Baby Girls Do Battle In North California
Welcome to the Baby’s First Stakes – Grade 3 for 2y.o Fillies over 4.5F on Dirt at North California. A huge crowd has turned up to see these baby’s dash for the cash and the winner will have black type next to her name and may very well be a useful broadmare in the future. With all that said it’s time we have a look at the these babies and assess their chances.
Nantucket Sound – 2 –1–1–0 10/1
Broke her Maiden first time out in a MSW at California posting a 63SP over 5.5F. She sat on the leaders shoulder and over powered her in the straight to record a nice win. Next time to the races was in a high level allowance where again she raced on the pace but this time found one stronger over the finishing stages to turn in a nice 2nd. A good place chance in an open race if she can continue to improve.
Weastmead Forestry – 1 –1–0–0 3/2
A powerful display of galloping from this little girl at her first start in North Florida running the field off their legs going wire to wire with a solid 72SP. She was stronger as the race went on and with natural improvement she could prove to be the one. A little short for my money though at 3/2.
Cop Out – 1 –0–1–0 5/1
Ran 2nd first time out to Sunny Sal going down by 2 ½ lengths and running a 67SP. She would have to improve to win this race but she is nicely bred and could suprise.
GTR Xui – 1 –1–0–0 5/1
Started her career in Eastern Kentucky and ran a wire to wire win running a 74SP over 6F. Although she was being caught on the line the SP indicates she ran a nice race first time out. She will be better suited over 4.5F with her early speed and may very well lead all the way again here. Great Value at 5/1!!!
Sunny Sal – 1 –1–0–0 7/2
A very nice debut from this beautiful brown filly at North Florida. She settled down in 3rd a ¼ length from the leader before sprinting clear to record a nice win posting a 73SP along the way. She will be another one sitting on the pace and running on.
Special Union – 1 –1–0–0 7/2
A perfect start to this babies career in a MSW at California posting a 67SP over 6F. She was well back in the run and finished well to post a comanding win. Will be suited by the small field here and if she gets a bit of speed on up front has the pace to finish off over the top of them.
A very dificult race and if we ran it 6 times I believe we could posibly get a different winner each time. Good Luck to all trainers and if not this weekend your babies will all be stakes winners in due time.
