will probably play an important role in determining the winner and at first glance it looks like this will be a close contest.

Here is a closer look at the field:

#6
galileo disorder
harrylan15 barn
d nickesy                                12/1

Out of the harrylan15 barn is this four year old son of GALILEO out of the Sim Mare STREET CHOICE. He is making his first Stakes start here after back to back wins on this track and at this same distance. He blasted 111 speed last time out and won by more than four lengths. He will face tough competition from some of the ERC’s best but he should be in the mix and could find a spot on the board.

#7
un revenant
amirnew0 barn
m russell                                             9/1

Out of the amirnew0 barn is this four year old son of TERRITORIES out of the Sim Mare JAPAN PROPERTY. He has finished in the money in eleven of his sixteen races including five wins. He was runner-up at the “ERC Dubawi” three back and followed that up on just fifteen days rest with a jump to G1 at the “Vicky Derby” which resulted in a seventh place finish. He likes the distance and will sit mid pack early on before turning it on as they come down the stretch.

#4
successful jam
jbcri32 barn
m tippett                                3/1

Out of the jbcri32 barn is this six year old scratch bred SEBRING (x SUNDAY SILENCE x RIVERMAN) stallion. Our only Graded winner took home the G3 “Harry Potter” in November 2021 and followed that up with a runner-up at the G3 “Galaxian Stakes”. He made two attempts at G1 but was unsuccessful and since then has raced at four Stakes races including a third place finish last year at the ERC “Oasis Dream”. He has the speed to compete with this group and is comfortable with the distance as eight of his last nine starts have been at ten furlongs.

#2
risewhereivefallen
monsters1 barn
e c doyle                                12/1

Out of the monsters1 barn (selurnivek) is this four year son of HARBINGER out of the Sim Mare EXCELLENT MAMBO. He has finished in the money in eight of his twelve career starts and comes in off a fourth place finish at the “AP Slew Turf Stayer” where he ran 108 speed over the eleven furlong track. He should be in the mix here and might be able to sneak in and find a spot on the board. Great to see the ownership group with an entry in the race and hope they will participate in all ERC events in the upcoming season.

#8
battle of yavin
whaddyaat barn
l montgomery                                    5/1

Out of the whaddyaat barn (newfy) is this five year old son of SEA THE STARS out of the Sim Mare IDIOTEQUE. Most recent pick up makes his first start for the ownership group after five straight wins and seven wins in his last eight starts. He makes his first Stakes start today but with his recent success he is definitely ready for the jump and he has a good chance to keep his streak going.

#5

kennyboydowns barn
a ebert                                                7/2

Out of the kennyboydowns barn (dunn) is this five year old son of SIYOUNI out of the Sim Mare MO SENSE GIRL. He has finished in the money in an impressive nineteen of his twenty-six career starts including thirteen wins including his last four races. He is making just his fourth start on the grass but ownership is hopeful that he will make the transition well and that his big speed numbers will play on the new surface. He will likely make another ERC appearance at the “Bernardini” in July.

#1
additional stress
aam barn
g holland                                7/2

Out of the aam barn (dontbetonme) is this five year old son of FASTNET ROCK out of the Sim Mare GUESS THE NUMBER. He comes in off a win in his debut for his new stable where he ran 111 speed at a nine and a half furlong Allowance race in Oregon in mid December. He has run 100+ speed in fourteen straight races and will need to continue that trend here as there is speed coming from all eight gates.

#3
baffort
chino18 barn
e newcomb                            5/1

Out of the chino18 barn is this five year old son of WAR CHANT out of the Sim Mare KOMPANY. He has finished in the money in nine of his fourteen career starts and finished off the 2022 campaign with a fourth place finish at the G3 “What’s It Worth”. He ran career best 113 speed there but couldn’t catch the winner ORKAN TANINO who blazed 117 speed and won by more than a length. He will go ten furlongs for the first time here with his previous longest race being a third place finish over a nine furlong track two years ago. If he can get the distance he should be in the mix here.
