Out of a “G” rated mare, this 2yo has placed in two mini sprints after breaking maiden 1st time out.  Mare has produced three progeny so far, with one being a stakes winner.  This colt was beaten in last by Tiderunner who then went on to win a G3 in France.  Now he will need to step up at least five points to compete here.  So far he has not disappointed in spirit.

First, I need to comment that “no one is as cool as FonzieJ”.   This colt is a scratch bred with Aussie blood predominant.  He will certainly have to be at his “best of bestest” to win this, as he has already shown a little of what his class may consist of.  Failing to place in his last two G3’s is not the greatest confidence boost to this colt.  He will need more heart here.

Out of an “H” rated mare, this colt has a ton of speed.  He is coming off back to back victories and appears to be raring to go.  I’m cautious about his chances here….not because he can’t compete, but because of the dreaded “bounce”.  Going from dirt to turf or vice versa, often brings out a big SP.   It will all come out in the wash this Saturday.

Another scratch bred speed freak.  On a roll till his last, in which he tried to carry his speed to a mile (or was it the class factor?).  A 2yo colt or filly has to be a little special to consistently be competitive on the front end, especially when stretching out.  Dropping back to 7f may give him a chance to regain his composure.  Either, and, or or, the front will be crowed here.

“G” rated mare progeny by Galileo, this colt may have had a bit too much Bass in last.  Came into the racing world blazing with two immediate wins (one a G3), then ran into the #1 rated colt in the Bass G1.  He certainly wasn’t embarrassed in that, running a decent 4th.  Back to a class in which he is already proven.

Coming off two very nice wins in which this 2yo made his presence felt to the pacemakers before taking them down.  1st progeny of an “E” rated mare.  10th ranked in turf sprints and has the racing style that can do a lot of damage here.  Should be well within striking range of the pacesetters, and has enough zip to get up in the final yards.  Certainly an overlay at 8/1.

Credible 2yo out of a ”F” rated mare who already has a 3yo progeny that is a stakes winner.  This son of Highest Honor will have to improve somewhat here to be a viable contender.  He has proved he can get a distance, but hasn’t put up the SP’s to be effective here.

Diesis sired to a “D” rated mare this little fella is a stakes winner in his 1st try.  Barn is a proven winner with big time connections.  Hard to figure the outcome here, as there’s a few unknowns.  Some of these 1st time winners take the “bounce”, and others do not.  Class factor says this youngster will certainly be a “name” shortly, but will he shine here?

COREY’S MISSION

4/1 favorite has seen a few of these before.  His mission if he decides to take it; will be to finish off his race.  He’s been slack in doing that the last two out, and will not win this unless he does.  He peaked three back in which he posted an 88 SP.  Probably the reason he is the fav here.  He is another in this that likes the lead and finds it difficult when he can’t get it.  His mission will be tough here, although not impossible.

Scratch bred by High Chaparral, he broke his maiden at the distance, and was beaten by the #6 in his last.  Wishing revenge he may not be ready to dish out, trainer has decided otherwise.  He should be stalking the pacesetters, and will have to have something left to take all the marbles here.  However, should be cashing.

Finished ahead of a few in this in his last out.  Couldn’t quite cut the mile in his last and is dropping down in distance.  He has the perfect style for this event and is being consistent.  Being on the outside shouldn’t hamper him too much, and jock is ok.  Big time trainer almost always has his ponies ready.  And as my headline reads, I don’t think he’s getting the respect he deserves.  Come Saturday, we’ll see if that is proven to be a correct statement.

Scratch bred sired by Street Cry who will need to pick it up if he is to be a factor here.  Won his first two outings in short fields at average times, and since has been mediocre at best.  If he is to become a class act, he will need to rise to the occasion here.
