URC Presents A Very Magoo Christmas.

URC Presents A Very Magoo Christmas, The worst race in sim history…..

As a big believer in giving everybody in a residency a go I came up with the idea for a race that beggars belief, a race to be run Christmas week for unraced 3yo’s over 16 Furlongs on Turf.

The object of the races is not to win but to see how slow we can get a horse to go, yep that is right, we are rewarding the horses that run the slowest, some have called it the trip of tragedy, or the race that stops a residency (for about 4 minutes), it is possibly the most talked about race in URC since Jehovah played Quarterback for Jerusalem.

So there has been much conversation as to how to breed, how to train, how to set jockey instructions, basically how do you get a horse to chase it’s own tail? Will the horse get injured, How many vets and Ambulances will be required? Do you chase the prizes or go to the other end and try to take what should be easy BP’s?.

3yo Brown filly from the yard of Waremblem, Crenshinibon looks to have some ability as she is by Irish Grade 1 winner Zoffany, who was also the leading freshman sire in Europe in 2015, Selceted at Dam Sire is French Stallion and the 1984 3yo champion stayer in Europe Darshanan, and last but not least at at Dam Dam sire we have Linamix, French Grade 1 winner and 2 time leading sire in France, this filly looks like a major contender to win.

PBoy has gone for the more well-known sires in Mastercraftsman, Green Desert and Diesis. It is interesting that he seems to be going for the race win, with horses that produce staying types, but looking at the race records all 3 seem to have done there best work at shorter trips. Mastercraftsman won 6 Grade 1 races between 6 and 10.5 furlongs, Green Deserts major successes came at 5-6 furlongs and Diesis wone the Dewhust and the middle park stakes at 6-7 furlongs but was injured before stepping out in trip. I think this horse will be at the wrong end (winning end) of the race.

A fat looking filly, that looks like this has been sitting in the paddock for quite some time. Chips4u2c brings to you a filly sired by Chipshot, a winner of 4 races from 30 starts ranging from 6-8.5 furlongs. Chips selection at Dam sire is 2-time winner Honor Class, who is the sire of stakes winner Dona Diana and at Hole in my sock at DDS, he won 7 of 54 races. I do see a small amount of staying pedigree, but this horse theoretically should be a dirt sprinter, but given this horse just ate Christmas dinner I expect it to fall asleep a long way from home.

Kunfu Magoo, looks to be a dead set sprinter, she is by Verde-Mar who somehow ended up racing in Sweden and the UAE, Verde-Mar was crowned champion Scandinavian sprinter and won 7 races from 13 starts. At Dam Sire we have Kafu who won the grade 2 Flying Childers over 5 furlongs, at stud he was sent to the Netherlands for Warmblood breeding (equestrian breeding with a lighter type horse). At Dam Dam Sire we have Crown jester, who won 6 of 7 races and was also sire to great Australian Sprinter Rory’s Jester, who won the worlds richest 2yo race the Golden Slipper. I think Kunfu will be going backwards at a fast rate at the 8 pole, if it gets that far.

Punter has entered light grey colt Slower the better who is by Uruguayan Stallion Honesto who was a grade 3 winner in Brazil over the 12 furlongs, He did sire quite a few horses but nothing of note. In at Dam Sire is American Odyessy, a very well breed son of Kingmambo, he sired about 20 horses in Australia, but didn’t produce anything of note. At Dam Dam Sire is Defence Witness, who won 12 of 38 starts and stood at stud in Ohio. This horse seems to have some staying blood, but will it translate to Sim immortality. I don’t think so.

Sixteenfurlontofa is a chestnut colt by Indian Star, who was a winner of 2 of his 5 races, Not much is know about him except he is standing at Leader stud in Russia, and seemed to do his racing in Russia as well, I can’t even find a record of his progeny, he has been matched with Bern Identity, Winner at 6-8 Furlongs as a 2yo, including a 12 length maiden win, he entered stud in Jamaica in 2016. At Dam Dam Sire we have Adam Blue who won 2 stakes races in florida, His last know whereabouts was a stud near Amarilo Texas, where he sired 3 horses who don’t looked to have raced. 3 sires of the lowest order might end up coming in behind the ambulance.

Out of our misery is a light grey Filly by Australian Sire Copperfield, He won 6 races from his 50 starts with $239,366 in prizemoney, he was sent to Singapore in 2005 and has no progeny to speak of. At Dam Sire we have Bonavena out of Peru, who was unbeaten at age 2 and won 9 from 38, his best run came in the Grade 1 Clasico Polla De Potrillios where he was 2nd, at Dam Dam Sire Dereck has chosen Hesa Rock Star, un unraced horse out of Wisconsin, not too much is known about this horse, Dereck has chosen 3 very obscure sires, not much is known, I’m not sure she will be a very sound Filly, will be closer to the back than the front of the field.

A Brazilian Colt from Sire Grande Lance, not a huge amount is know about Lance other than he had 4 race starts for 2 win and he has lot’s of staying horses through his pedigree, at DS is Krisinsky who is a successful Dressage and eventing sire with a staying pedigree, although he never actually saw the race track. And coming in at DDS is Slew’s Tiznow who won 4 of 14 races and was 2nd in the Grade 1 Lane’s end Breeders Futurity, this horse could be well placed to actually win the race taking the BP’s but losing the contest and is one of the few likely to not get distanced.

Slow Az G is an colt by well-travelled American Sire Fifteen Love winner of the Maxxam Gold Cup a 9 Furlong stakes race in Houston, he had a total earnings of $503,493 and races in the UK turkey and America, he has been matched at Dam Sire with Irish Stallion Exaltation who was owned and breed by Godophin and was winner of the Gallinule Stakes at Grade 3 level, his last know whereabouts was Poland. At DDS we have Churchill Downs, winner at listed level and 3rd I the worlds best 2yo race the Golden Slipper, Churchill Downs was sent to Libya in 2012 and stolen by armed militia in 2020 and his fate is unknown. This horse for me has too much staying pedigree and will be fighting it out for the win.

USCsteve has entered Colt Fatlady is singing, and boy is it PHAT, it has been in the paddock for a long time and is so fat it looks like a draft horse, It is by French sire Singing, who is a French bred stayer, who did win at stakes level after being imported to Australia from Germany. Steve has chosen Sunny’s Irish Lady which isn’t even listed on Pedigree Query so nothing is know him, but his Dad Sunny’s Halo won the Kentucky Derby, in at Dam Dam Sire is Fat Man who won 3 of 23 starts. This seems to have some staying pedigree should make it home intact.

…

Slow Boat to Magoo is a brown filly by Uruguay Stallion Banana Boat, Banana Boat itself won 1 race from 10 starts and has no listed progeny so this could be a good pick by Lindsay Park. In at Dam Sire is Hold on Chris, possible tribute to the head of URC, maybe a Christmas tribute or just pure coincidence, I have no idea, but this Florida bred Stallion did win 4 races in a 31-start career, And at Dam Dam sire is Co Slo, who never raced at all, produced 1 horse, who never raced, so I have no idea what this horse is capable of. I bet it ain’t much.

A good looking bay filly by Universal Ruler, a good Sprinter miler coming out of Australia, He was a winner of the group 3 Belmont Sprint over 1400m and won 6 from his 12 career starts including 5 in a row, he has been matched up with 2 time G1 winner Total Impact winner of Tanteo De potrillos and the Hollywood Gold cup, coming in at DDS is Perryston View, 13 time winner including the Temple Stakes at G2 level. Stop to Walk looks to also have a bit of a staying pedigree and may not run to the lowest of expectations.

French fiasco is a Brown colt by J’Ouvert not much is known about J’Ouvert other than the fact that it was born in Virginia and was transported to Trinidad to stand at stud, as far as I can tell only 2 of his progeny have raced although they did win 6 of the 11 races they contested between them, Legions had put in French stallion Racanal in the Dam Sire spot, a winner of 5 races from 5 starts, but I have no information of where or what races, the only info is he won Euros, so assume it may have been in France, his progeny won 1 race between them. I have no idea how this will go.

A Bay filly by Brazilian Sire Cha Ingles, who had in his real life racing career won 7 of his 8 races including the G3 Presidente Julio Mesquita, all races were over only 1000m so not sure this will be getting the trip, at Dam Sire Banknote, breed by the stable of Queen Elizabeth II and sold to the jockey club of turkey, He did manage to win the Badener Melie in Germany a G3 over 8 Furlongs adding a little bit of middle distance Pedigree and at DDS We have Maridi Who won 8 of 31 career starts and raced in Ireland Czech republic, Slovakia, Italy and Germany, He was a real staying horse so I’m not so sure about this choice at DDS, Let’s hope for Dydalt that the Staying Pedigree of Mariydi doesn’t shine through.

A 3yo Colt by 3-time group 1, winner the Kiwi Stallion Turn me loose, Christmas slug looks to be another of the fatted on pasture (and Christmas dinner) given how late he was entered by his trainer. Qwikvett has placed Westow an unraced stallion that was sent to Peru to make his mark as a sire but didn’t deliver too much. At Dam Dam Sire is Court of Jewels, a 4-time winner in Australia, this Kiwi bred is a sprint miler. Looking at the pedigree this horse looks to be a little bit inbreed but does have some staying blood. Will one offset the other?

No I’m not inbreed the horse is, I figured the best way for a horse to run in circles would be if it had 5 legs, I chose to use Australian sprinters and make the horse as inbreed as I could. I used the sire Agitate, who was a 2-time stakes winner in Queensland, over 5.5=6 Furlongs. It’s father Sequalo was a very good sprinter winning 5 group races and $832,725. Sequalo also happens to be the Dam Dam Sire. At Dam sire I used Align who was a winner of the Group 1 sires produce, but it also happens to be the father of Agitate’s mother. This thing will go fast, hopefully in circles.

So, we have horses with different sires from all over the world, some are well known most are not. It is interesting to see what kinds of strategy will work when you are trying to have the slowest horse in the race. I think people have gone looking for sires that have poor sim stats, while others have tried to use sprinting and/or Dirt Bloodlines. and a few have also tried to go the inbreed route. Jockey selection and positioning could be vital to having success. So how Low will the SP go, and what will be the winning SP. Share your thoughts on how you would breed a horse for this race and what the High/Low Sp’s will be.

Merry Christmas to all, stay safe and have a great new year!

Fun write up magoo. I think inbred is the way to go. We should have the “exacta” locked lol
